Here’s something from the Battle of Naboo.
Here’s something from the Battle of Naboo.
Something else I find funny or ironic: Luke is literally a shadow of himself fighting at the end of the movie.
That’s not how that word is supposed to be used!

What method are you using for the special effects?
I created a basic city-scape in Source Filmmaker, I set up lighting, then I set up cameras to then create 4k images.
I take those images into Hitfilm then I composite everything. The clouds are from an image of a sunset I took last year.
I know for a fact that there are better, far more efficient ways of achieving similar effects, but I am content with my current methods.
While it is pretty abrupt, I wouldn’t remove the dialog.
I feel like that if I can convey the same info in an earlier scene it would be better to have this scene be silent. If the other scene can’t be included, then the dialogue will stay.
The music is great, but I think that as soon as it starts to ramp up the intensity you should make it a little quieter because Yoda gets kind of hard to hear.
I really liked the clip. I felt like the audio was a bit “abrupt” when Obi-Wan started talking, and it “breaks off” with the tradition of every SW movie end with a silent scene, but ultimately I’m ok with it. Great job.
I agree with the abruptness, but if people think that the dialogue ruins the scene I’ll remove it. Thanks for the support.
JEDIT: On second thought, I think that I’ll remove the dialogue.
I will need to implement a replacement for the Yoda scene somehow (telling Obi Wan that he will train Anakin), possibly in the council chambers right before we cut to the sunset scene, but I don’t know.
I like it. I don’t know if you’re aware already, but you can still see the edge of the wall above Obi-Wan’s head when he’s talking to Anakin.
It will be fixed, thank you!
Anyways, does anybody have any “non-image” issues with the clip? Like is the music too loud when Obi-Wan is talking etc.
Anywho, I need some help developing the crawl. Here’s my current prototype:
/////
It is a period of unrest. Several thousand solar systems have left the Republic, leaving the galaxy in turmoil.
This SEPARATIST ALLIANCE in its hunger for more members has invaded the small planet of Naboo, hoping to secure its alliance by force.
The Supreme Chancellor of the Republic has secretly dispatched two Jedi Knights, the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy, to settle the conflict…
/////
I really don’t like how it feels to read it. It has all of the needed details, but it doesn’t really flow. If anybody has any suggestions, I’m open.

Lol. I guess I’m going to be making a Vimeo account after all. Expect this preview to be up later today.
You’re not offering your skills for anyone else, anyway, are you?
Once I finish DoW I might do that, but again my edits are my own priority. I hope that you understand.
On the Jocasta Nu scene, I have no idea where I would squeeze that scene in order to serve the pacing and structure of the movie. Of course there will be exposition in my edit, I thought about Qui Gon and Dooku having a little telepathy scene during the opening escape (like Luke/Vader in empire) with Qui Gon saying “Master” or something, then during the council scene Qui Gon adds that he sensed something. One of the council says “Dooku” and Mace says that he was once a Jedi.
Of course I don’t know if all of those edits will work because I haven’t really tested them yet, but I definitely have ideas on how to explain Dooku. The last thing I want to do is add Dookus backstory to the crawl.
Here’s another preview shot of the ending of the movie! (Obi Wan and Anakin watch the sunset as Obi-Wan confirms that he has been allowed to train him)

After:
I might have the entire ending bit done next week! Keep in mind that a lot of the process right now is trying to find out which techniques work and don’t work.
After I’m done with this part, the next thing I’m going to work on is the climactic space battle above Naboo.
Do you have anymore clips, I’m really curious about this edit. Surprised it isn’t getting more attention. Looks great so far!
I’m working on the ending scene of the movie (Coruscant sunset picture from earlier.) Thank you for the support!
Here’s a crazy idea that I’ve been toying around with:
It is still very much a work in progress, but I hope to completely re imagine Coruscant into something that more closely resembles Ralph McQuarrie’s old gothic-inspired art:
I am intrigued - many years of Prequel Fan Edits (some of them very well done) had left me jaded as to more - yet yours and Snooker’s coming Dawn Of War both have me looking forward to watching these.
Nice one, and good luck.
Aww, thanks!
Anyways, the trailer was really good! I can’t wait to see the final product!
Everything involving Luke (minus milking the alien) is perfect. The whole “The Rebellion is reborn” quote is badass.
Here it is: the full (albeit cut up in a few spaces) score for TLJ:

It feels like Star Wars purgatory set to music. Though I mean that in a positive connotation: it’s moody, subdued, and it pulls a plethora cues from films and places I definitely never expected to hear again. Definitely evocative of early 70’s Williams in its style.
I don’t think that that’s the score! The description has incorrect track titles.
It’s a (somewhat) common expression in the English language. If Star Wars was in any way realistic (other than amazing characters) they wouldn’t even speak english!
The words within the dialogue don’t matter, it’s the purpose.
I told myself that I was going to avoid spoilers for this one, but after some asshole on Reddit spoiled it for me I decided to go all in.
If anyone’s interested, here’s all of the dialogue in the movie.
Holy shit
Is that a good ‘holy shit’ or a bad one? 😃
Hey, I’ll accept Jabba being one to flaunt his wealth for his amusement. We have seen that he loves his various forms of entertainment, no matter how life-threatening.
The Tusken camp scene looks really good! How did you edit the mattes?
I used an image of a horizon from google and I just slapped that on top of the original and did my best to make it blend.
I’ve got a dumb suggestion but is there a way you could add Tarkin in anyway? 😛
Probably not in Episode I, but maybe in 2 or 3. 😃

Anyways in my spare time I’ve been fiddling around with the idea of editing Return of the Jedi (removing the Death Star, etc) and here’s an early shot from above “Had Abaddon” with the Emperors space station.
Episode I is coming along very nicely. One thing that I’m prioritizing is improving the digital Mos Espa mattes by completely removing them. For a backwater desert town there are too many “skyscrapers” and weird floating… gas platforms? Those are all going away!
One thing I would like to see, and I don’t know if this has been mentioned, was the alternate opening deleted scene that was featured in the 2011 Blu Ray, where Vader after arriving on the Death Star, tries to contact Luke, and Luke is building his lightsaber. Since seeing that for the first time I’ve always felt Lucas messed up by not including it.
Adywan has already confirmed that he will not be using deleted scenes.
That’s a great idea!
Does anyone know if Liam Neeson ever said “Dooku” in his Qui Gon voice?
Yeah, in the final edit there will be an establishing shot.
Thank you for your feedback!
