Meyer and producer Harve Bennett sat down and watched the entire series though. That’s how they got the idea to revisit Khan.
Bennett did, did Meyer? I didn’t know that.
Maybe I’m not remembering it correctly, but Meyer made two well regarded Trek films and contributed to the screenplay of IV, so I think he versed himself in it more than Baird ever did.
I seem to remember Meyer mentioning watching the series in the II director’s cut commentary track, but I could be wrong.

I grew up with the OT as a six hour movie that ran together in my head to the point where I forgot much of what actually happened in which movie. So I didn’t mind the sibling revalation at all. Nowadays, I think it’s regrettable that they went that direction as it’s a bit too easy, but I don’t mind much. I still love ROTJ.

I’ve been reading Geoff Johns New 52 Justice League. Sigh. I had such high hopes.
Skip anything and everything from the New 52 and go into Rebirth. Actually, the JL book still sucks, but I’m enjoying Superman (editorial costume mandates aside), and I’ve heard great things about other books. Or go backwards and read older stuff, but seriously, I highly reccommend avoiding most, if not all, of the New 52.
Just to derail the football talk, am I the only one who hates that right wing shill Ben Shapiro? People think he’s smart because he talks fast, but all he is is a die hard partisan that will defend conservative Republicanism at all cost. He’s one of the most astoundingly dishonest political sources I’ve ever encountered.

I found a copy in great shape at a local con and got it pretty cheap too.
I’ve slept on it and, while I still don’t think it’s that bad, it definitely isn’t good. For a crew that’s supposedly been together for 7 years, they all act like newbies.
Iirc, it’s $6 a month with commercials, and $10 without. Other channels don’t have paywalls quite like this, it’s just the streaming companies like Netflix and Hulu. ABC, for example, has a streaming site that’s free so long as you already have standard TV service. Anyway, it’d probably end up being a lot cheaper to wait for it’s eventual Blu-Ray or DVD release (which I assume will happen at some point, right?) than to pay $10 every month until the season ends.

Saw the episode. I liked it, but not enough to subscribe to CBS’ paywall. My parents seemed to like it enough to want to pirate future episodes though, so we’ll see how this goes.
