Prim, thanks for the help!

Despite the fact that my phrases was grammatically correct (right?), I must admit yours are better; so, I decided to make the corrections you suggested; you could find the newest version of the cover into the first post.

I like more detailed a/v specs - just wait for "The Matrix" custom cover... (^^,)

Commentary tracks: don't know, but for sure the 35th BD and laserdisc ones definitely NOT the same.

SOUNDTRACKS DOWNLOAD LINKS

As there is some interest in the laserdisc main soundtrack, and isolated score & effects track, I added them to the first post - hope this will be appreciated; if someone is interested in the LD commentary too, just ask.

Looked at the cover, here are my thoughts.

There are some small grammar error here and there in the description on the left side,

Can you please point me to the exact errors? English is not my native language... I fixed it a bit by myself, you could find it as linked biggest cover.

and some areas, like the Video/Audio specs seem a little "overfilled" to me. The lines could be shorter, if it's worded differently. As an example - instead of having "AVC encoded 30mbps" it could have "AVC 30mbps". This is more a preference thing I guess, as some may like it more detailed.

I like "stuffed" descriptions... (^^,) infact, many times the description found on DVD or BD are not "descriptive" enough, so...

Other than that, I really like the comparison shots, and the informative description. The front cover is as classic as they come, I would be surprised if any other artwork was used there. I think you did good. :)

Thanks! I retained the front cover artwork, as I think THIS is the cover to use; but it's a slightly different version in comparison to previous DVD and BD covers.

I wish I could also find free BD authoring w/ menus that actually work on my pc. I tried AVCHD, but it always crashes, or never finishes the job. TSMuxer and EasyBD work a treat (most often I use EasyBD, depending on the files I have).

AVCHD=MultiAVCHD, right? So, I'm not the only one who has problems to use this...

This is on the queue right now. I am looking forward to watching this movie with the autumnal colors and the original mono track.

I hope you will be happy with it!

The music and effects track will also be a nifty feature.

Don't forget the laserdisc commentary, that is different from the BD one - although I'm not sure if it was present previously into another DVD/BD release, it's nice to have two different commentary tracks.

Oh, did I mention 7,8 and 9 have a synced dts track.:) The movie is at 25fps so it will need to be slowed and or re-encoded. Some might have commentaries also.

As they were shown theatrically with both DTS and Dolby Digital soundtrack, I think the laserdisc DD tracks will be a very welcome addition!

No problems to slow down DTS from 25 to 23.976 - I could do it, but there are many others with more experience than me that will be happy to do themselves. And commentaries are welcome!

Personally, I'll add the Leonard Nimoy intro to ep. 4, and italian PCM laserdisc soundtracks for ep. 1 2 7 8 - plus italian AC3 from DVD for the others, or, if I will be lucky, try to track down the VHS and capture their Hi-Fi Stereo soundtrack - in the "vintage" restoration spirit... (^^,)

Plus, *maybe*, the extended edition of ep. 6... I wrote *maybe*...

Disney's Beauty and the Beast [spoRv] BD-25 (Released)
Time

This is only a particular I noted during the sync... I cannot think about what other things they changed in this, and in all other films... it's creeping... well, it's true that we can live with an added tree, but the fact is that we want the movie AS IT WAS! Isn't true? It's a matter of principle!

For BATB, they changed colors, mixed cropping, repainted things, remixed soundtracks... there will be an end to all of this? I think our child DESERVE the right to watch ALL the Disney films as they were originally - and we too!

Disney's Beauty and the Beast [spoRv] BD-25 (Released)
Time

I'm back to work with BATB; sync'ing the BD and the final video, I noted that sometimes the BD has more image than laserdisc on the sides, while other times the BD has the image cropped top and bottom... see for example the next two frames, that are one after the other:

according to IMDB:

Aspect Ratio

1.66 : 1 (negative ratio)
1.50 : 1 (IMAX version)
1.85 : 1 (intended ratio)

so, it's odd that the BD uses both 1.85:1 and cropped 1.66:1, while the laserdisc uses only the 1.66:1 not cropped... maybe an expert could write he something more about this.

The DTS 2.0 german soundtrack has some problems at the beginning; so I used the PCM mono german DVD track to replace the problematic part; however, the original theatrical soundtrack was mono, so the DTS 2.0 was obviously a remix... as I wanted all soundtracks to be as close as possible to the original version, I converted it to mono too; also, french, spanish and italian soundtracks were of lower quality in comparsion, so I preferred to lower the quality of the german one to be on par with the others - including commentaries... I left only the english soundtrack and isolated score from the laserdisc in PCM, as they are the best in quality.

