Radio Shack, yes.

If you have an old set of computer speakers anywhere, they might have used that dual-end cord.
(1 Speaker plugs into the computer, then the second speaker plugs into the first).

My dad had a boatload of them where he worked (speakers getting thrown away), and he brought a couple home for me to use. One is on my computer, the other I use for the Aux In on my car stereo (I can plug my PDA in).

Punshments are as follows:

For the Pacers
Ron Artest: rest of season plus playoffs (73+ games)
Stephen Jackson: 30 games
Jermaine O'Neal: 25 games
Anthony Johnson: 5 games
Reggie Miller: 1 game (to be served after coming off the injured list)

For the Pistons
Ben Wallace: 6 games
Chauncey Billups: 1 game
Elden Campbell: 1 game
Derrick Coleman: 1 game

Quote

All of the suspensions are without pay. Artest will lose approximately $5 million in salary, while O'Neal's suspension will cost him nearly 25 percent of his $14.8 million salary for the current season.

From ESPN Article

I believe all the punishments are fair, given what I've seen. The fans involved also need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

In the mid-80s, 2 made-for-TV movies were put together. I want to say they were made in conjunction with CBS, but don't hold me to that.

The first movie deals with the crash of a ship on Endor, with a family of 4. The father and mother are taken prisoner by a creature known as a Gorax. The Ewoks find the 2 children (brother and sister) and help them find the Gorax's lair and recover the parents.

The second movie takes place shortly after the first. The family is putting the finishing touches on the repairs to their ship when they and the ewoks are attacked by a band of Marauders. The entire family except the girl is killed, and she and many Ewoks are captured, along with the power cell from the families ship, which the leader of the Marauders thinks can make him very powerful. Wicket and the girl escape and run across a human hermit, stranded on the planet for many years. He has a ship, but its power systems were damaged during his crash.
They eventually make a plan to attack the Marauders, get the power cell, and use it to get his ship working again. In the end, he leaves, taking the little girl with him.

I'd have to check, but I think that is broadcast here in the US as MXC (Most Extreme Elimination Challenge) on SpikeTV.

Spike gets the show, then gives outrageous translations to the Japanese and replaces the ending with "Kenny Blankenship's Most Painful Eliminations of the Day".

As I recall, the Gilbert-burger had no pickles. I never had the chance to get one, but I did hear about them.

For those of you that don't know of Gilbert:
Gilbert Brown was the anchor of the Packer defensive line for many years during the mid and late-90s. His weight was the topic of many discussions. His printed weight was in the 370lbs range, but everyone knew he had to be tipping the scales at 400 or more.
Last year was his last year in football (pending). He sustained a ruptured bicep during preseason, and everyone thought that was the end of his year. Surprising everyone, he ended up playing about half the season, before his weight made him too tired to play and his knees began to give out.

I think I got all that right.

Green Bay does not hold exclusive rights to NFL burgers. In the early 90s, shortly after we moved to Cleveland, McDonalds began running an NFL promo burger of its own.
The MDP, named for Michael Dean Perry, the Browns star Defensive Tackle during the time.
I don't recall the specifics of the burger, only that MDP would be in the commercials, stating that during the season he would eat 92 of these burgers (92 was his number).

Cleveland has also seen the Thome Triple, from Burger King. It was 3 beef patties with Mayo on a hoogie bun. It was named for Jim Thome, our all-star 1st baseman before he ran for the money in Philly.

2 1/3 lbs Angus beef patties
4 strips of bacon
3 slices of cheese
mayonnaise
all on a buttered, sesame-seed bun

Cost: $5.49, sandwich only. $7.09 for sandwich, fries and soda

If you guys don't hear from me for a while after Christmas, its likely that I had one of these and the result was a heart attack.
(There are no Hardees nearby in Cleveland. But when I return to WI to visit relatives, there are several Hardees in the area to me to visit.)

