Star Wars: Combine, a MMORPG game
Time
Again, its been a long time since I signed up, so I'm not sure exactly how the process works.

I want to say signup confirmation takes from 24-48 hours. Sometimes it can take a little longer, and that just means you caught someone at a bad time. I'm pretty sure new members applications are reviewed one-by-one, by hand...err, eye.

If it take a really long time to get anything back (4+ days) you should probably visit the SWC Problems Board, and let someone know. There may be some extenuating circumstances preventing applications from going through.

ou should get either an accepted email, or a declined email. The declined one should explain why it was declined.

In respect to the actually playing of the game, everything is IC.
Players buy/sell/trade ships.
Players fly from planet to planet.
Players join factions.

But there is still a lot of OOC discussion that goes on, for many purposes.
People with and without characters help program the game.
People with and without characters help create art for the game.
People with and without characters help keep the website up to date.
People with and without characters help by researching the potential for new ships/vehicles/weapons/etc.

I wonder if it could be your browser. What are you using??

I know there has been some difficulty with cross-platform compatibility, but to what extent I do not know.

But, just in case, try this. I don't know if this will work for you, but this URL is the page that immediately follows those terms. It should let you fill out the form and submit it to join.

Join Page
Edit: I just tried the link and it doesn't work.
I'll post the trouble on our Bug forum, see what the deal is.

Not sure I understand what you mean by 'RP enforced'.

Ok, let me walk my way through this:

1. Go to www.swcombine.com
2. Click Join Link.
3. Look over Terms of Usage (or not).

Under the scrolling box with the Terms of Usage, is a disclaimer about Multi-Accounts, and that they are forbidden, except under certain circumstances.
Under that disclaimer about Multis, should be another area. In it are 2 radio buttons (for agree and disagree to the terms) and a 'proceed' button.

Hitting the button will take you to a form, for signing up.

No apology necessary.
As I said, it may have been me.

I'd like to address Motti first, then I reflect on my time in the game:
Motti_soL:
I cannot tell you what could be wrong right now. I joined a long time ago, and the signup process has changed quite a bit.
You should at least be getting an email back from the SWC saying why your request to join is being denied.
1. Are you trying to use a "free email" account (Hotmail, Yahoo, Excite, etc.) of any kind? There is a massive list of free account domains that is maintained by the SWC administration. An ISP account should let you in, and if not, you should let someone know (using the SWC Problem message board).
2. Do you have any kind of 'shared' access? If you, for example, are in a dormatory and would be signing up over the school network, the problem there is that the SWC tracks IP addresses. If someone else on campus is playing, and the IP address is close enough to your own, they may think its 1 person trying to sign up for a second account, which is against game rules.

Beyond that, I'm not sure I can help. There are other people at the SWC Problem board, though, that should be able to help you.

Now, some afterthoughts:
Actually, I'm finding it hard to put into words exactly what the Combine has done to my life. Its given me a creative outlet that I don't think I would have had otherwise. Its given me a chance to meet people from around the world. Its given me a chance to use the vast geek knowledge I've accumulated during my life of Star Wars fandom. Its given something to do with my free time (and being a geek, I have plenty of it).
I don't think I'd trade all that for anything.

I did want to give you some more stats about the game as well:
1. As RRS-1980 said, there are about 1200 members right now. We once had over 2200, but that was after some unique media coverage...we were shut down for about a week or 2 BY LUCAS.
2. RRS-1980 was actually quite far off on one thing: There are over 1000 known planets. A large number are unexplored and no one knows their location. Many have cities.
3. There are 74 races that your character can be a member of, including 5 human subgroups.
4. There are 97 different ships, from the massive and mighty SSD, to the small X-Wing. There are even a few non-canon ships.
5. 68 different groups (called Factions) to be a part of. Some are military, others provide a product or service, and 6 are considered governments.

Some see this next bit of information as a detriment. Not me. I call it opportunity.
The game isn't finished.
How is that good, an opportunity?? It means that if you can be active, you can contribute to the game, you can help to mold the way you and others, now and in the future, get to play.

It may have been me that posted that link, for I am:

Admiral Roy Starkiller
Leader of one of the oldest Factions in the Star Wars Combine, Renegade Inc.

I have been with the SWC for quite a long time, since July of 1999. If you look around, you should find traces of me everywhere. I've done so much work for the game over the years.

I think the following address has a better Top 100 list.
Top 100 Grossing Movies: Adjusted

This is how it should be. Star Wars is 2nd only to Gone with the Wind.

How can you ask that Jimbo?
(remembers...AOTC better than Casablanca...AOTC better than Return of the King...AOTC...)
Question withdrawn.

Spaceballs is a great movie. That was one of the first DVDs I ever bought. Mel Brooks is an absolute genius.
Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, The Producers, Silent Movie, History of the World Part 1 all are amazing(ly funny) movies.

Info: About Star Wars/Lucasfilm Fan Club stuff
Time

I had a quick question I wanted to ask everyone.

But first, a little background info.

I was a member of the original Star Wars/Lucasfilm Fan Club at the age of 4.
I still have my Banthatracks newsletters and most of the stuff I got through the club (of all the things to lose…my membership card). I even had an old order form (I’d love to try sending it in…see if I can get the old membership fee rate of $5.95 for a year )
Anyways, one of the things I got, for free, through them, was a motion card. A motion _post_card, really.
It contained 6-8 frames of footage from Return of the Jedi.
I’m curious to see if anyone else has one of these. I’ve never known someone that did, and I have to wonder how rare it might be.
Mine (and I don’t know if they were all the same) was from the lightsaber duel between Luke and Vader. Perhaps I can scan it.

Why doesn't Lucus just release both versions?

I, too, am missing some weapons from figures. But I do have three carded figs still and a few smaller vehicles and beasts. My mom donated the rest of my vehicles thinking that they had broken when we moved from Kentucky to Connecticut. I wanted to cry. I did, now that I think about it.

Ouch.
My parents never did THAT to me. Anything that got broke, got fixed. I don't think I even threw anything away.
(My battle-damage X-Wing, you know how you could lock the s-foils in attack position by pressing down on R2. Well, R2 has a screw in his head to reenforce the system, and one of the foils is glued back on.
Battle Damage indeed.)
One of these days I need to tabulate all the stuff I've got, and see if its worth anything.
The one thing that might be quite valuable, is my POTF edition Jabba's Dungeon.

I just had a question pop into my head, but I'll head over to the appropriate forum for it.

I would have been 3 when it came out. (Appears I am about the same age as Rebel Scumb)

My parents probably still took me to see it though (or then again, they might went and left me with a babysitter). Unfortunately, I do not remember it.

I was big on the toys though. KayBee toys was the closest toy store, and I was always getting the action figures 3 for $1 (really, the only way my parents would buy them for me).

I still have about 99% of my Star Wars stuff. The only things missing are some action figure weapons and other random parts (missing most of my Ewok glider, and 1 knob off the side of my Han Solo Blaster).

I don't believe this was deleted. I seem to remember the line "Ever since the XP-38 came out, they're just not in demand." in all the versions of the movies.

I would very much like to see this. I've loved the Wampa subplot since I first found out about it.
