What's in a name?

when I started this project I felt like I was smart by including something to do with the wayland name in the subtitle.

it has come to my attention that another edit with a similar name is finished/nearing finished. So I'd like to change up the name, and possibly drop the Prometheus name alltogether.

should I call it PARADISE? LV_426? Any thoughts for this arbitrary aspect?

I had a dream, while making this that was basically:

Shaw dies when the ship falls from the sky, leaving vickers alive with David at the ending.

If this film had the balls to kill basically it's main character, I think the rushEd fourth act would have been more interesting, As well as a sequel.

However, without some radical cutting its hard to make this feel more like 2001.

maybe when the sequel comes out, a cumulative edit of both may achieve this.

speaking of which, I hope the sequel doesn't include shaw or this David, I'd like to see this universe grow, rather then continue to tie up loose ends that really didn't need tying up.

That's what I was hoping, Ridley wanted to turn the franchise he created in 79 into a 2012 action version of 2001:aso.

wayland's whole speech at the Ted talk says way more about human progress, then cutting from cave drawings to a spacecraft.

The best part about the two xenos, Was that once they awoken The engineer, He starts attacking them because he's been incubating a xeno inside of himself. Basically These primitive beings have awoken him to a death sentence, And his immediate aggression Has a bit more context.

At least R2 is in the background most of the time in the prequels (cough* jets in a droid factory*cough)

I rewatched episodes one and two recently and forgot how much they try to throw C3P0 in.

I'm personally content with having r2 through most of it, and leaving 3p0 for episode 3/having a new hope be their real introduction.

I agree about showing too much of the facehugger and the engineer, and somewhat fixing the pacing of the med pod scene. Those could benefit from some tightening.

after some time I've fallen out of love with cgi fifield. I wish I could just delete the whole scene, and only have the C-section as the action climax... It's never brought up again (as far as I know), and is only there to get some xeno-esque action somewhere in the film after lindelofs draft. 

Also, on that subject, has anyone read the script before he touched up on it? Or listened to the writer's commentary with both Lindelof and the other writer? He had some interesting ideas that made this feel more 'alien3' with two xenomorphs running around for the finalie, one of which being a 'hybrid' that bursts out of holloway during sex with shaw.

Yeah I've been getting complaints about technical issues, And I'm trying to fix all the hiccups before I release the final high definition version. I may have released it a bit too early but I really wanted to stick with my goals, for the most part haha.

I've been held up with other fan edits and personal work, And I won't leave this on the back burner for too much longer.

I've been trying to find a way to have "episode 1" use a heavily trimmed phantom menace, AND half of attack of the clones. Hopefully ending with anakin burying his mother.

I've thought about having the 10 year gap after young anakin meets Obi wan.

But, this means I lose a lot of plot threads involving everything after tattooine, the return to naboo, darth maul, the revelation that padme is the queen. 

Not that they're needed, the only thing I miss isn't even the darth maul duel, but the death of qui gon. I've thought about cutting back and forth between events of the phantom menace and attack of the clones, but have had little luck.

 Good job on them, they really do capture that retro/Flash Gordon look

maybe it was just that the "star wars" part was italic-ized as well. 

Anyway, keep up the awesome work.

I've been a lurker for some time, and have attempted fanediting on other films, but it's this trilogy that finally got me off my ass and start working on my own prequel trilogy.

Yeah, making it quigon wouldn't do much except raise the question of why he would go against the Jedi order, especially with the whole "we can't fight a war for you"

I was just watching the fall of the Jedi trilogy and noticed how easy it would've been to cover up the whole sifo-dias misstep or change it into someone else who died 10 years ago, and had ties to dooku.

i also remember someone posting a clip from the end of Attack of the clones a while back were they changed the sidious/dooku dialog to call him (dooku) vader. Sure, a nice twist for those who have seen these movies before, but raises the question "has palpatine run out of names?"

reguardless, there's infinite possibilities for these edits, and it's nice to see someone make ambitious changes for the better.

Anakin's lines could be about 30% Darth Vader or James Earl Jones in this one.

Little Anakin's ones in the ridiculous menace get me every time.

So... since you're getting around to Attack of the Clones as well...

What are your plans with the whole Sifo-Dyas thing?
I always thought you could redub/subtitle the leader of Kamino into explaining it was Qui-gon Jin, and try cutting.... around that...

sorry for the all caps, but I havent cheered like that since I was 9, and seeing this in theaters.

First off, I enjoyed Cloud Atlas, wouldnt even have thought of attempting this, if I wasnt a fan.

I’d take an ambitious failure over a film that plays it safe ANY day of the week.
(looking at you Prometheus)

So… after some simple research, I’ve found out how the novel of Cloud Atlas is structured.

Instead of vertical cutting that forcibly makes you draw conclusions between why Story A cuts to Story B, its presented in a fairly chronological order.

Every Story is told up to its climax, then moves on the the next one chronologically.
By the time we get to the last story, it finishes, then we get all of the climaxes of the rest in reverse chronological order, like a mirror:

1-2-3-4-5-6-5-4-3-2-1

Hopefully this gives the viewer characters we care about and see evolve throughout each of the stories, rather then every 5 minutes playing ‘Guess Who’ on screen.

This sounds ambitious, (though not NEARLY as ambitious as the theatrical cut was IMO), but im giving it a shot.

youd be amazed at what an opening crawl alone would fix.

also Im not a fan of some name changes, but I do understand that its the editor's choice.

when (s)he says its episode one, by any name, its still episode one.

How about putting the 'Erebor' prologue later, giving Throin a badass mystique until his backstory is revealed by Balin.

Or whichever dwarf was the oldest, names escape me right now. The VO does sound like Ian holm, but maybe there's a way. Also, am I the only font nazi who hated the subtitle font? Too large and rounded... Also unneeded whenever the orcs spoke. 

Maybe there will be a version clean of hard coded subs

i took it as a feeble attempt to built tension for the coming storm while David takes forever to put the canister in a bag.

ill see if I can take it out of the mix, but it's not a priority of mine.

Oh yeah! Upon reviewing my SD version, I plan on making a few more hidden tweaks for a HD 720p copy of it. 

Im hoping that'll be out CHRISTMAS DAY. But I can't guarantee it at the moment! 

Also about the aliens reference... Do you mean the line "our first alien.." From David?