Anime talk
Time
I do not actively seek out anime, but if I see something interesting on, I'll watch it. Mostly what I've seen is the stuff Cartoon Network plays/played.

I have a question myself, for any of you that have seen a lot of anime.

I have strange memories from a very early age of a couple ?anime? movies/shows I saw. I'd like to describe what I remember, and see if you have any idea whatsoever I might be talking about.

1. Sometime during the early 90s, 90-92 I'd have to say, newly formed Sci-Fi Channel advertised and showed 3 anime movies. One movie I couldn't care less about. Another was Vampire Hunter D. The last I remember, but can put no name with.
All I can remember, is some kind of furry character (like a wookie, but with shorter fur) repeatedly saying "If we get out of this, I'll give up ______." and he'd list drugs or women or alcohol, or something like that. He also says something to the effect of "I better stop getting myself into these situations, or else I'll have nothing fun in my life."
I think I also remember something to the effect that this character was a smuggler/gunrunner.

2. Far earlier than the above, I have memories of something far more strange. A race of very large...umm...I guess the best way to describe them is pillbugs. They are under attack by humans. At some point in the film, a young child is on a shore or something with one of these creatures (a young one). Both are wounded, and the water is salty or acidic or something, anyways, the bug wants to go in the water, and the child is pushing against it to keep it from going. The kid isn't having much luck, and gets slowly pushed into the water, with the water going into the wounds.
At some point later in the movie, this kid is dead/severely wounded, I'm guessing from the wounds and the water. A large number of these 'pillbugs' are sorrounding the body. Slowly, one-by-one, these glowing things (Antenna...probes, I don't know how to describe them) come out of the bugs and start to pick up the body. The probes start to inspect the wounds on the body. As it turns out, the bugs are healing the kid.

I also have a random memory of one of these bugs suspended by hooks (digging into its shell/flesh) being taken somewhere. Could be the same bug that I mentioned above (that tried to go into the water).

You mean the complete Flying Circus collection?
We've had that for a while.

Great set. Might be worth robbing a bank.

Welcome to the fringe of society, where ANYTHING is possible.

Ever watch CSI? I catch it once in a while on SpikeTV (cable). There was this one episode where the CSI team has to investigate the murder of a man that was found in a blue bear costume (or something like that).
He was attending a convention where everyone was wearing similar costumes. They are "unloved" in their human "forms", so they take the personae of a cute little animal.

I like to consider myself as being open-minded, but that episode was seriously screwed up.
...
I found info about the episode:
Quote

74. Fur and Loathing
gs: Willie Garson (Bud Simmons/Sexy Kitty) Patrick Fischler () Wallace Langham (David Hodges) Brad Henke (George Bartell) Geoffrey Rivas (Det. Sam Vega) Paul Francis (Rich) Todd Robert Anderson () Steven Barr () David Berman (David Phillips) Kim Robillard () Chad Einbinder ()

The team is introduced to the "Furry" side of Vegas when a man is found dead on the side of the road, dressed in a racoon suit. Elsewhere in Vegas, a gunshot victim is found in a deep-freezer, frozen solid.

b: 30-Oct-2003 pc: 406 w: Jerry Stahl d: Richard J. Lewis

NOTE: Title resembles the 1998 movie "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", starring Jonny Depp, Benicio Del Toro, Christina Ricci, & Tobey Maguire.
There will be no notes about the reality of the furry community.

Rumors:
Paramount will be releasing Star Trek: First Contact SE in February of 05, along with Hogan's Heroes season 1. Saw it at dvd.ign.com.
Love Hogan's Heroes and ST:FC is the best of the TNG cast Star Trek movies, so this is will be a good day for me.

Any of you guys planning on buying the 3 new SW DVDs (Ewoks, Droids, Ewoks Live)?

Lethe,
Did you catch the sousaphones in the marching band during one of the timeouts?? That was superb.

(For those of you that didn't see, there was the right number of sousaphones players to spell out "Where you at Moss?" with special fabric covering the bells of their tubas.)
