I've heard it a few times. Used to listen to it more regularly, but the things they talk about would just freak me out sometimes.

You know...we're going to experience a polar reversal in the next 3 months. That means 300 MPH winds that are going to wipe just about everything off the world.

It used to be (and might still be) the number 1 late-night show on the air.

If they talk about the contruction of the pyramids/Sphinx, the Roswell crash or the USS Eldridge, I might listen, but otherwise not.

Without the electoral system, a candidate could pander only to the needs of a few large cities.

Look at the 2004 county-by-county map.
Kerry had only, what, 2-3 million less votes than Bush. All his votes were in New York, LA, Chicago, San Fran, and other large population centers. Without an electoral system, he could have focused almost exclusively on these cities, not giving a flying fig about anyone in Nebraska, Iowa, the Dakotas, etc.

Perfect example, Ohio.
Kerry could have made promise after promise to Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus. That is really all he'd need (ok, maybe Toledo as well). He could completely ignore the rest of the state.

The electoral college works to balance this out.

If I was a suspicious type, I'd say that you're only angry about the system because Kerry lost. Its the same thing the democrats did in 2000.

No, we just need to modify the traditions.

If Washington loses, the incumbent loses.
If Washington wins, the incumbent wins.
If Washington loses, but the Boston Red Sox win the series, its a cold day in hel...I mean, its anyone's ballgame.

The best part about it, according to trends, we won't have to worry about it until 2176.
(Assuming that Boston goes another 86 years before its next WS win. However, 2090 will not be an election year. After another 86 years, in 2176, that will be an election year.

Luckily, we won't be around to worry about it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time the same party controlled everything the way it does now, we had Carter--a democrat--in the white house.
And we all know how that turned out.

What? He won a nobel prize, is that what you mean?
How about double-digit inflation (from 6.8% in 1977 to 12.4% in 1980). The Iran hostage situation/botched rescue attempt (which ended the night of the Reagan's inauguration). High unemployment, despite Carter's attempts to fix it by simply creating government jobs.
Carter Administration, 1977-1981

He did far more good out of office than he did in office...but then that's like saying a pea is larger than a piece of corn.

Just remember, at the DNC, he shared his presidential box with Mr. Michael "Commie Capitalist" Moore.

Definitely won't happen.
The strength of the Clinton family makes it quite obvious that Hillary will run in 2008.

As for governor, by some that could be considered a demotion.
I know that here in Ohio, our gov used to be Voinovich. He choose not to take another term a few years ago, and instead he ran for Senator.

Not to say Kerry isn't an honorable man, but you have to take into account the fact that if he had pushed for recounts and legal action, it would have hurt his political career. Look at what has happened to Gore since 2000.

Besides, if he had conceded, then retracted, it would have been one more thing he would have flip-flopped on.

If anyone else wants proof that Kerry isn't good for America, look at this:
Quote

Stocks ended mixed Tuesday, with the Dow suddenly changing direction, despite oil prices holding near $50 a barrel, as chatter on the Internet speculated that early exit polls had Sen. John Kerry leading the presidential election in key swing states.

The mid-afternoon turnabout wiped out gains built on declining oil prices and investors' hopes for a conclusive presidential election.

The Dow Jones industrial average (search) slipped 18.66 points, or 0.19 percent, to close at 10,035.73, based on the latest data. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index (search) edged up just 0.07 of a point, or 0.01 percent, to finish at 1,130.58. And the technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index (search) added 4.92 points, or 0.25 percent, at 1,984.79.

Earlier, the Dow traded as high as 10,132.99, and the Nasdaq composite broke through the 2,000 mark for the first time in about four months. The Dow lost about 60 points in 18 minutes.

Remember when Saddan did that election and people voted with their own blood, and he got 99% of the votes? Well even then the election wasn't rigged and frauded as this one is.
Exqueese me?
That Iraqi election wasn't rigged??

Fear is a mighty motivator. Saddam held the life of every Iraqi in his hands through his Fedayeen(sp?) army.

Hypothetical:
You've got a gun to your head, Ric. Vote Saddam, or not? Don't give the wrong answer.

That part I don't believe I was aware of.

How exactly are you "killing" something when you take an apple off a tree?? The tree is still alive, and the apple is no more alive, by conventional definitions, whether you pluck it or it falls off on its own.

So, I guess if I tied off one of my own fingers, let it shrivel and fall off, I could then feed it to a vegan??

somehow I doubt Bush would do that either.
Why do you doubt Bush?
If we look at their acts, we may be able to see a greater picture.

Kerry:
As I stated, John and Teresa payed roughly 12.78% taxes on their income this past year.
$725,000 in taxes on roughly $6.8 million of combined income.
Now, Massachusetts has a provision in their tax code so that you can pay an additional .6% taxes if you so choose. You'd think that with as much as they make and how much Kerry wants the "richest 1%" to pay up, that they'd take advantage of it.
Nope. Kerry has never choosen to pay the additional taxes.

