Scooby-Doo! and the Witch’s Ghost has an HD web-dl, but I’m not a huge fan of how it looks.

Comparison

For the most part the DVD is progressive, but there was a small handful of frames that showed interlacing artifacts. I did my best to clean these up. I also applied a very fine layer of grain to give it a more natural look.

Chapter titles and subtitles taken from the DVD as well.

The credits indicate it was originally mixed in Dolby Stereo, and the only good source of that mix would be the VHS release. I don’t have a way to rip VHS so if anyone does and can provide me the audio I’d greatly appreciate it.

What source(s) were used for the theatrical footage?

I recall the french BD being some sort of hybrid between the CDS and the newer 5.1
Someone on one of these forums did a close comparison of them, but I can’t seem to find it now.

I’m currently working on a restoration of a German film that has never had any home media release. I’d like to include an English subtitle track, but this has proved difficult since I don’t speak a word of German. I’ve tried some auto-translate options but the quality isn’t good, and it’s pretty much impossible for me to clean it up without understanding original context.

My advice would be to look into setting up a Plex media server. It’s free software that lets you stream your video and audio files to your devices and supports multiple audio tracks and subtitles. If your television supports native apps you might be able to stream directly to your television. If not I’d recommend something like an inexpensive Amazon firestick that you can load the plex app onto.

I’d recommend Jellyfin over Plex as JF is FLOSS and Plex is proprietary

There was never any release prints for them. Best we could do is get a hold of a broadcast tape, and even then the quality would probably be on par with the DVDs.

For Aladdin the best sounding audio is from the 35mm scan. You can find a version of that synced to the UHD. For TLM, probably one of the LDs.

Kind of a long shot, but did you try and message the uploader if they still have the full movie?

I always thought the bootleg BD was just the v2 someone put on a disc and tried to make money off of. Is it really a separate restoration?

The uncensored audio has been ripped from the DTS discs and synced up to the UHD.

I’m slightly confused as to the difference between the included “PCM Laserdisc Audio” track and the separate “JP LD mix” wav.

The included PCM LD Audio is the US THX LD. The JP LD is a slightly better sounding Japanese disc.

You shouldn’t blindly take a single review as a definitive take on quality, esspecially when they don’t supplement it with any visual comparisons. Also the only mention of the Naked Gun movies is this:

It’s honestly a shame the movies don’t look quite this good on Blu-ray.

If it’s just stretched then you could just compress it back to 4:3, that’d most likely be nicer then an upscaled LD.

Looks great! Looking forward to having a definitive version of the Extended trilogy.
