This is my favorite way to watch the 1997 version along with Althor1138’s laserdisc preservation.
Man, I adore Althor1138’s effort, what an amazing preservation.
I have no idea why there is no thread for this yet.
so a few years back Adywan made a reconstruction of the 1997 SE version of ESB,
Using ESB:R’s color grade this project looks beautiful, and it’s in 1080p!
I was able to get my hands on this, If you want it shoot me a pm.
Again, all credit goes to Adywan.

Mod Edit: adywan’s project thread for his HD reconstruction of the 1997 Special Edition for Empire Strikes Back, is:-
adywan’s THE STAR WARS SAGA - 1080P AVCHD DVD-9 for PS3 & Blu-Ray players - Episodes 1, 4 & 5 available - '97 HD ESB
Use Film9. It’s an automated restoration software and it’s free and easy to use. It’s in French but you can just select the English option.
it doesn’t work on MAC.

I feel like this would kinda diminish the surprise of seeing it in Empire.
that’s what I was thinking.
Can I get a link to the master please
Pm’d
.

It’d be nice if I could stream it on like google drive or something. I downloaded it but my computer wasn’t able to play it (it’s able to play 1080p but not 4K).
It’s not 4k, it’s ProRes. I’ll re-render it at standard H.264.
Do you guys like this idea:

I personally can’t do this but I’ve heard AviSynth and VirtualDub are good at this sort of thing.
Avysinth doesn’t work on M1.
does vapoursynth work? https://www.vapoursynth.com/
Sadly not, Damn! I knew I should’ve gotten intel.
But I was tempted by the faster processing power though.

I’m done, Rendering it now.
If you want it just PM me.
FYI it’s ProRes, so its rather large.Wow, already?! That’s awesome! Does it have the reanimated blaster bolts and new visual effects or just the color correction?
No, this isn’t the finished edit this is just the master, that the edit will be built on.

so I have this shot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Xzw_hxvgZa72DtdoAoV7Io7xGaIaLKxm/view?usp=sharing
That needs MAJOR scratch cleanup, Can someone do it for me?, Thanks.
Here is an example of what can be done, I can get the amazing quality of the 2019 master, while retaining the amazing color grade by Adywan!
test: http://www.framecompare.com/screenshotcomparison/0JB9FNNU
might do the whole movie like this instead, MAYBE.
The viewer could mux in any audio for the master, so that’s no problem, benduwan.
And sounds great! Will look forward to both the master and edit!
Thanks.
how many tracks will this have?
only english or others like german?
thanks
The master or the edit?
UPDATE.
happy Halloween!
Starting from today, I will be using the 2019 master as a secondary source to the old Blu-ray.
considering the extra detail, I will be replacing shit shots with this new master. And the first scene on tatooine
will be completely replaced with this source. And for scenes that don’t look good in EITHER master, will be replaced with 4K77. this source will be released as a “master” for editors to use and what not. there also will be slight despecializing in this version too. Remember this version is not going to have effects, this is just the master that the effects will be built on.
Here are some examples:
(these are actually adywan’s samples, I’m just using them as an example.)

Now onto Devastator, I will be redoing a lot of shots, that I was either too lazy, or two purist to work on.
Such as the death star battle. mos eisly and other things.
can I get a link buzz?
thanks.
Good morning, folks.
I have been trying to snag the 1080 copy of this for several days now. I’m using Jdownloader and it’s telling me it will complete in 12 days.
Does anyone have a .MOV of this somewhere on a google drive that I can download from seeing as it’s been out for a bit now?
Thanks regardless!
I’ve got the 720p version on google drive if you want, just send me a pm.
Unfortunately that method won’t work, as the subtitles are burned-in during parts where Han and Greedo talk in the Cantina. I could easily replace the subtitles where Han is talking, but I can’t replace it during Greedo’s scenes, as it would wipe out the amazing VFX work that Adywan did.
So, it looks like I’m stuck with these subtitles!
I had been hoping to replace the subtitles, so that they would match the original releases, such as what you see on the 4K77 release.Cheers,
That’s a good idea! I will try that out.
Thanks very much! The subtitles are actually burned in. But I think the best way to do it, is to got to the end frame where the subtitle fades off, and just take a freeze frame of that and place that part on the rest or the moving footage.
I may actually give it a go later. How’d it go?
Well can’t you just replace that scene with adywan’s color adjusted Blu-ray?
(which I can hook you up, just send me a pm.)

JCpenny.
8K doesn’t seem realistic, as they already took forever to release it in 4k, after like 7 2011 Blu-ray repackagings.
even at that, it looked like Bantha crap. too much DNR, ill colors, HDR (wich always f***s with film colors), and finally the price: $74:99 (USD).