Let's bring up charity giving, that's a fairly good sign, right?
(Reported Income in parenthesis)

1991 ($113,857): $0
1992 ($127,646): $820
1993 ($130,345): $175
1994 ($127,884): $2,039
1995 ($126,179): $0
Post-Teresa Marriage:
1996 ($143,795): $14,325
1997 ($217,338): $21,795
2002 ($144,091): $18,600

Bush:
George and Laura payed roughly 28% taxes on their income.
They payed $227,490 in federal taxes while making $822,126.

Now, let's see Bush's charity:
1991 ($179,591): $28,236
1992 ($212.313): $31,914
1993 ($610,772): $31,292
1994 ($474,937): Unknown
1995 ($419,481): Unknown
1997 ($271,920): Unknown
1998 ($18,400,000): $334,425 (massive influx was the result of sale of 11% interest in Texas Rangers)

To sum up:
Kerry never really took the opportunity to pay out a lot of money, for taxes or charity, even after becoming set for life by playing "Who wants to marry a millionaire?"

Bush, on the other hand, has been quite charitable and, so far as I can tell, doesn't actively search out tax loopholes and tax shelters to protect his money.

It dosen't mean he is going to do a good job.
Kerry did not use this same wisdom. He tried to use Vietnam for more than "political advertisments." He tried to use his military service to show he would be a good leader/Commander-in-Chief. He stood before the Democratic Convention and said "I'm John Kerry and I'm reporting for duty."
He ended up being wrong, because the Swift Boat Vets came along and started to seed the minds of voters with doubt about his record.

Now, I know exactly what you're going to end up saying. Your going to say something like He doesn't have anything to do with his wife's company. Well, let me point out that Kerry and Teresae still have a stake (however large or small) in what Heinz does.

If Kerry REALLY does something to hurt companies that use outsourcing and that shift money outside the States for tax purposes, he's going to end up hurting his own bottomline.

Now, given the fact that he's loopholed his way to a 12.78% tax rate, its safe to say he loves his money. You think he's going to suggest legislation to cut his profits??
Not likely.

Do you believe in ghosts?
Time
I have never had any experiences personally that would lead me to believe, or disbelieve.

However, there was an incident in 2001 occuring during Cleveland Indians spring training that swayed many people to believe.

WTAM, flagship of the Cleveland Indians radio network, sends its radio shows, 1 at a time for a period of 1 week, to Winter Haven, Florida for Spring Training. Also sent is the station's Indians beat reporter.

In 2001, this beat reporter had been at a rented house in Florida for a couple days, nothing much was really going on at camp and he was mostly spending his time at this house playing on a PSOne. He started to notice strange electrical things going on. Light bulbs burning out almost immediately after being replaced. Lights coming on in the house that he didn't turn on, etc.

At 3 AM, he called and woke the station's program director. The stuff going on was getting worse, and had gotten to the point that it actually scared him out of the house.

Eventually, the beat reporter spoke with the afternoon drive talk show host about what was happening, and a psychic called in. She spoke about 2 ghosts being in the house and that one of them was in the same room with the reporter, while they were on the phone and that this ghost was by a brown paper bag. At first, the reporter was confused. He didn't see any brown bag, until he moved slightly, saw it, then remembered that he had put some empty soda cans in this bag earlier that day. The reporter then felt a slight wave of cold and got very freaked out, right on the air. Not screaming-into-the-phone freaked, but you could tell he was very worried.

Well, the reporter left the house and stayed in a hotel for a couple days until a new place to rent could be found. The psychic sent some...cannot think of the name now, scratch sticks?? Basically incense sticks that have a calming effect on ghosts. They put them around the house and things started to calm down.
But as soon as they could, they got everyone from the station out of that house.

Now, I might have normally suspected that this could have been a station stunt, until the beat reporter was asked to tell his story on Art Bell.

No one wants a fight.

The problem is that some people don't know where the time for diplomacy ends and the time for direct action begins.
Kerry, when talking about how he would handle the Iran situation during the debates talked about inposing sanctions, then offering some deals, then applying some pressure, then this, then that.

In the mean time Iran continues developing and building their weapons. What happens when they drop a nuclear warhead in the middle of Tel Aviv?

A reactive posture when dealing with terrorists resulted in 3000 deaths on 9/11. We must allow not ourselves to return to those times.

And when it comes to our "allies," several have stated that, regardless of who is in power after this election, they will not provide any support. Diplomacy will do nothing for these countries.
And, after what Kerry said about our current Iraq allies, about them "being the bribed and coersed", a Kerry win could result in lost credibility with these countries.

In the end, as a worst-case scenario, we fail to gain the allies Kerry wants and we lose the allies we have, placing us in a worse situation than we are in now.

Although, why on Earth you want France for anything is beyond me. We all know from past experiences that the only things they're good at is insulting Americans and waving white flags.

Well, the good news is that hopefully it will all be over in 36-48 hours.

But until then...
I found what Osama said in his latest tape very interesting, plus the fact that the media appears to be burying it (try to find the complete translated transcript).

Osama said that if Bush was elected, there would be "war" and that if Kerry were elected there was the possibility of a truce.
He then said that states that ended up in the Bush column would be attacked and that Kerry states could be safe.

That tells me that Osama sees Bush doing a better job to win the war on terror. Osama will feel safer with Kerry in office.
