I decided I had more to say on the Last Jedi and it took me a long time to gather my thoughts on it ,so I wrote an article on it …https://screamsinthevoid.deviantart.com/journal/

Really enjoyed reading that - nice one 😃

Seems a fair bit of credit should be going to those others who have contributed to Star Wars before…

Thank you ! I am glad you enjoyed it ,it took me a long time to write and compile everything and I am sure I left some stuff out, hopefully others on here will have feedback on it as well

a Snoopy / Peanuts / Charlie Brown appreciation thread - including the 2015 film
Time

I remember one day at school as a child, sitting inside during recess and reading a small peanuts black and white paperback book of comic strips that was on the classroom shelves in the recreation area and I strongly identified with Charlie Brown . I was a shy , introverted kid and was a bit wishy washy myself , picked last in sports ,not the popular kid, kind of alienated etc …Developed more self esteem and assertiveness later ,though I still have a little social awkwardness. Cool story by the way , and yeah , Snoopy rocks . My favorite is the original Great Pumpkin tv special with Snoopy as the Flying ace behind enemy lines. That show was an annual tradition in my household and my brother and I would have popcorn from a hot air popper and sit down to watch it , usually on CBS broadcasting here in The U.S.,this was in the late 70’s to mid 80’s and the show usually had announcements before it started to the effect of . "brought to you by Colgate ",or ther sponsors .I miss those days ,thank you for sharing this .

you are welcome . I suppose I am a nerd as well although I do not feel bad about it as there are plenty of sports fans who do things like paint their faces up and wear foam cheese on their heads …glad you are enjoying and I thought the Omega frost story was where Infantino started to hit his stride on the art , also enjoyed his issues on the water world of Drexel that were inked by Terry Austin

awesome stuff folks ! thanks for posting it , that Starlog interview was great and yeah ,Marvel did come close a lot , they even got a cease and desist when they wanted to do a second Death Star so they made The Tarkin battle station story in 51-52 instead . and as was posted earlier , the debut of the Hoojibs issue had Rebels on early Speeder Bikes , a few issues down the line the furry little Lahsbees on hang gliders etc …also , here is a forum I found where someone reviews every single issue …,do not agree with everything but we all have our opinions ,interesting read anyhow …enjoy …http://classiccomics.org/thread/1039/star-wars-marvel-reviews-confessor

what are people here’s favorite issues or story lines from the series ?

Pretty much any of the issues written by Archie Goodwin and drawn by Carmine Infantino. Those really are the highlights of the entire original Marvel run for me. Everything after ESB, is fine, but to me they don’t quite have the same charm and great mix between cartoony and serious that Goodwin managed to pull off.

very cool , those were great issues , nice collection ! I have all of those as well .

One of my goals whenever I’m visiting the US is to get original copies of all of the Goodwin/Infantino issues (plus whatever else I can get my hands on from both orig. Marvel and Dark Horse).

So far I only have the first storyline with the Dragonlords, and some of the stand-alone stories set in between the Baron Tagge storylines.

I’m personally not a big fan of the Aduba-3 storyline, the Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven in space idea was a pretty cool idea, but it was a tad too silly for me. However, does anyone know why Chaykin stopped writing SW after this storyline and why he was replaced by Goodwin? I’ve heard that Lucas didn’t like the way he was handling the stories so he requested he be replaced. Can anyone verify is that’s true or just speculation?

I am wondering if there is a difference between colors in the various reprint trades.

You should see what they did to the original Marvel comics in Scandinavia. Not only did they have their own colours, but they even edited the art itself to make it all fit within these big album sized comics.

Imgur

Some examples of the editing they often did;
(The Dark Horse “A LONG TIME AGO” version of issue #31 “Return to Tatooine” on the left, and the Norwegian album version from 1982 on the right)

LINK to another example from issue #34 “Thunder in the Stars”

(PS. The movie adaptation of ANH didn’t even bother to make the colours similar, but they did at least never alter the art in any serious way.)
wow ! I have never seen some of those covers thank you for sharing ! they really stripped the colors out of some of those panels !

Star Wars Radio Drama - *update in 1st post* - completed review
Time

yes , It is strange for me as well as I was listening to The Empire Strikes Back Radio Drama on Friday ! I like it a lot though John Lithgow as Yoda is strange and takes some getting used to, also strange is that a very young David Allen Grier voices Boba Fett .It is shorter than the original radio drama but Mark Hamill , Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels reprise their roles . The Jedi drama is ok but only Anthony Daniels is in it , it makes a lot of references to Shadows Of The Empire which I thought was cool .I also have the book of the Script which was published by Del Rey for The Empire Strikes Back in 1995 , it is illustrated throughout with Johnston and McQuarrie storyboards and some of the dialogue is different to the commercially released tapes and cd’s . There was an article I read on the differences somewhere , wish I could find it …would love to see it if anyone has it .

Recommendations for Legends (old EU) books, comics, etc.
Time

and I really do not get how long time members here can be so rude to someone who just put themselves out there and maybe like something you do not , dude was not even being critical of anything or any one and just wanted to socialize , I wonder how many people get turned off of this site and never come back due to this treatment . You never really know who they could be or what possibly valuable contributions they might make .

Hi I’m New to the Forum. anyways after seeing the new Disney films (Force Awakens,Rogue One,Last Jedi)I always felt the Books from Legends were a lot better then Disney movies. I’m currently enjoying the Courtship of Princess Leia.

I enjoyed that one as well and still have the paperback , I like how they introduced the Witches of Dathomir and they made it into clone wars in modified form . A warm welcome to you .
