- Philidelphia was foolish in signing Thome like they did. Indians had concerns about his back and his age, and you see what happened? Congratulations, you just blew a LOT of money.
- The Yankees would be nothing more than a 500 team if Steinbrenner didn't have yearly payrolls off $200+ million. The Indians almost beat them or the Red Sox out of the playoffs with a payroll of $45 million.

The Indians will go far next year. This was a wonderful learning experience for all the young players.
The only area of question comes from whether we can keep our bullpen intact. Bob Howry, Scott Sauerbeck and Bob Wickman are all free agents. If Kevin Millwood leaves, he can probably be replaced.

NES games that you haven't beat
Time
I didn't have an original NES until 1998. I had it for about a year before I bought the Pod Racer edition N64. During that time I didn't beat ANY of the games I got with it except for Tecmo Super Bowl...the best football game on that system. Took the Packers to the Super Bowl twice with perfect records.

Anyways, I have a number of coughromscough on the PC, and I've beaten most of them. All 6 Mega Mans. 3 Marios. Kirby's Adventure. Chip and Dales Rescue Rangers.
I've only beat them, though, because I had the ability to save-state with them.

I haven't beat Ninja Gaiden, but then for some reason I'm not to fond of the game.

"Living Legend"
Any resemblance between this show and the 25 year old show is purely coincidental.
The only similarity between Living Legend and this is the very basic theme that Galactica runs into the Pegasus and its commanded by someone named Kane.
The rest is too different.

1. I believe Kane had a different title in the original series (he was just referred to as Commander...and it was spelled Cain).
2. Lloyd Bridges...Michelle Forbes
3. Kane seemed to be subordinate to Adama in the original. Flipped in the new.
4. Kane was not brutal in original. The worst he did was to destroy Cylon fuel tankers to force the Galactica into using his plan of attacking two Base Stars, but in the end he turned out to be in the right, destroying both.

Don Adams will be missed by this much.

How about this much?

He fought for goodness and niceness against badness and evil.
And loving it.

Scratch that, everything after The Undiscovered Country was not fit for human consumption. srsly.

The Wrath of Khan is still the best.
I must disagree with comment 2.
First Contact is my second favorite of the films.

Let me rank them the way I like them:
2-8-4-3-6-7-5-1-10-9
(Or...Khan, First Contact, Voyage Home, Search for Spock, Undiscovered Country, Generations, Final Frontier, Motion Picture, Nemesis, Insurrection)

I put ST3 before most of the others ONLY because it continues the story arc from ST2 to ST4.

Anyone else see a similarity to The Season 5 finale/Season 6 opener of Star Trek Voyager??

Its the episodes where Voyager discovers the Equinox.

^ similarities? maybe...

one of them was basically a reset button episode that played it safe and whose end result was never mentioned again - a bit like the entire series that abandoned it's own premise in it's first season. The other was a piece of superbly executed tv amongst many quality and engaging episodes of a series that not only makes for entertaining tv, but challenges and questions the viewer with it's content and continually shows many aspects of the difficulties encountered within it's story premise.

Forgot to say that the BSG ep is a re-take on a 25yr old series-BSG episode.
Ok, maybe the word 'similarities' was too strong. I see an underlying theme to both.
Voyager:
Voyager discovers the first real human contact they've had since they were taken across the galaxy, in the Equinox. They later learn that certain aspects of the Federation doctrine have been completely disregarded as the Equinox crew does anything to get back (they found a lifeform who's dead carcass could be converted into a crystal that gave them a massive speed boost). After learning the full truth, Voyager attacks. Certain members of the Voyager crew are on board the Equinox when it flees, hoping to escape court-martial.

BSG:
Galactica discovers the first real human contact they've had since their civilization is destroyed, in the Pegasus. They later learn that the Pegasus crew has become brutal in its attempts to gather intelligence and attack the Cylons. Several members of the Galactica crew/ civilian population have been transferred to the the Pegasus when, being pushed too far, Galactica attacks.

What is your favourite reference to Star Wars films in other shows (TV and Film)?
Time
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet:

From Stargate SG-1:

Jack O'Neill: We brought pizza and a movie.
Teal'c: Star Wars.
Jack O'Neill: He's seen it, what? Eight times?
Teal'c: Nine.
Jack O'Neill: Nine times. If Teal'c likes it, it's gotta be okay.
Sam Carter: You've never seen Star Wars?
Jack O'Neill: Well, you know me and sci-fi...

Are we sure its the SEASON finale?? Stargate and Atlantis are also having finales, but they aren't SEASON finales, they are summer finales. SG1 and SGA should be back within a month or 2...isn't BSG doing the same?

In the original BSG, Adama wasn't exactly military. he was a higher up in the civilian government. When he came across Cain, he was practically a superior.
In the new, Adama is military all the way through, and Cain (BTW...female) is now the superior officer.

Yeah. Fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation will recognize her as Michelle Forbes, aka: Ensign Ro. I like her in that role. Interesting.
I didn't recognize her in the commercials, but I saw that when I visited the BSG website at scifi.com.

Top Ten Reasons Why Star Wars Characters Would Kick Butt in the Star Trek Universe
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
10) In the Star Wars universe, weapons rarely, if ever, are set on "stun".

9) The Enterprise needs a huge engine room with an anti-matter unit and a crew of twenty just to go into warp-- the Millennium Falcon does the same thing with R2-D2 and a Wookie.

8) After resisting the Imperial torture droid and Darth Vader, Princess Leia still looked fresh and desirable-- after pithy Cardassian starvation torture, Picard looked like hell.

7) Jabba the Hutt would eat Harry Mudd for trying to cut in on his action.

6) Luke Skywalker is not obsessed with sleeping with every alien he encounters.

5) One word: lightsabers.

4) The Federation would have to attempt to liberate any ship named Slave I.

3) Darth Vader could choke the entire Borg empire with one glance.

2) Picard pilots the Enterprise through an asteroid belt at one-quarter impulse power. Han Solo floors it.

1) The Death Star doesn't care if a world is class "M" or not.

Or, imagine this, a Mario Party game in which you have to pass the controller in hands very fast - like a bomb - and if it "exploded" in your hands you lost (since it has an in-built rumble pack, that would be cool). Imagine the possibilities... I mean, of course it must have a regular controller with it, but the "remote" thing is pretty neat.
