send george lucas a dress.

for a contibution of just $1.00 you can help George get a brand new floral pattern dress
he can wear it around all the time, like the pussy that he's become.

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its not that hard to release the originals just remaster the picture quality and re-rotoscope the lightsabers, remove those nasty matte lines, and there you go the OOT on dvd

That's what I thought the SE was going to be in the first place! I have to go with Gaffer on this one.

NDP for me! or Green!

the conservatives can be pretty right at times. they hate gays and the poor, well harper does anyways. and they were mad we didn't support Bush about going into Iraq.

But the Conservative platform really isn't all that right. They're not about to abolish abortions or gay marriages, and they support public health care....really, they're popularists, just like the Liberals. Gundark is right. They'll do anything for the votes.

And, on a lighter note, I prefer the fiver. It has a hockey game on it!

Yeah, we don't really have a right-wing in Canada. We used to, in the Reform Party, but as soon as they became the Canadian Alliance (after people noticed their Conservative Reform Alliance Party spelled, well, CRAP), they moved closer to centre, and when they merged with the Progressive Conservatives (an oxymoronic misnomer if I've ever seen one) to become the Conservative Party of Canada, even more so.

Really, the Conservatives are just right of centre, the Liberals just left of centre, the NDP just left, and the Bloc just in Quebec. Sad, too, because I think Duceppe would make the best PM of the four.

Hey, yeah, maybe I should ring in with my own opinion. I, for one, can't stand the thought of a winter election, because that means campaigning during the holiday season. I don't particularly like the Liberal party, but they are probably the best choice, given many of the issues.

The four (main) parties in Canada are:
Liberals
Conservatives
New Democratic Party (and if you need to know where they stand on the political spectrum, consider that they evolved out of the Canadian Communist Party)
Bloc Quebecois

Now, the Bloc are not a national party, but only contest in ridings in the Province of Quebec. Their main platform is the separation of Quebec from Canada -- and they hate Liberals.

Really, the Liberals and the NDP are left-wing, the Conservatives and the Bloc right. Don't try comparing to Republicans and Democrats, though

I am a Conservative, but that doesn't mean I like their leader, Stephen Harper. Conservativism is about maintaining the status quo, which is why I'll likely end up voting Liberal.

Blade Runner OV vs. DC
Time
Adam, you're cutting yourself down left and right. I should have guessed from you having been "looking at the content of the theatrical version of this" rahter than, say, "watching the theatrical version."

Now, I'll admit, I've never seen Blade Runner, and I've heard both have their merits, but how can you say that the DC "added to the quality of the film" when you haven't seen the film in question?

Translation:

The Liberals had a minory government, meaning they had the most seats, but not enough to win a vote without an alliance with another party. This has happened a few times in Canadian history, and arrives from us having (right now) four main political parties, rather than just two like the U.S.

Recently, the Liberals have come under scandal (well, the scandal's old, but it's official now), and the other parties have been waiting for the chance to bring them down. They introduced a motion saying that they no longer had confidence in the Liberal government. The motion was passed, because nobody was allied with the Liberals, and so we're back to the polls for the second time in 18 months.

Rank the changes made to the OT from worst to best (or least worst?)
Time
Because Shaw was there first. Sole reason.

From worst to best.

Hayden
Greedo shoots first (and, apparantly, is a worse shot than the stormtroopers! How'd he survive as a bounty hunter anyway?)
Fett's voice
Jabba
Naboo at the end
Really, anything that changed the timing of the films. The films were brilliantly edited and never slowed down (well, Jabba's palace excluded). IF the changes had merely been cosmetic, I could have dealt with that.

But, to me, most effects in the OOT hold up, but some don't. I don't like the old lightsabers, I don't like the puppet Yoda, I don't like the model Tantive IV, etc. Most of my complaints are with ANH, not ESB or ROTJ. ANH still needs some serious work. At the beginning, he needs to replace the Tatooine matte paintings with a better looking Tatooine.

Of course most of your complaints are with ANH and not the other two! You haven't seen them!

Well, really, it wasn't much of a surprise.

The house of commons just voted on a motion of non-confidence in the Liberal government. 171-133. Motion passed. History in the making, this is the first time in Canadian history that a government has been overturned on a simple non-confidence motion. An election will be called tomorrow after our prime minister asks the Governor General to dissolve parliament. We'll be going to the polls in late January sometime. I just don't want to see campaigning on the holidays.

Adam, I don't mind your opinion. In fact, there are times I agree with you. I think it was a good move to update the OT to match the PT to make a saga. I don't have to like it to see that it was a good move. What I'm arguing is that you're not getting all the information before forming your opinion. You say the OOT is outdated, and, yes, perhaps it is, but I can't take your opinion seriously if you haven't watched the OOT in forming that opinion.

I hate analogies, but you seem to like them, so I'll try one (and, just for you, I'll Kubricize it): If I told you I thought 2010: The Year We Made Contact was a better movie than 2001 because it explained things better, and that 2001 was outdated because life wasn't like that in 2001, you might disagree with me, but I am entitled to my opinion, right? If you later found out that I'd never seen 2001, you'd be pretty peeved that I'd make such a bold statement without any backing, even if I told you I'd "read a synopsis" or something.

My point is, you were building an opinion, and letting us know where you stand, but knowing that you've never seen the whole OOT, well, it just pulled the rug from underneath you. You don't have a leg to stand on.
