It’s got a whole new grade. Deakins supervised it and it looks good (and I think suites the photography better), but it has less of an aggressive sepia tone on the landscape, which is what O Brother was known for, being one of the first films graded entirely with a DI. It’s definitively worth preserving the DVD’s colors.

Interesting, seems like the NA release has hardsubs but other reigons do not.

I read in a forum that the USA BD’s have hardcoded Elvish subs but the European BD’s don’t.

Curious, if V1 is a slightly lower bitrate and not much difference in any other way from V3 why is V3 almost twice the size?

If you found the DCP on Spleen then there is also HD versions of parts 2 & 3 that were recently uploaded. They are not as good as the DCP… but much better than the official Blurays.

I’m surprised I’ve only seen potplayer mentioned a few times on this site. It’s considered as one of the best media players and plays everything fine for me.

Do you think it’s possible you could reencode your edit again but this time at 23.976 frames per second instead of 30 fps? Sometimes I like to burn AVCHD discs but it has to be 23.976 to be compatible. Just a thought.
