Release trailer.
Trailer looks great! Looking forward to the release.
Was this ever fully (or even partially) scanned? I’d love to check it out if it was.
You could always do some kind of VAR version with the extended parts in the BD AR.

I’m not a huge fan of HDR. I completely believe it’s the modern equivalent of colorizing a black and white film.
You are extracting light levels and colors from a film print (or in this case a computer) that the original creators had no expectations people would see.
I don’t understand why more purists aren’t against it since it isn’t the intent of the filmmakers.
I think a big problem with HDR, and a lot of reason people don’t like is less poor mastering (though there’s plenty examples of this and it certainly doesn’t help) but rather many people’s equipment. It’s meant to be viewed in a dark room, and it’s not like SDR where you can just turn up the backlight to accommodate a brighter room. Add to that most people don’t have high end displays that can get bright enough and/or have poor tonemapping, and most definitely not calibrated to reference levels, it can make HDR look very bad compared to SDR.
Dolby Vision tries to fix some of this, and does to some extent, but overall you’re not going to have a super great experience if your display isn’t up to the task
yo could i get a link to these? thx.
Also I was wondering what Laserdiscs did the mono audios come from?
I read a website that detailed what audio was best on what laserdisc release
I would assume the Criterion discs
They were shot on film, but transferred to video for VHS and DVD. A lot of the stock footage sources however, were originally on video.
Did the blu-ray of the first film go back to the film elements? You could probably get better results for the filmed segments color correcting and overlaying it on top of the upscaled DVD.
I for one am looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Been awhile since I’ve seen any of these, but weren’t they all shot on video? An upscaled version is probably the best we’ll ever get.
sex lettering removed
I know this drum’s been beat a thousand times, but it says SFX not sex.
Most releases of Iron Man, with the sole exception of the IMAX Enhanced version on Disney+, replace a photo of Iron Man on the front page of The Chronicle at the end because of a rather complicated lawsuit filed by a leaker over that photo.
I never knew about this. Kind of a crazy story, it’s weird that it’s on the new D+ version.
Are you doing any kind of HDR grade as well?
Though still in cinemas, Spider-Man: No Way Home has received some vfx updates.

Seems like minor changes. Weird they felt it was important enough to go through the effort of doing so.
I almost wonder if it’s just a way to convince people to go see it again and pump up the box office numbers.
There’s no reason not to include the DVD audio as an option.
Also the 2002 theatrical release looks like it had a DTS track. Would also be a great option if anyone has it.
Is it on the LD release? That has a digital track with what I assume is the original mono, would be a better source for the audio if anyone has it.
Most likely it’s a dup of the official VHS. But it might be worth trying it out and comparing it to the VHS release just in case it’s something different.
I’ve started watching Friends for the first time this year on HBOMax. This is the first I’ve heard there is a cut/uncut version.
Since it’s HD, I’m assuming HMax is edited(?)
Not edited, they’re just the original TV versions. On the DVDs there were extended cuts with an extra minute or two for each episode. The BDs/streams use the TV versions.
Out of curiosity, what do people who work in the industry think of the fan restoration scene? Are they even aware of it?
I would think if more pros were aware of many of the reasons people do their own restorations, such as heavy NR, poor audio remixes, etc., it would increase the overall quality of a lot of official releases.
Anyways, welcome to the forum!
I was able to secure a fan edit of the extended cut, but the one I have only has stereo audio. Is there a version out there that preserves the 5.1 track or is this the only one?
Cool! I thought this would be something gone forever. Glad there actually is a way to decrypt these.
Kinda wish I didn’t delete the files now.
The LD audio has already been ripped and synced. You can find it over at fanres
Unless you’re good enough at editing you can re-write the entire script and recast every character I don’t think there’s much hope at saving this one.
A Clockwork Orange is getting a 4k blu-ray, with the only english track being a new Atmos mix.
Reminder that the score was originally recorded in stereo but Kubrick had it re-recorded in mono because that’s how he wanted the film to be presented.
Have you tried AsfBin?
https://www.videohelp.com/software/AsfBin
I doubt it would work. The files aren’t corrupted, they’re encrypted.
Apologies for the necropost; has there been any updates to crack this Easter Egg?
Nope. The auth server that stored the decryption keys is down, so there’s not really any way to crack it. Unless someone cracked it while the server was up and archived it, this version is pretty much lost. Though from what I’ve heard from people it’s pretty much the same master used on early blu-rays so not much of value is lost here.
Not to be a downer, but those are likely getting pressed very shortly so your window to get them the audio is probably a very very short one.
I’m not working for Shout or trying to get these on the disc. I plan on syncing it to the release once it’s out and releasing the synced audio here.
