I can’t decide what I like more about the IMDb forums: all the “this needs a remake” threads about movies made prior to the 21st century; all the “worst movie ever made” threads about movies which aren’t even half-bad; or all the nasty posts attacking the weight/looks of certain actresses.

Special effects are a non-issue. If the story, characters, etc. all work, special effects are just bonus. When nothing else works, then one notices the poor effects, because there’s nothing else good in it to distract from it.

The only Trek film I’ve liked is TWOK. I haven’t seen all of the films though.
Anyways, I’ve never met anybody who only likes the original Trek. Am I all alone?
My father grew up on TOS during it’s first run, and never watched any other Trek after until I showed him II, III, and Beyond all this year. Fun fact: He very nearly cried at the picture-cameo in Beyond.
I planned on getting opening night tickets, or at least opening day, but I only just found out that I have final exams on the 16th which I, of course, can’t miss and shouldn’t be out past midnight before. *sigh*

For the last two years, finals were on Wednesday and Thursday, so last year I got to see TFA Thursday night. I assumed it would be the same this year, but then I checked the schedule today and now they’re on Friday and the following Monday.
Anyway, it’s a bummer, but at least it’s only another day to wait.
