The reviews seem to agree with you thus far, greencapt. I'm almost afraid to see it.

For those of you with questions about Superman II, check out the Superman II: Donner's Cut thread somewhere around here. The real answer is that the movie changed directors half-way through and so half of the stuff probably doesn't even make sense.

The quality of referee-ing has been exceptionally poor given the status of this tournament. I shouldn't be able to count the bad calls on my fingers and toes, but the ones I've seen, I could probably count them on mine and those of my friends who've been watching it with me.

Faking injuries needs to be cracked down on. HARD. I'm sick of all these so-called professional teams with their polished dives (as if it hasn't been part of their training regime). Seeing Brazil play my own country last week, I have to say I became extremely disappointed in a team that I used to have a lot of respect for. They *were* better than us skill-wise, but attitudinally and professionally, they were just pricks.

Anyway, Australia's playing Croatia this morning (4am for me - I'm gonna be so dead at work). We can win or draw this one to get through, but I think we stand a good chance of winning. There's a massive twist to this match, check this out:

Quite aside from the fact that a place in the round of 16 is still within reach for both sides, the links between both nations, and squads, are strong and several, with no less than seven Socceroos - captain Mark Viduka, Jason Culina, Tony Popovic, Josip Skoko, Ante Covic, Zeljko Kalac and Marco Bresciano - boasting Croatian ancestry.

It’s not all one-way, either, with three of the Croatian squad - Josip Simunic, Joey Didulica and Anthony Seric – not only having been born and raised in Australia, but schooled at the famous Australian Institute of Sport that produced, among others, the likes of Viduka and Harry Kewell.

Consequently, several friendships are set to be put on the line. "It will be quality, personally for me,” Viduka said this week. “I obviously know all the players in the Croatia team and it would be a personal pleasure to score, put it that way."

Wii package: what would you pay?

Actually, power-wise it is meant to be two GameCubes with a new controller...

The official Megadrive package I got was with Sonic the Hedgehog, Columns and Altered Beast, and it cost $299 Australian. Not too shabby at all, considering I still have it plugged in!

WTF? Someone please explain how Superman could return to a planet that no longer exists...

With any comic book movie, I think it is imperitive to collaborate with definitive writers of the respective characters' comics a la Sin City.

A Wonder Woman movie should have heavy involvement with Greg Rucka, as he's the best Wonder Woman writer at present. A Green Lantern movie with either Geoff Johns or Darwyn Cooke. A Swamp Thing/Watchmen with Alan Moore. A Batman OR Superman movie with Jeph Loeb. An X-MEN with JOSS WHEDON!

Yeah, looking to Religion to blame for all of history's wars is nothing more than a baseless witch-hunt. One could just as easily say something like 'Science caused all wars throughout history'. There'd be no bombs, tanks, missiles, ICMBs, even swords yada yada yada. It's all bullcrap.

We could all sit here and do nothing and no wars would occur, but with the development of anything good or useful, the capacity for evil applications of that thing always exist as long as human beings are involved.

*Perhaps* World of Starcraft wouldn't work, but I've been hanging out for StarCraft 2 for years now.

Well, all of us Aussies got up at 2am to watch the game against Brazil, and we were proud to see our boys hold their own for the first half. I felt as though Australia put on more pressure in the first half than Brazil did. Never in the first half did I think there was danger of Brazil scoring. But alas, in the second half the Brazillians seemed to dial their football skills up to a whole 'nother level, and we couldn't hold them off any longer. A 2-0 loss to the Brazillians is something we can live with. We did waste some very good goal opportunities, though. Now we have to beat the Croatians, which I think we can do.

I've already pre-ordered, so I'm at Nintendo's mercy regardless. Iwata did confirm that the price would not exceed $250 US, though. Hopefully the dastardly shopkeepers in Australia don't do what they do with a lot of other stuff - simply multiply the American price by two (not an accurate conversion at all).

But even if it does turn out to be $500 including my free game, it'll still be the cheapest launch price ever.

This is the first console I've EVER pre-ordered (though I did get my Dreamcast before launch).

I've been stocking up for launch: Super Mario Sunshine, Zelda: Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, and a wireless Wavebird controller. Should augment my Wii experience during the first few months (I don't have a GameCube so I will be taking full advantage of its backwards compatibility...).

Most of the launch titles look great anyway. If either Zelda, Metroid, or Super Monkey Ball are among my free game selection, I'll choose them (of course, the choice of all three is gonna screw me up big-time!).

Info & Help: No OOT preservation projects in Australia - help...
Time

Hey guys,

Myself and many other Australians on this website have been clamouring for some OOT action for some time. I’ve asked around for copies of moth3r’s PAL transfer but everyone is reluctant to send it internationally. Other people tell me (and my Australian brethren) to seek a copy from someone within the country, but herein lies the chicken-and-egg problem: as far as I know, no one in Australia has these transfers - or at least, no member that I’ve seen/talked to on here.

So, if we’re going to get this ball rolling in Oz, we need someone to take the plunge and send it over. If you are Australian and you do have a copy of moth3r’s PAL transfer, please PM me, but given the highly doubtful probability of this scenario, can somebody please help us out here? A new member on here has expressed interest in getting hold of this, so if someone takes the plunge and sends a copy of the PAL OOT transfer, I promise to reimburse them for postage and costs via money order, and also to copy it and send it to this new member.

Please PM me if you are willing to help.

I don't know where you live that they are taking pre-orders, but I just went to Toys"R"Us today, 6/14/06, and asked people there that I know if they are taking pre-orders. They told me no and they don't know when they will because they still don't have a release date and they don't know the number of units they are going to get. I live in NJ, but I doubt that another Toys"R"Us would be pre-ordering the system. I would presume they would all do the pre-ordering around the same time. The person I know also told me that he hasn't heard of any store pre-ordering the Wii yet.

I asked at an EB in Australia, and they're not taking pre-orders yet either.
