A message to Jay in regards to DanielB
Time
Wow, I know I've been gone for a while, but I had no idea that something like this had happened to the board.

After reading some of the posts to catch up I must agree with most of the sentiments shared here. It's unfortunate that one individual has had such a negative impact on the community here, but this can happen anywhere in life. While we're often forced to accept such conditions (such as at work, etc) this board and Star Wars in general is meant to be fun! And when it isn't anymore I can see why people will just want to go. I just want let Laserman know (and all the other hardworking contributing members) that I really appreciate your efforts. In the future when things have cooled down and after a well deserved break if you ever decide to change your mind about this whole thing I hope you will come back.

As for the rest of the projects, while it may seem too late to offer any help now, I'm part of that silent majority that really enjoys what you all do, but doesn't always make it known. I agree with the Bizzle that most people need a kick in the pants sometimes once they get a little lazy and complacent as you can add me to the 'johnny come lately camp.' I know that Laserman didn't get the groundswell of support that he had expected, but perhaps this is just the kind of thing that was needed to get it started.

In any case I hope that the good peope still here will stick together and get through this. As they say through thick and thin, good times and bad, that's when you know you've made a real friend. It would be a shame if things had to end like this.

Like I said before, these are just some MagnoliaFan covers I cobbled together from bits and pieces of stuff including Rikter. I wanted the PT poster covers to match with the OT poster DVD covers so they could sit together like a series.

Aargh... on my screen they're huge! Are they supposed to be like that, um can anyone see them now?

I caved in and bought my first Harry Potter movie today. But it was worth it, I loved this film in the theatre and it will make a great gift for my little cousins.

If they get their own though I'll probably keep it as Cuaron did an outstanding job. Not only is it an excellent film in own right (the first two were just 'meh'), but one of the best of the year.

The "Dr. Gonzo" Trilogy DVD Info and Feedback Thread (Released)
Time
Wow! Welcome to the OT Forum Doc Gonzo!

Hope you stick around, but I just wanted to let you how much myself and others have really enjoyed your work. While you intended it for your private use I hope you don't mind that it's found its way here. The great work people are doing here now are one way or another very much inspired by your terrific efforts.

Thanks again!

UPCOMING DVDs
Time
Thanks for clearing that up guys. Of course I know about the 2 Ewok movies, but I didn't put 2 and 2 together with the Live refernce, doh! Nice summary of the plot starkiller, I actually didn't remember what they were about(haven't seen 'em sice since the original broadcast, kind of a cross between adventure mountain and escape from witch mountain).

Anyway, although I prefer Armageddon, they say the Rock has the superior transfer. Also, Armageddon has additional scenes added into the cut, and I don't know about that (the movie's already too long).

The Rock is the better transfer because it's anamorphic while Armageddon is not. Here's a review comparing three different versions of Armageddon on DVD.

And here are DVD File's reviews for Armageddon and DVD Times review of The Rock. Basically The Rock looks best, but Armageddon has better extras, so there's no definite win-win choice. Of course as I said before, both movies are terrible so it's really lose-lose either way . Hope that helps...

Fuck me, it's already bad enough of what we've had of Fett, we don't need to see the YOUNG versions.

Agreeance.

Double agreeance.

Discussion: Your most prized star wars collectible
Time
Nice choice Rik, but I hope I can say ditto for me someday. As for myself...

------------

When I was a kid it would have been all the surviving action figures I had left. Man, did I play with things!

I don't collect much now... but amongst my favourites would be my Letterbox Collector's Edition of the OT of course, the last time the Complete Star Wars Saga (as it was still known then) was released with no mention of the special editions or prequels.

I'm pretty proud of the 2 packs of unopened Star Wars cards I still have (I know they're probably rotting away in there with the stick of gum, but I just can't bring myself to open them).

And finally the Marvel comic adaptions. Before the days of home video those were the best ways to relive the movies over and over again, especially with that spectacular Al Williamson art!. They were so beat up, I'vd had to replace them a couple of times, I've even managed to snag a couple of different editions.

Episode III Teaser Trailer
Time
That's just to be expected, glad I didn't have to stay up for Access Hollywood to catch it though!

Hmm, regardless of the end quality of the movie itself, I gotta admit I do like the trailer:
1) Nice touch using ol' Alec from ep 4 as narration. Talk about coming full circle. You have admit, nothing is as powerful as nostaligia from the '70s (except maybe... the force).
2)Liked that shot of Vader "frankenstein' style. The way his hands and arms were propped up next him, in an ackward unfinished fashion. Nice touch.
3)Voice was a little weak, "Yes... Master" wasn't quite as strong, but can't expect him to be full on ass-kickin' Vader right off the bat.
4)Yoda still looks bad (No more sonic the hedgehog... please).
5)Lookin' forward to the ol' Kenobi-Anakin showdown!

But as good as this teaser was, it still wasn't as good as the Brick Wars trailer for Episode 3. Anyone agree? It was kinda close to the final thing...
