Star Wars: A New Hope DEVASTATOR EDITION (V.2 a WIP)
Time

SAD UPDATE:
this is something I don’t want to do and I’m still regretting it, but I’ve decided to cancel this project…
The reason is crystal clear: considering Ady’s and Hal’s efforts this project is basically obsolete. I will be releasing what I’ve completed so far which is quite a lot, The editing/fixes/audio are done, all that’s left is just R2’s light’s, lasers blasts, lightsabers as well as others, so unless you’re a sucker for continuity then this cut will suffice. this plan will also let me finish my other project: GOUT RESTORED which I think doesn’t have any competition and needs finishing. I may do a V2 of this project, later on, this time sourcing from the 19SE source, but that is still up for debate. so that is it folks if you want the cut then just pm me.

I never commented, even if this is one of the edits I’m waiting with more hype, and I’ve followed from the beginning.
Now it’s the right time, haha 😉

An experiment I wanted to try is removing some of the womprats of the SE scene of the Landspeeder entering Mos Eisley, similar to Adywan’s version.

https://streamable.com/4oexso

It’s still needs a bit of tweaking, especially with the tracking of the patch I’m covering the womprats over. I probably wont(?) actually add this in the edit but I heard that Hal9000 wants it for his edit, so I’ll fix it up for him.

wow, can I get a copy as well I’ll try to remove the rest of those rats…

Is it just me or is the new laser bolts look slightly pixelated or blurry? Either way its pretty good.

doesn’t look pixelated to me…

Help: Is there still a way to obtain Flunk 1997 special editions?

Sorry - the Fan Edit / Preservation Forum Rules and FAQ don’t allow for such links on the site, so they have been removed.

Please give the Fan Edit / Preservation Forum Rules and FAQ a read-through asap - thank you.

If you guys want to PM each other the info to sort out how to get hold of the 1997 SE Flunk version, go ahead.

Seemingly, the Flunk 1997 Special Edition releases are still available on usenet… (if not still on certain torrent sites too) 👍

For anyone searching for the various Star Wars preservation projects on here, this is a good place to start…

An Index Of Projects & Help Thread for Star Wars Preservations…

^ Please give the above thread a thorough read through - before making a new thread asking for project information and how to acquire them. The site would soon sink under the sheer number of request threads if everyone did this - which is why we ask members here not to do so, and to have a look around the site for information and projects, before posting. Thank you.

sorry, I forgot 😦

Another change: “Despecializing” the scene of Vader walking through a dark corridor on the Death Star. In the Special Edition, they terribly attempted to fix it by tracking and hand-animating a 2D image of Vader’s face, chestplate, buttons, codpiece and leg armor in an attempt to make him more visible in the scene. This resulted in perspective errors in the mask and garbage mattes around certain areas of the armor.

I decided to just mask in the D+77 source through and fixed it to it’s original form. Although you cant see much of Vader, I feel it makes him more mysterious in the dark.

NOTE: I changed the edit title to “DSG Special Edition” to more elaborate that this is a SE/Adywan style edit, so sorry for the frequent name changes.

looks amazing DSG!

Thats Impossible!
Remember what george said in 2004:
“(There will only be one. And it won’t be what I would call the ‘rought cut’, it’ll be the ‘final cut.’ The other one will be some sort of interesting artifact that people will look at and say, ‘There was an earlier draft of this.’…What ends up being important in my mind is what the DVD version is going to look like, because that’s what everybody is going to remember. The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition).”

I think George said that around 1997, for his 1st Special Edition. And they were never released on DVD in the end!
We got the different 2004 version instead on DVD.
Though that is still a great quote. 😃

oh, sorry typo.