This is my personal choice; however, if someone would like to obtain the german DTS 2.0 soundtrack to mux it with the final project, post your request here. Or, everyone is free to mux another multichannel soundtrack, but IMHO the original gritty and harsh soundtrack is the best option! (^^,)

Probably I found the problem... I tested both .srt and converted .sup subtitles with TSmuxeR, and even there many of them lasts less than a second; so the problem doesn't lie into the .sup converted files, but in the original .srt.

I checked the "guilty" subtitles, and discovered they are spaced at 35ms from the others; I guess I should increase the "distance" of them, maybe at 50ms or even more... I'll test further, and almost surely I'll release it tomorrow...

HELP NEEDED!

Before this project, I used TSmuxeR to mux audio/video/subtitles.

Now, after Chewtobacca pointed me to EasyBD Lite, I decided to use this, as it should be 100% compliant while TSmuxeR could be not.

The only problem is that EBD Lite doesn't accept .srt subtitles... I converted them with EasySUP and GoSUP, but often the subtitles appears for less than a second, and they are unreadable... the .srt files have all the right timing, so it's not their problems...

Now, I need a subtitle program that could convert .srt to .sup; any help will be appreciated!

If I will find no suitable program, or the problem will arise again with the new one, I'll mux the program with the newest version of TSmuxeR - as until now, it worked well even with the old version.

Thanks to everyone!

LDnoise : A Laserdisc denoiser for Avisynth.
Time

Here you are the rough guide I wrote myself, that I follow when I have to deal with analog captures - calculated with square pixels in mind, 640x480 NTSC full frame, 768x576 PAL full frame; captured at 720 pixel width, as most capture cards' native horizontal resolution have this width:

AR DAR NTSC frame mod8 (16)

1.33    4/3   720 x 480
1.66    4/3   720 x 386 (384)
1.78    4/3   720 x 360 (352)
1.85    4/3   720 x 344 (336)
2.20    4/3   720 x 288
2.35    4/3   720 x 272

AR DAR PAL frame mod8 (16)

1.33    4/3   720 x 576
1.66    4/3   720 x 462 (464)
1.78    4/3   720 x 432
1.85    4/3   720 x 416
2.20    4/3   720 x 344 (336)
2.35    4/3   720 x 324 (320)

Do these animation films need preservation?
Time

I must admit I can't remember if I have ever watched it... maybe, as I have actually watched thousands of films, but my memory lacks lately... (**/)

It seems an interesting animation film, but it's not on my list because I have not it on LD; I could think to make a preservation/restoration project, if only someone would like to send it to me as a Xmas gift... (^^,)

Well done!

But if someone copy it verbatim, it doesn't work... here you are the working version (only changed some spacing and CR):

function LDnoise(clip input, float "strength", int "mc", int "temporalframes",\
int "blksize", int "search", int "searchparam", int "overlap", int "dct")
{

# Set default options.

strength=default(strength,1)
    temporalframes=default(temporalframes,1)
mc = default(mc, 0)

# Prepare supersampled clip.

super = input.MSuper(levels=6,chroma=true)

# Motion vector search.

b5vec = MAnalyse(super, delta=5, isb=true,chroma=true, search=search, searchparam=searchparam, overlap=overlap, dct=dct)
b4vec = MAnalyse(super, delta=4, isb=true,chroma=true, search=search, searchparam=searchparam, overlap=overlap, blksize=blksize, dct=dct)
b3vec = MAnalyse(super, delta=3, isb=true,chroma=true, search=search, searchparam=searchparam, overlap=overlap, blksize=blksize, dct=dct)

I renamed the funtion LDdenoise, as to me LDnoise seems to add laserdisc noise... (^^,)

The Matrix [spoRv] *BD-25 RELEASED*

About scenes with artifacts: I screened the movie not twice, not three times, but FOUR times - each time revising few shots; plus, another person watched it too, and he found shots with artifacts, where I found others; at the end, only some shots were discovered by both, and the others were different... you have a very good eye! Your help will be really appreciated!

About the re-encoded track: even if I agree, that masses don't care about one or other nicknames, nonetheless some credit doesn't harm anybody, don't you think? (^^,) the fact is, if he's a friend of mine, why doesn't he contacted me before his release? I have no problem with that, but I repeat, a simple reference to the original project would have been nice - even if a .nfo or .txt with the description would have been better...
