Star Trek: Into Darkness

Star Trek '09 quite surprised me. I thought that this one would too. I had seen bits and pieces of it, but never had I watched all of it. Now I have (well, it’s not over yet, there’s only a few minutes left) and this movie is a disaster. The action and effects are quite good and the acting is fine, but the story is a broken mess of bad ideas and villain plans that make no sense. Also, what happened to Kirk’s arc in 2009? All that stuff about him becoming a responsible leader is thrown away in the first scene just because they needed cheap tension between him and Spock!

Back to the Future: Part III - B+

and, for what it’s worth:

Back to the Future: The Ride

I wish more defunct simulator rides would be put on Blu Ray like this one has. Especially Disney’s original Star Tours (and the recently replaced Soarin’ Over California, though I don’t know what movie they’d pair it with).

SPOILERS:

I wish that it would’ve ended with the bunker exploding and her finding out that the air isn’t poisonous.

How would you explain what’s her name from Silicon Valley showing up looking all fried, then? Or for that matter, Emmett kind-of-sort-of witnessing the disaster? There needed to be something going on outside of John Goodman’s head; otherwise it’s just another maniac with a bunker movie.

Lady was a paid actress. Emmett was too but Howard really did kill him, because method acting gone too far, I guess.

The Dream of the Giant Fractal Woodlouse.
Time

This afternoon I took a nap (for about two and 1/2 hours) and I had a strange dream that I only remember some brief moments of. I was laying on the floor somewhere next to a friend of mine and my dog approached us and walked around us for a while before falling on to the floor with us. Then I climbed over my friend to grab the dog. Then everything went black, and I felt a plastic bottle in my hand.

I haven’t been to get comics since FCBD last month. Last comics I read are:

(I guess I should find the next issue to finish that arc.)

I love how John Byrne derides Superman: The Animated Series for killing off Dan Turpin – claiming it was incredibly disrespectful to Jack Kirby, whom Turpin’s likeness was based on – but still defends this degrading piece of garbage storyline.

What is the rest of the storyline? I haven’t looked into it much. All I know is Mr. Miracle’s there.

EDIT: Just looked it up and if it weren’t for the fact that this was right around the time of Watchmen, TDKR, I’d say that sounds fake.

A “children’s film” is a film where the intended prinary audience is children. Toy Story and it’s sequels are children’s films, but they are very good ones because they don’t pander to the children. Because they don’t pander to them, there are more mature underlying themes and ideas. Some they’ll pick up on, some they won’t at first but will later in life should they choose to rewatch them, making the films even more special to them and their memories of childhood. So it won’t be eventually forgotten as silly old trash like, say, Minions will eventually.
