What Special Edition changes (if any) did people like?

That was an oversight. I bet you didn't see other similar mistakes in my posts.

Otherwise your majesty, don't be so cocky, try to learn my language, then you can talk about grammar with an Italian guy with a modest English education.

Of course the movies are getting worse with every new release. Instead of fixing old errors they create new continuity errors, they f**k up the colours, they f**k up the sound mix...

Actually old errors were fixed.
As for the colors, it's true they're not as good as they should be, but the 2011 blu-ray versions have the best color timing since 1997 special editions..

In AOTC and ROTS, Anakin was basically an annoying, arrogant, jealous, self-centred, unlikeable jerk, who on top of that was constantly consciously breaking Jedi rules (e.g. Padme romance, etc.). A complete opposite of a good person or "pure Jedi".

Everything Anakin does in the first half of SW III makes him a good Jedi.

If you spare me the revisionist nonsense and dare to imagine that everyone on that film might have worked hard to do a good job on it, even if some of them thought it was a bit silly, then I'll do you the courtesy of believing you are simply misinformed, and that your slight of the original crew was unintentional.

Otherwise, I'll be forced to assume you have no idea what you're talking about, and will be inclined to think it not worth hearing in the first place.

Wow, now that you showed me the truth I feel illuminated.

Stop being cocky because I still see no evidence of what you're trying to validate.

Do you think Disney will release the unaltered versions for DVD and blue ray?

What about it?

Oh hi! And thank you for your work :)

I was doubtful about preservation of original colors, but Anctu's confirmation makes me more comfortable.

I suppose a good restoration process wouldn't be possible for 2011 versions..   well, I'll stick with the original unaltered versions if Disney can pull of definitive transfers of them.

what many of you fail to understand is that 2011 blu-rays come from old scans, and probably the original negatives are nowhere to be found.

Nowadays a 4K digital scan is the standard, but that wasn't the case when the trilogy was first restored, and at that time Lucas did the best the tecnhology allowed him.

So on one hand I'd love to see new stunning transfers for these three movies, on the other hand I realistically think there are not many chances of seeing state of the art HD remaster without scanning proper source material.

The Force is basically MAGIC, not some sci-fi microbes. It CAN guess what he would look like.

It doesn't make any sense. Suspension of disbelieve is not unlimited...  you have to put some limitations, and follow a bit of logic; otherwise everything you show on screen, however absurd, is legit.

But I don't see the real need for changes at all

Most of them were added to fix things Lucas couldn't achieve back then when he wanted to.

Some of them are useless indeed, I'm not arguing about the silliness of the rock covering R2 or some extra creatures on background that weren't needed........but all in all a good 75% of the changes just make the movies look better, more coherent to the saga, and less ..."cheap".

You have to understand it can be very very very frustrating for a creative author (like G.Lucas was, and is still now in some ways) not to be able to get his work the way he wanted. It's a struggle many director have to face, but for Lucas in '76 that was a true nightmare: i think many of you know the facts and the making of A New Hope, he was truly the only one on that set who actually believed in what he was doing. Everyone else, actors included, thought they were working on a poor bad b-movie and put not as much efforts as he did.

I'm a fan since 90's but I can't share all this absolute rejection and criticism towards Lucas works. As a matter of fact every thing he did after 1983 (new movies, changes to the old ones...) was never judged clearly and impartially.

Anyway I want to believe there can be a compromise, and maybe one day we will see new 4K transfers of these 3 movies in blu-ray, with both version of them in every disc.

And I replied a hundred times with a simple explanation:

the Force CANNOT guess how a 43 year old Anakin would have looked without burns and wounds.

And yes, Anakin redeemed himself, but by that time he was a corrupted man who got back on the good path before dying. So his spirit shows the look he actually had when he was a pure Jedi.

And c'mon... do you seriously Luke wouldn't feel his father? Even with a younger look?

Frankly my only issue with this scene is not the change itself (which I find perfectly logical, from a narrative point of view), but the making.

Lucas could have shot new takes with Hayden instead of using old takes and replacing Shaw's head only.

All the critics and complaints are pointless, when Anakin dies he gets back to the light side of the force, and guess which look he had last time he was a true jedi...
