to bring in some comments about dubbed versions: The german OT SE introduced a 2nd voice for Luke, used in the reinserted Biggs scene at the end of EP4. It introduced a 2nd voice for Darth Vader, used in ESB for the 'Bring my Shuttle' scene. Both voices don't(!) fit well.

The 2004 ESB DVD introduced a 3rd voice for Darth Vader, used for the Emperor Hologram scene. And a 2nd voice for the Emperor, in the very same scene.

It's a shame having a character using 3 voices in one single movie.

On the other side, here in Spain the spanish dub has been always very carefully done. All additional ANH scenes on 1997 were dubbed by the original spanish voices, even the single line "Alert my star destroyer..." for TESB was done by the amazing Constantino Romero, the original Darth Vader voice.

For the 2004 ESB DVD again Constantino Romero did the aditional Emperor hologram scene, even though Palpatine's voice is from the prequels (the ROTJ original voice actor died years ago).

Someone found this:

http://www.fsk.de/index.asp?SeitID=491&TID=70&txtFilmtitel=star+wars

So about 46 minuted of extended(?) scenes for the PT and about 47 for the OT. Interesting that the OT ones seem to be split into two parts. But you could probably halve that running time because there are probably introductions included in that.

Thanks for the info, adywan. Maybe the 19 minutes are for alternate versions for scenes in the movie and the other 28 minutes are for entirely deleted scenes?

Three "alternate" cuts I've made:

"The empire strikes back" opening scenes alternate cut with original isolated John Williams music soundtrack:

is it just me, or does Kazanjian not really sound like he knows of what he speaks?

No, it's not just you, it looks the same way to me.

Hamill looks like Hamill on that scene, and I don't understand why they would need a body double for Hamill back then for that shot. I mean, they would need it NOW, but then? With Hamill looking exactly like he did on Jedi and available (because he did shot the X-Wing cockpit re-shot)? I don't believe it.

Howard Kazanjian on page 64 of the book "The Making of The Return of the Jedi" (Del Rey, 1983):

"Mark Hamill is coming back for one day of shooting later this month [November 1982] to do the scene where he builds his new lasersword..."

This scene was a re-shot made after the principal shooting was over. It was shot the same day as the scene with Luke on the X-Wing cockpit talking to Han and Leia via intercom, to sustitute the cut sandstorm scene.

It is possible the shots of Vader are recycled because they didn't bother to shot new Vader scenes so late after the main shooting was over.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Here is a new, updated version of my TESB alternate opening with isolated music score:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JWJ3Gadwuk

The first version had some odd jump cuts and image quality was so-so. Now image quality is better, jump cuts are gone and I've updated the aditional shots needed to sync the music. I think is nicer now, hope you like it.

There's been some talk before about the two different probe droid landings. In my clip I have "corrected" it (now there's only ONE probe), even though I'm not sure of the results.

I made a video time ago trying to sync the opening scenes from TESB with the John Williams music cue "The ice planet Hoth" (that's supposed to be heard there). I changed some shots order, added two new shots and extended one shot in order to make the music fit. Maybe it can give some ideas, maybe not.

In case you are interested:

BTW, Ady, in case you are interested I will translate the subtitles for TESB Revisited to spanish (as I did for ANH).

There's a few jump cuts in there but on the whole it works a treat, a great piece of work.

The music might be even more in sync if the surplus to requirements shot of Han's Tauntaun was removed.

We can hear him on Luke's comlink, we see him ride the thing into the base, do we really have to see the model (and it's not a very good shot) stomping around far, far away?

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I agree, the "Han on Tauntaun from a distance" shot seems totally out of place, it has always bugged me. Maybe the music sync would be better without it, I'm not sure. I did this video quite long ago even though I published it on Youtube three months ago.

And the jump cuts are due to my limited knowledge on video/audio editing.

Yes, spanish subtitles, translated by me . And english for the hearing impaired too, I think.

Too bad I didn't hear of this earlier, I could've helped make french ones.

Maybe you are still on time. Ask adywan about it.
