Another change: “Despecializing” the scene of Vader walking through a dark corridor on the Death Star. In the Special Edition, they terribly attempted to fix it by tracking and hand-animating a 2D image of Vader’s face, chestplate, buttons, codpiece and leg armor in an attempt to make him more visible in the scene. This resulted in perspective errors in the mask and garbage mattes around certain areas of the armor.
I decided to just mask in the D+77 source through and fixed it to it’s original form. Although you cant see much of Vader, I feel it makes him more mysterious in the dark.
NOTE: I changed the edit title to “DSG Special Edition” to more elaborate that this is a SE/Adywan style edit, so sorry for the frequent name changes.

And they were never released on DVD in the end!
We got the different 2004 version instead on DVD.

Houston we have a problem.
So today I was removing all the lighsaber/explosion jumpcuts, It’s been going great except for one shot in the movie: the Ben hut ignition. I’ve been yanking my hair out trying to figure out a way to fix that, I’ve tried everything! how did Adywan do that one? all the other shots will be fixed except for this shot, But I will still fix threepio’s shift in that shot.
I was considering forking out for the Mandalorian classic figures just to have on the shelf in my man cave but don’t know if I can justify the amount. It really is crazy, I would hate to be a kid in these times.
Yeah, It would be hell, Imagine the figures where in-stock and only cost like 5 bucks.
parents will be convinced to buy one, or maybe two, or even three, Then the child will have a good-enough collection to play with, but if one cost 20 bucks, and you cant find it in stores, then no-one would by that.
Blame it on Disney, not Hasbro. Disney doesn’t make nearly as many toys as they did in the George Lucas era. Many snark but Star Wars is second to many kids who favour superheroes. They’re not going to produce toys (or merch) unless it will make them money. You see Baby Yoda because that’s where popular demand is and they’ll make a profit off of it. This is different from George who had an action figure made for every character. He understood the market for both kids and collectors alike. The only thing really collectors have now is Hot Toys but they’re more expensive. It’s unfortunately the reality as the only high point in the Disney era is The Force Awakens but I contribute that a lot to everything feeling new and fresh but more importantly it was almost all pushed before the movie came out. It’s why Captain Phasma toys and merch sold like hot cakes but then reality set in with each subsequent film.
well, either way, we probably won’t see any back in stock.
Unfortunately. Believe me I understand the struggle. For the 20th Anniversary of The Phantom Menace there was barely any merch or toys released. However The Empire Strikes Back got significantly more stuff for its 40th. I know Empire is the more popular film within the fandom but Episode I is my favourite Star Wars film. I’d love to have some merch for it. I’d at least like to find a good tee but it’s very limited in that department for the film and Prequels in general compared to the Originals and Sequels.

What the hell happened? either it’s a Baby Yoda shrine or a crappy lightsaber toy.
Online shopping is even a worse situation, a single figure cost over 15 bucks, For a 3 inch figure?

I really like both your and Dat’s current Alderaan explosions. Straight from using the 97SE to an embarrassment of riches.
I don’t loathe the Praxis ring, but what I don’t like is that every major explosion of a planetoid object in the OTSE has it. To me, one is fine but multiple gets weird. And personally, I feel the original Death Star explosion is the one to keep, since I’d feel a little weird going from the SE Battle of Yavin to the original explosion, though its probably just from conditioning.
Okay the death star will have a ring. also by matching it to the 97SE I mean color correcting and Degraining it.

I actually got the HD version of his shot, It was perfect except for the camera shake.
I tried to remove it with stabilization, but that didn’t work because there was to much motion blur.

Sounds very interesting, just out of curiosity do you plan on doing a 97SE edit as well.
Yes, my ESB and ROJT edits will be based of of the 97SE Blu-ray, color corrected of course.
This is going to be based on the same 4K scan as 4K77, just restored differently and exported at 1080p.
This will also use other 35mm prints including 4K97, for its better shadow and overall detail.
I would like for this to be the definitive restoration, Kinda like Mike Verta’s work. with natural color instead of theatrical color. I haven’t started work so there isn’t much to say about it yet.
(also I wont be doing ESB or ROJT)
