Back to kev's question, about the only mature thng in this thread, I'm going to be away for Valentine's Day because it's in the middle of my mid-term break, so we're going out for dinner tomorrow night, instead. I am, however, tempted to watch the "Price is Right $1,000,000 Primetime Specia"l that night. Bob Barker is second in my heart only to, you guessed it, Chuck Norris.

I hate the above post. Not kev for posting it, but the fact that it's been used by, like, four people already. If you find the thread boring, either make it interesting or don't bother to reply!

On a different note, my Sens were absolutely spanked by the Rangers last night. The Rangers! Lundqvist is amazing!

But I do agree. Every thread he posts in soon becomes, at least for a while, a thread about him. Granted, as noted by this post, I'm just as much to blame for that as any of us (excepting AWK, of course. We may talk about him, but he is him)

Why should they be the ones who have to learn tolerance? Shouldn't we also be tolerant of others' beliefs? Tolerance doesn't really work unless everyone is tolerant, and these cartoons don't go very far towards showing tolerance and respect for Islam. Besides, free speech isn't really free and never has been. Those cartoons, in another light, could be viewed as hate speech, and in cases where our free speech causes harm to another's culture, I feel it should be limited.

And it's wrong to depict the Prophet in any demeaning or degrading way. Back in the Middle Ages, one would be beheaded for insulting the Prophet Mohammed. For them, there is a punishment worse than death for such an insult. As an analogy, how do you think many Christians would feel if a comic of Jesus Christ performing sodomy was republished in the name of free speech? Do you think they'd just shrug it off? No, probably not.
Now, I'm not condoning the actions of the extremists, but I think you should at least try to understand the sentiment, the insult, the outrage they must feel over these cartoons.

That's what the world is coming to. You can't have freedom of speech because people are so concerned with political correctness and things being offensive. I think Bush is having a bit too much impact on the world.
I pity those Muslims killing people over a frikkin cartoon.

Ok. At the end of the post, it said "Those days left us and eventually Firefly came, those were the great old days."
That could be taken either way

The University of Saskatchewan Students Union (USSU) wanted to switch theoir support from one national lobby group (CASA) to another (CFS), but CFS requires that they hold a referendum on the issue. The USSU would have done it last year, but didn't feel there was enough time to prepare for the referendum, so they held it in October. The students voted by a slim margin (52%) to leave CASA and join the CFS. There was much bitching and official complaining during the referendum, though, because of a lack of preparation, some illegal lobbying, and the fact that two members of CFS's Referendum Officiating Council were also heading up the 'Yes' campaign. Given all this, this week the USSU's Elections Board has recommended that the USSU negate the results of the referendum due to poor handling.
Now, the USSU wants to join CFS, but if they overturn the Election Board's recommendations, there could be legal action. On the other side, since the CFS does not recognize the USSU Elections Board, they see the referendum as binding and have already ratified the USSU as members, meaning that they can start collecting fees from the USSU, and if they hold out, there could be legal action. I laugh because I voted 'No', and had money on this very outcome.

You're absolutely right, and he kept Yoda's exile out. All good ideas. All those scenes were unnecessary in those films, and unnecessary in any other film. They're deleted for a reason (though I did like the Greedo scene)
