You might find this thread helpful:

I imagine it wouldn't be much of an option for this project on most laptops because HD films drag like hell through most laptop media players.

Mounting a ISO or Disc Image is merely the process of opening it as if you had a DVD in your drive rather than a collection of files.

Most media players have this option somewhere if you explore the drop down menus.

It will open in exactly the same way so if the ISO has a Menu of it's  own (like that on a DVD) it will appear on screen first and you will have all the same options you would have if you burned the disc and popped it into a disc drive.

I still don't know how I'd find the ISO file, though, as it's against the rules to post links to them.  Do I need to PM the creators, or ask them to PM me in the thread, or what?

And those newsgroups aren't an option for me...

Hi.

So I see threads about these 1080p amazing-looking versions of the saga, done by you guys, but when reading said threads, I only see info about files that I can't find being burnt to DVDs, and sometimes not working, etc.  Is there any way to get these in a simple format to just watch on my 1080p laptop?

Thanks!

Just download and mount the iso.

I'm a total newbie... where do I download the "iso", and what is mounting?  I'm so confused... sorry.  And these are true 1080p that will look amazingly awesome on my laptop? lol

OK, utorrent says the download is at 0.1%, after quite a while of waiting even for that. AND, the "ETA" is shifting between "1w 2d" and "2w 1d", and I can't help but fear that w=week and d=day...

No one could upload it to rapidshare...?

EDIT: OK, now it says about 10h (hours, I'm sure). Still a bit too long to leave my computer on for, seeing as how I have to go to sleep sometime tonight!

I don't know why I can't do torrents. It downloaded in like a second, I tried to open it, but my computer had to go online to look for software to use to open it. It found none. :-/
Your first clue is "My computer had to go online to look for software to use to open it". You need torrent software to download files using torrents. :)
DOWNLOAD UTORRENT

This is extremely easy to use software and it's free. This does not have to be installed. Just run it from your desktop or where ever you would like.

Thanks, I'll do that when I get home. Knowing my luck, something will mess up, but I guess we'll see. :P

Sorry for bothering you all with this... I've never done anything like this before, but adywan's edit really pushed me to try. :)

Wait, I just looked at it again...

1. My computer can't do .rar's.

2. I don't want the movie split into hundreds of parts on my iPod.

Unless I'm reading that wrong...

Your computer should be able to do rars. all you need is a program like winrar. The rar files are just the movie split into a compressed package for posting. Once you have all the rar files then you open up one of the rar in winrar and it will unpack all the files into the movie. the movie will not be split at all once unpacked

OK, a few things:

1. I love the clips on Youtube - you are a genius to have made this!
2. I wish you the best of luck on ESB Revisited.
3. Where do I get winrar, and is it an official Windows program?
4. I would still need the film in .mp4 format before I have any point in getting winrar in the first place.

I know exactly how to encode video for the ipod as I have been doing it for 3 years. I have 150 movies in my collection that I have encoded myself. You say "What is usenet?" There is a learning curve to it. If you are interested in learning about it go here.

http://www.slyck.com/ng.php

It is the absolute best way to share files but it is not as "point and click" as torrents or limewire. It is however much faster.

OK! :)

Is there any way at all that I can get this in mp4 format? To have it on my iPod would be amazing...

I will make a iPod video of this and upload it to the usenet if you would like....

What is usenet? If it's safe and easy to use, than that would be most welcome (though the correct iPod specifications must be in place, mainly the resolution).

And also, a little-known-fact is that the iPod has a "Fit To Screen" option. So, if the video file is anamorphic widescreen and not letterbox, the iPod can fit the picture to fit the entire screen and create a full-screen version.
