In one of the episodes, they actually show Harrison Ford and he looks like he's aged about 20-30 years so I'm assuming the 50s or 60s are the time period from which he's narrating.

Because the series strived for 'historical accuracy,' what with gumping their way into famous historical figures every episode, all the characters had specific ages and dates for the storylines.

Corey Carrier played Jones age 10
Sean Patrick Flanery age 16
George Hall (the narrator Jones) age 93

In the episode about the blues (loved the music in that one) that Flanery and Harrison Ford appeared together, Ford was Jones age 50 and Flanery was age 16 in 1920, Chicago.

So that means Indiana Jones was born in 1904.

The bit with Ford and his Indian partner was in 1954

And the series was being narrated from 1997 with a 93 year old Jones.

So when I was watching the show around '92 it actually took place in the future, sorta. Make of it what you will.

It wasn't a great a series, and not very Indiana-Jones-like IMO, but I enjoyed it for what it was, and some of the episodes were pretty good. For all I know, this is where Darabont got his big break so later he could direct Shawshank.

anyone know any of the details on that set?
they all in anamorphic widescreen?
please say yes..

Sorry Luke, but PA 4 & 5 are pan and scan, although the rest are widescreen. Warner's excuse was that they couldn't find a widescreen print for those two.

All movies include a trailer and behind the scenes featurette, while the first one is 20th Anniversary Special Edition so it comes with a cast and crew commentary track. Not much I'm afraid but it's better than nothing (and some would argue more than they deserve ...)

Yeah an eternal Indy in modern times could be interesting, but ther's no way its gonna happen. The cameo chase bit Ford did on Young Indy with a Native American partner was lacklustre at best, and frankly Ford is more than a little old. I'm just happy to let sleeping dogs lie and avoid a possble episode 1 drop in quality.

Besides, the other guys are right, Indy isn't immortal and he's well established as the elderly narrator in the fedora on the young Indy series, which is all canon to lucas with all its official chapter numbers tied to the trilogy.

Yeah, I read that a while ago. Thanks for the link sifo-dyas.

I used to buy Filmthreat years ago when I thought they were a really great alternative film magazine. Then they started getting a swelled head and started marginalizing themselves with really niche articles and too much editorializing. At least they occasionally still have some interesting pieces though, such us this one about the OT

Star Wars on The Simpsons

Yeah, they're working on the movie now. Originally they were gonna wait until the series was over, but they've decided to go ahead and start preliminary talks now. Who knows, maybe the series will never leave the airwaves (anything is possible with the Simpsons, right?)

And yes, while I do love the Simpsons, I'm not some Jimbo-sized fan. The show is most definitely not perfect. Nothing is really, not even the original OT (blasphemy), but just like the OT, for me the show still hits way more than it misses so I still look forward to it whenever its on. But yeah, if it ever got to the point where I didn't think a whole season was worth owning on DVD, I'd probably feel the same way as you do. I just hope that either that never happens or that it's further down the line.

Right on with the Labyrith! I love this movie and I never even thought of it as a musical. Bowie is terrific, but I gotta admit it's Jennifer Connelly that's kept this near the top of my all-time favs list. I just wish they wouldn't rehash the DVD so much.

I actually prefer the opera, but I also like operettas a lot (you know, the predecessors of musicals, something between opera and musical ... but it has more class than most musicals do .... I hate Andrew Lloyd Webber's stuff, except for his awesome Requiem ... err, back to operettas) :

The Bat
Madamme Butterfly
Countess Mariza
Land of Smiles
The Merry Widow
Orpheus in the Underworld
etc.

(I don't know the English titles of most other operettas, sorry...)

Oh, and as for musicals:
The Bitter Suite (that's the Xena musical, and it rocked !!!)
Doc

That's an impressive list Doc. I'm more of a Marriage of Figaro man, but the one that caught my eye was The Bitter Suite. That was an amazing musical! Best. Television. Musical. Ever.

The music fit the story, the characters, the drama and it was wonderful looking to boot (the CD soundtrack was the only gift of mine that my ex ever loved, and kept). You a fan of the series?

I thought the theatrical cut and the director's cut were pretty good already. I wonder how much more really interesting stuff is left in the TV version? (now if only someone would release the extended German cut of Peterson's The Neverending Story, another one of my 80s' favourites)
