DESTROY ALL JEDI: The unfinished Tarantino-inspired prequel edit
Time

The purpose of this scene has shifted to provide a little information about Maul’s new backstory.

Fats McGee also tells Obi-Wan about Geonosis and rumors of a Rebellion against the Republic being based there.

I just can’t think of a good off-hand comment to end the scene on to replace the “How big your… pocketbook is” line.

Smithers said:

 • Han works for the empire

Makes sense since he apparently knows ‘standard Imperial protocol’ in Empire.

 • Han pretending a rock was a thermal detonator

It was funny, and a nice callback to Jabba’s throne room. Also shows Han thinking on his feet.

 • Lando’s droid talking about equal rights (the audience groaned) P O L I T I C A L C O M M E N T A R Y

My audience laughed a lot (especially at her little interaction with Lando in the cockpit). Also, the reason that’s there isn’t for political commentary, it’s to set up the Kessel Uprising. When we first see her she’s angry at the droid fights, we are reminded of her droid-rights ideas in the cockpit, and it’s payed off on Kessel.

I really enjoyed the movie! Better than Rogue One because the characters are actually characters and not walking, talking boring.

The Lando/Han dynamic in Empire was perfectly set up too, which was fun to see. I felt like most of the audience was confused as fuck when Maul showed up.

I hope that this movie gets the sequel that it sets up.
