The Last Jedi: Official Review and Opinions Thread ** SPOILERS **

Good Force, I don’t get why people are making such a big deal of Luke freaking out one time. He turned his lightsaber on after being bombarded by the dark side Force coming from Ben, and he immediately felt ashamed and was about to turn it off and leave. Just because he helped Vader 30 years ago doesn’t make him infallible.

I’m finally reading FACPOV. I really liked all the stories until the Beru one, which could’ve been good but she spent the whole time talking about how much her cooking teacher loved her blue-milk cheese. She could have reminisced on raising Luke, she could’ve talked about early hints he may have been Force sensitive, she could’ve talked about anything but, no, the entire story was wasted.

There was a moment while watching Kylo and Rey’s scenes together where I believed they were going to become the next star-crossed lovers like Han & Leia and Anakin & Padme. Fortunately, it was nothing like that, and I could continue to enjoy the movie without walking out in disgust.

FTFM

When Yoda hit Luke with his cane, it did actually touch him, right? I thought between that and the “I came here to die” statement that the projection Luke was an already-dead Luke appearing as a Force ghost. I was happy to be wrong, otherwise we wouldn’t have the beautiful sunset scene, but now I have questions about the corporeality of Force ghosts.

I liked the Canto Bight stuff. It may have made the overall tone incosistent, but I needed a bit of a breather sometimes after how heavy the main stuff got sometimes. Plus: Benecio Del Toro! Benecio Del Toro!!! I think the scene where they call Maz before going and she’s in a “union dispute” was weak. That might’ve been my least favorite scene in the whole thing.

I Am Trash Man by yours truly

The shittiest stolen music “vaporwave” ep I could make while bored and goofing off in GarageBand on my laptop.

Link in sig.

Just saw this so I gave it a listen.

It’s not as bad as you think it is, there’s potential in there for sure. Keep going, and keep experimenting!

I took your advice to keep experimenting and made… whatever this is.

was I hearing things or did Finn call someone a ‘bastard’ at the end? Sure, if you’re being pedantic it’s not a swear word…except, it actually is isnt it.

Yeah I heard it. That, a couple damns, and a “big ass door” from Poe. Still very mild, but I guess this is the most foul-mouthed SW flick to date.

With the distinct lack of the original versions on the free market in any decent quality, I can’t say I blame them.

Being that they’re just some movies, I can’t say I blame them.

That too, of course, but even if they want to watch them, it’s a pain for newcomers to figure out the exact best way in.

Whether or not it’s the best, I think TLJ is definitely the most confident SW film since ESB. With ROTJ, Lucas wanted everything tied up neatly. With the prequels, Lucas was highly insecure and bitter, especially as the movies went on. With TFA, Abrams was afraid to deviate too far from the familiar, and R1 had to fit in with canon and tie right into the original. Rian Johnson doesn’t care what you think about Star Wars, he made his Star Wars. It’s unabashedly personal, and I love it.

I’m freaking whipped, y’all. I love that movie. The grand, mythic scope, the intensity, two and a half hours and I still didn’t want it to end.

Also, I didn’t read hardly any posts before writing this, so I can’t wait to see how contrarian my opinion is. 😛

Good to hear about another person who loved the film! What was the sequence that stuck with you the most? Considering how many amazing ones there are 😃

So many, man. Snoke’s throne room, Luke and Yoda, Luke’s binary sunset death, so much of it was phenomenal.
