Based on what I’ve read about them, I assume they’re great.
Based on what I’ve read about them, I assume they’re great.
I want a more faithful Hobbit adaptation. TV, Film, I don’t care. Good Lord, the recent trilogy was a mess.
I know there’s a few great fanedits, but I don’t own the official versions and likely won’t until the price inevitably comes down in a few years. Plus I would need a computer that I can use to actually download and burn movies since my last few attempts ended in disaster.
Alas, it is true.
In book adaptations, there’s usually one or two changes that can make or break a movie. Here, many of the changes (like Bombadil) work to make a better movie. While I miss him, I recognize that he wouldn’t fit well.
The example I like to use of just one change ruining the movie for me is the exclusion of Locke and Demosthenes from Ender’s Game.
Five words at a time.
Yeah, I know there’s no way they could have fit him in, but I always really liked him and when I first saw the movie I was really sad that he was never even mentioned.
I’ve never read any EU outside of the Thrawn trilogy (not because I don’t want to, but because I can never find any pre-PT EU at bookstores here)
That said, if a Google search is anything to go off of, I’d say Starkiller easily.
The Fellowship Of The Ring (Theatrical)
I’m rereading and watching LOTR at the moment (read one, watch it, repeat until done).
Movie is great. Exciting, grand, fun. I love it.
A+ as a movie
A as an adaptation
I’m not too bothered by most of the changes from book to movie. Usually, I forgive a lot as long as the tone and spirit of the book is kept. However, I still wish Tom Bombadil wasn’t removed. 😪
I can officially unofficially confirm that.
Even one word?
Especially even one word
:-p
What if he inhaled and was about to speak but then the credits interrupted him?
It could also be considered a sidequel?
These terms all sound like brands of alcohol heavy cold medicine! 😉
For those whom PreQuel did not work well, ask your doctor about SideQuel. In clinical trials, SideQuel has been proven to be more effective than PreQuel, and with fewer negative side effects.
Not kidding, people insisting that the 2004 SE’s are the original theatrical versions. I show them something from the original, and they’re like “why did they get rid of Jabba, why did they cut out the wampa, where’s that funny song with screaming cockroach guy”.
*infinite faceplams*
My palm is now permenantly embedded within my face
The original copyright info for Star Wars does not include “Episode IV” or “A New Hope”. So the “official” original title for that is just Star Wars
Not so for TFA, whose official original title is Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens
Well I must admit that the guy has a point. If it was a proper ending, it would be like ESB when they set on something (she would not meet Luke in this film), or we should at least have some (small) conclusion from the scene in terms of dialogue. The way it is now is really bad, especially it makes it awkward for the sequel.
Is she not “set” on giving him the saber? Did you want her to explicitly state “I am going to give you this saber back.” and Luke reply “Well, gee, thanks! I’ve been missing that for a while. Glad that’s concluded.” Would that dialogue count for you?
I’ll never call it “Episode VII” but it is apparently “officially” called that. I’m glad it isn’t on the box art so it doesn’t matter much to me what’s “official”.
If this is anything to go off of, it seems Episode VII is in the official title.
…
Now, what about the black slave stereotypes of TFA ? Finn is a black dude who deserts his masters (his main job was toilet cleaner), who gets a new name thanks to a white man, who drinks the same water as an animal, and who gets beaten by Rey because he’s accused of having stolen the jacket of a white man by a white ginger droïd ? I clearly find this quite offensive.
Oscar Isaac isn’t white. At least, I don’t think he is. Isn’t he latino?
section of the internet that
Doctor Strange looks amazing. Still don’t much care for Benedict Cumberbatch as Strange. I like him in Sherlock, I don’t really know why I didn’t want him as Strange, something about it just feels off somehow. Anyway, I’m sure he’ll do a good job, and this movie will be great visually.
I’m glad the new Spider-Man logo seems to take inspiration from comic books rather than Playstation logos.
The fact that there’s just so much EU material and none of it ever interests me much when I see shelves full of it at bookstores. It’s mostly PT era stuff (like Darth Bane and Plagueis and other crap I don’t want to read). I can’t ever find many OT related books.
Worst case scenario; I think R1 would be more Hunger Games with X-Wings and TIE Fighters rather than Divergent. The difference being that Hunger Games movies are watchable at worst, where Divergent movies are utter garbage.
The source I read earlier said specifically that they were showing 1997 SE film. Since (I assume) the 2011 version was never put to film, I believe it is the 97 version.
The 97 version is the most tolerable SE. If the OUT becomes available, I might actually watch the 97 versions from time to time* as a neat alternate viewing experience. Since the OUT is not available, I’ll likely pass on this.
*Not often. Maybe like once a year, since I watch the old 95 tapes several times a year.
I love you
You love me
With a great big hug
and a kiss from me to you
Once, someone told me “I know everything about Star Wars, more than you do. Ask me any question.”
He never got any of them right. He claimed "I only know the movies, not the books or anything. All of them were basic questions regarding the OT.
How to tell if something is racist.
Do most average people of specific race in question find it offensive?
If yes, it is racist.
