Revenge Of The Cut - Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith (* unfinished project *)
Time

I still think it doesn't work.  The theme almost sounds romantic and NOT Star Wars-y, to my ear at least.  Meanwhile, some people over at a big John Williams forum found it and have a couple thoughts as well:

Note that I didn't post it.  I'm a member there, but my username is "rpvee", just like here.

2. The theme will no longer come out of nowhere during the final duel.

3. We'd be so used to hearing it so friendly and "good", that hearing it so apocalyptic with a choir while these brothers duel to the death would be extra heart-breaking.

it's a good idea, but for now, I am not sure if I will let Battle of the heroes in my cut...as I already said, I like it, brillant work, but not enough Star Wars IMO

It's not as Star Wars as a piece from Superman?  Seriously?  I'm trying to like your edit and I really am interested in the new music, but things like using Superman music in Star Wars, and introducing an important theme for the first time ever with a variation just are not wise choices.

If Battle is not "Star Wars-y" enough, then you could make it Star Wars enough.  But putting Superman in Star Wars is just, as someone else said, lazy.

Eh, it doesn't really say "Jedi Heroes" to me.  And someone's commenting how it's pretty much exactly a track from Superman with just a few changes?  And listening to that piece from Superman, he's right.  You're just putting a Superman theme in Star Wars.

I know you won't take this suggestion, but I reallllly think you should at least heavily consider it: make the "Obi-Wan and Anakin Theme" a good-hearted, calm version of the "Battle of the Heroes" theme.  Here are the pro's to that:

1. You have a Star Wars theme, not a Superman one.

2. The theme will no longer come out of nowhere during the final duel.

3. We'd be so used to hearing it so friendly and "good", that hearing it so apocalyptic with a choir while these brothers duel to the death would be extra heart-breaking.

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)

This is Ken's supposed email from Lucasfilm, as posted on the Blu Ray forums:

You probably have to belong to the forum to see it.  Funny how his inbox only has two messages.

Uh.. noob alert, I've goht a qwestion:

What's the fake here? The Russian trailer? What's fake about it?
Only thing that stroke me, is that the synchro voices (without exception) all sound like cheap parodies or something - or just increidbly bad.

Was that fake?

It's fake.  The scenes are just from the 2004 DVDs, and anything that looks different is from Adywan's amazing "Revisited" edits of Star Wars and (the trailers for) Empire.

I guess no rpvee, I think Ady might be referring to a common PT "plot" phase, where all three movies could be worked as a whole in order to improve the story arc and see what works and what doesn't, while there could still be a time after that, when the movies are treated individually, a "technical" phase (?) concerning the "classical" revisited job (enhancing mattes, Colour Correction, etc.)

But ofc, I'm just guessing, Adywan has the real answer.

That's a good point too.  But you're right, Ady has the real answer.

seemingly... un-Lucas

Just remember that his most famous films feature World War II dogfights in space. He's just moved the setting to the right time.

True, true.  Yet this seems to have much more emotional weight than Star Wars ever did.  Not to mention the rules of reality.

it's ok to be a drastic variation in this case because technically this would be the first time you hear the theme anyway.

No, it wouldn't be ok.  If this is the first time a viewer heard the theme, they'd think it was the actual theme, and then be confused when it's never heard that way ever again.

I'm a little late commenting on this, but seriously just about every theme in Star Wars has a variation. Why would this be any different? Because you're hearing K's version first? Confuse people? How? Sorry, just doesn't make sense to me.

The first time you hear something, you naturally assume that's the definitive version.  In playing a variation first, the listener assumes that's the definitive version of this new theme, until it's never heard that same way ever again.  Imagine starting A New Hope's crawl with a variation of the Star Wars theme, and then the rest of the movies with how it usually is.

and when introducing a theme for almost the first time, you don't want such drastic variations so soon.

not if the real Leia' s theme becomes now a variation of this one ; )

I understand what you mean, and I thought about this before starting my work.: I don't know exactly when, maybe during the birth of twins, but I will use Leia's theme before this sad version

NO, don't make a permanent change to Leia's theme... you don't want to go changing Williams' work.  Keep Leia's theme as Leia's theme, and I insist that you make its VERY PROMINENT use in this scene on Alderaan be the actual theme, NOT a variation.  The dark undertones can still be there.

I just can't understand why the issue of the OOT not being released on blu-ray is a big issue it's not a huge deal for me.

If you can't even understand why it's an issue, you shouldn't be here.

Not to mention he seems to think that his opinion = law.  It's not a "huge deal" for him, so it shouldn't be for anyone else.  It's making me laugh a bit, honestly.
