Only if you listen to it on a Victrola.

Pssh, why listen to fake recorded music when you have the real deal? (I don’t have an actual harpsichord and I probably wouldn’t have the patience to learn it anyway.

Fake?

Because recorded music is clearly a fake version of listening to the music in person. (I’m hoping it’s clear that I’m pretending to be snobbish)

Pretending? 😉

I’m sure Burton thought he was being clever casting Keaton but Batman is a tall intimidating character. Keaton is an average build comic actor who at no point feels like Batman.
He is okay as Bruce but that suit only underlined how inappropriate he is in the role with it’s thick unmoveable rubber neck and the stupid biker gloves. The script is awful too.

True, it was bad that the suit had no neck movement. Atleast Burton’s Batman suits didn’t have “Bat Nipples”.
Maybe it’s the nostalgia, but I liked Keaton as Batman. If Keaton’s not your cup of tea, then to each his own.

Do you like Adam West’s version of Batman?

Yes because he is a pretty accurate representation of the character at that time in the comics. I wish someone would do a version of Superman where the title character is a complete dick to Jimmy Olsen and drives him to do some pretty bizarre things. It would be more fun than the current movies.

Well, to be fair to the current movies, he did let Jimmy get shot in the head. Pretty dick-ish thing to do if you ask me. 😛

A Rey parentage reveal is needed at some point, after what was set up.

As I said for “last Jedi living in nowhere”, just because it was thrust upon by TFA it does not mean it is not a rehash.

And what if the reveal is a character we never met before? Still a rehash?

Honestly, unless she ends up the kid of the main villain who supposedly killed her dad, I don’t see how the reveal would be a rehash.

DominicCobb said:

I see TFA and the ST as less a direct sequel and more a continuation further down the line with a new generation.

Well regardless of how you see it, the truth is that TFA is more of a soft remake than sequel.

I think soft reboot is a bit closer to the truth.

I say it was a hard resuscitation.

EDIT:

@flametitan

I don’t think there would be any family functions because Ben is going to prison if he turns back to the light. Just because he’s of the Skywalker bloodline doesn’t mean he can get away with multiple counts of murder and being part of a regime who destroyed an entire System. And that’s just what he’s done thus far. Imagine what that fucker is going to do next.

 1. Star Wars is sci-fi

No.

So Rey and Kylo’s enteries in the Star Wars database was recently updated to include the fact that a bond had formed between the two. This partially explains why she was able to get into his head.

This is one of the most exciting aspects of episode 8 to come.

I just hope this doesn’t mean Reylo is a thing…

+1000

Rey falling in love with a man who

• kidnapped her
• mentally abused her (literally, he used the force to abuse her mind)
• tried to kill her
• killed her only father figure

would be absurd and probably break the trilogy for me.

they’re objectively poorly executed

What is the objective measure and what are the units?

Since you possess truth there’s no need for me to tell you.

The truth is that there is no objective measure when it comes to art (which is what film is).

So says High Supreme God Emperor of the Truth™

Anyone is allowed to like the prequels, doing so is just expressing one’s personal opinion. However, I firmly believe that anyone who doesn’t think they’re objectively poorly executed is either not paying attention or lying to themselves. That makes them bad.

Or a dumb edgelord who likes it when movies to look like cutscenes from a game on the Sega Dreamcast.

I’m praying for no prequel references. That’s all. I honestly don’t care about anything else.

I think I’m going to judge the film on how good it is, rather than if there’s a random comment about Geonosis.

This. TFA had no PT references and it sucked. On the other hand, R1 had PT references and it was good.

After Finn’s defection, one of the New Order guys was touting how clone troops would be better.

There are a few minor references which are negligible compared to references in R1.

I count two in each film, and at least half of those barely count as references.

TFA:
• “…balance in the force”
• “…clone army”

R1
• Castle Vader happens to probably be on Mustafar
• Bail Organa exists

Both movies’ PT references are very minor.

Bail existed in the OT, he was just never named on screen. (I knew his name as a kid thanks to the novelization and the Marvel comic.) The important fact is Jimmy Smits reprised the role.

He was in the Marvel comic? I don’t recall reading his name, and I read the adaptation (and subsequent 20 or so issues after) not too long ago.

It was confirmed to be.

Saw Gerrera isn’t from the prequels, but he’s a prequel-era character.

I’ll give you that one.

The flashback scene with Coruscant.

I mean, I guess it’s a PT reference, but Coruscant existed in pre-PT EU, did it not?

The actress for Mon Mothma.

Calling that a reference is a stretch, especially since she was cut from the final movie IIRC.

Turbo Tank.

Okay.

If you need to B*tch about something other than originaltrilogy.com... This is the place
Time

Maybe I should stop using Netflix for anything other than sitcoms and other things I don’t care enough about to watch in >DVD quality. I want to scream and just buy the Blu-Ray set of Star Trek TNG even though I shouldn’t spend all that money right now. I’m stuck at 384p right now and I’ve peaked at just 480 before dipping back down.
