Sure. Here’s a mockup with “You are nothing!” shifted a little later to alleviate the awkward silence, and here’s one with it shifted all the way to the end as DZ suggests. (Edit: maybe it’s a little quiet there, but you get the idea)
I really like the first one here, and I think that Rey’s line honestly sounds really good too.
The problem with leaving in “I am all the Sith!” is that Rey’s new “I’m a Jedi!” response has to specifically be to Sheevie’s “a SCAVENGER GIRL is no match for the power in me!” statement, right? (edit: just as the poster above said!) Perhaps swapping Palpatine’s lines would work. Here’s a crude mockup of that idea (forgive the unpolished audio and lack of ghosts).
I really like this version. I feel like removing the “all the sith” line makes palpatine’s “you cant beat me” speech a tad short. Also, it really helps soldifiy the “all the sith spirits live in me because of the essence transfer”
So excited to have those last few beats of the TFA credits song before the TROS credits kick in. Praying this comes to fruition, it would be such a bittersweet ending and not just another “copy” and “paste” of the last trilogy’s ending!
Me too. I’ve always thought the weakest edit in V1 was the transition between the ending music and the credits. Adding in that motif really helps the transition and provides a more “triumphant” motif to end the saga on.
- Removed Rey using the dagger as an impossible compass while surveying the wreckage of the second Death Star. Sith whispers have been added strategically to imply the dagger mystically guiding her to the Wayfinder✅
Okay so I’ve been pouring over this specific transition for a bit and it is so jumpy. Unlike TFA:R or TLJ:L there seem to be moments in this edit where cuts are made but the transition needed because of the deleted scene is jarring, even for first-time viewings. Another example of this is Finn showing up randomly during Rey and Poe’s argument when the Falcon Lands. It’s almost like people have gained the ability to teleport distances of about a foot or two, the in-scene continuity is lacking.
For this scene, if the horses are shown before Poe turns around and points his blaster it might justify his apparent teleportation better.
So the scene with the blade and whispers ->
then that quick shot of the horses coming over the hill (it is a close-up, which is awkward, but it would still work) ->
Then Poe turning and pointing his blaster, then the scene could continue from there.As for the lightspeed skip conversation, I know we discussed this before, but making that cut removes the concept of lightspeed skipping yet makes that scene suffer by teleporting Finn which just seems like an edit for edits sake. As is it is just too obvious that a scene was cut introducing Finn into the conversation.
EDIT: Looking at the Falcon landing scene again Poe teleports a couple of feet in front of Rey also when Finn shows up (since we have that shot of BB8 watching them argue.)
To me, these are the only issues I’ve had with the current work print
Watching v2 of the workprint now.
I’m not a huge fan of cuttig Finn’s lines when the Falcon gets back to base, he just kind of abruptly appears between Poe and Rey while they’re arguing. Plus, I actually like the sassy “always” he says about Poe.
This is a tad off topic, but I think a way to fix some of the pacing the first act is to separate Rey and Kylo’s visions (like Dominic is planning on doing). The quick cut to Kylo is where I feel the most whiplash with this movie. The rest of the edit is pretty damn great though

I like moving those scenes around. It just seems to flow better, but that might just be me.
Can you cut out the part where Rey is levitating with rocks orbiting her? It would do wonders for never seeing her levitate again and would make her seem less overpowered
I don’t think that’s necessary. She’s never in a situation later where levitating would get her out of a jam. Plus, we do kinda see her levitate when she does all those Jedi flips.
I feel like the light speed skipping cuts away to quickly. It needs to linger on the trail the Falcon leaves for a second or two before wiping.

I was re-going through my TFA edit, and I’m sure you could use a lot of those cockpit shots above Starkiller Base to help lengthen the despair before the fleet arrives.
That’s a good idea. If Hal’s edit of TFA left out some cockpit shots, they’d probably be perfect to repurpose.

Pan down to TIEs approaching a destroyer (with some tiny specks beneath, subtly moving toward the planet
Aerial shot of a patterned lava flow, with a few troop carriers flying by, either above camera or very closeby underneath, overtaking the camera (could use the forest shot instead)
Troop carriers land, and troops emerge, heading into battle
Distant shot of a lava eruption with trees in the foreground
Kylo Ren is seen on a rampage, and scene goes on from there
That’s pretty awesome. I would only suggest flipping the shots on the troops landing. When they land they’re moving from right to left, but then once Kylo is introduced they’re moving from left to right. It breaks the 180 degree rule and is visually a little confusing. Other than that it looks awesome.
I’ve just spent the morning figuring it out! If you take the whoosh sound of the final lightspeed skip before the transition and lay it over the clip just after the wall burst, it fits perfectly for a seamless transition with sound and cut just before the TIE comes into frame. I hope that helps you fix the sound issue. I think it works great.

That’s pretty great! Now it can look like the falcon is on fire and dinged up from crashing through the wall

Dude I totally agree. It’s such an “establishing” looking shot of his face.
Other than that, the Battlefront II footage is a little too clean and stands out a little bit, but not bad by any means. This also incorporates poppasketti’s tie footage.
I would maybe use less of the BF2 footage. Maybe cut to Kylo right before the shot of the jet troopers, cus that’s where I feel it starts looking “video gamey”
Here is an idea to use both the Helmet scene and the beginning but ALSO use Dominic’s new and improved Kylo vision that leads the reforging of the helmet.
To focus more on Dominc’s vision part, instead of using the helmet scene, what if “we” were to use the deleted scene of Kylo on the bridge form TLJ

This is shown whenever after his meet up with palps. Then que in Kylo’s vision/flash backs with dialogue that Dominic did and then cut to the helmet being reforged.

That might work. The only issue I have with it is that I like that Kylo has a vision about rebuilding his mask after touching Vader’s mask.
Kylo looking out of the star destroyer does give the impression that he’s upset and contemplating his actions, which could lead into why he’s rebuilding his mask.
Here’s the current state of the crawl. The first sentence is temporary and needs something more inspired. And the second paragraph needs another clause. Not sure if “rumored” could be replaced with something like “stashed.”
Maybe say “hidden imperial fleet” or “forgotten imperial fleet”
