Happy Birthday Harmy!
teaser trailer? :D :D :D
Wow, the results are coming along really well with this. I would love to see this in motion one day. Keep up the good work!
I'm really excited about this project! That opening is so much better than the original!
This is awesome news! Long have we waited for someone to finally do a project like this!
I've always found the THX WOW DVD upscales nicely in a semi-decent blu-ray player. :-)
Not sure about the english soundtracks having any major changes in terms of redubbing, but I'd love to hear the LD PCM audio anyway. Are you doing the audio for all languages?
Just wanted to say that I love some of your ideas for your edits. :-)

Is the Rock Blu ray mix the same as on the DTS laserdisc?
Watched it recently the picture was really nice but remember the theater mix sounding better. Could be because of their expensive loudspeaker equipment or the levels they played the audio at.
What about the Criterion DVD? I'm sure the mix on that was also different to the original DVD and Blu-ray.
I really wish Warner Bros would just give us the extended international cuts of Superman and Superman 2 already. Fans have been after them for a number of years now. I hope, being as it is the 75th year anniversary, another box set will appear with previously unreleased cuts and extras. It would be a wasted opportunity for them in terms of milking another box set if they didn't.
BD luma, DVD chroma looks the most overall balanced to me. The only thing that it needs fixing is the contrast. It's not far off the DVD in terms of colour but without the side-effects and problems of ColourLikeRGB . I prefer the colour with ColourLikeRGB but it has too many problems with the picture for me to choose it over some of the others. I find the BD luma, DVD Chroma to have the least faults and would happily accept that if a tweak or two was made to the contrast.
We need more input from other people.

especially if they feel the cost of doing this outweighs the benefit of $$$ return.
This is impossible no matter what LFL might say.
I agree, but there's always an excuse...
Is the fullscreen version only available in region 1?
Regarding the release of the unaltered versions, I think an upscaled fan preservation is going to be the best thing we're ever going to get unfortunately. Didn't Lowry say that the original prints were in bad shape numerous times? I'd doubt Disney would go out of their way to obtain better prints to work from and scan, especially if they feel the cost of doing this outweighs the benefit of $$$ return. Also, I doubt Kathleen Kennedy would authorise such a move, as it would undermine George's vision of Star Wars which we all know is now the "Special Edition" versions.
As much as I would love this to happen, I just don't see it ever happening. It would be some miracle if it ever did though. Sigh.
They are still selling the original Batman four pack DVD here in the UK in a number places as well. It makes a change for an older release DVD to still be in print.
You_Too those are amazing results! I never thought it would be possible to match the DVD exactly but you have proved it is!
This is turning out to be an amazing project.
I am actually impressed by those results. The green beard was also evident even in the original colour timing of the first DVD release as well, so it doesn't really both me personally.
hairy_hen, you definitely need to hear the HD audio of The Matrix compared to the original first release DVD, as they do sound very different to me. The punches when Neo is fighting Morpheus in the training program lack that extra loudness that I am hearing on the AC3 mix. I am not sure why this is, but others have heard it too.
As for Batman, I haven't heard the Batman and Batman Returns earlier releases, but I can definitely say Batman Forever is different in nearly each release. The bit I like to listen to is when Batman is swinging from beneath the Chopper through Gotham.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
I've just noticed that he has now regraded The Matrix!

You guys don't watch Harmy's despecialized?
I realised what I previously said is not true. I have seen Harmy's Sar Wars despecialized edition in the past 2yrs but not ESB or ROTJ (I was going to watch his despecialized editions but decided to wait and see what he impoves/changes). As said before, I want to see how Ady's ESB:R and dark_jedi's projects turn out as well.

I think the yellow saber would be a good idea if it was like, the color lightsaber of a Jedi Master. Like when you reach that rank, you get a yellow blade. So, Yoda, Kit Fisto, Mace Windu, etc. would all have yellow lightsabers. But then again, it would be kind of confusing when Obi-Wan becomes a master and joins the council but still has a blue blade... oh well, it's a cool thought nonetheless.
I actually like the idea too.
The reason why Obi-Wan still has a blue saber could be because he has to be a senior member of the jedi council before he is given the same privileges as Yoda, Qui-gon etc. So the top ranked Jedi's would be Yoda, Qui-gon, Windu and formally Dooku, all with yellow sabers. The green colour saber can be preserved just for ROTJ where Luke constructs his own lightsaber, and since the jedi council is extinct, it does not matter which colour he chooses.
I dunno, these are just some ideas lol.

Just got back from seeing it - bag of shite. Just can't be bothered to say any more at this point it's got me so pissed off.
Ady are you more a fan of the original Christopher Reeve film?
I haven't seen Man of Steel yet. I've been a bit apprehensive as I really love the Christopher Reeve films.
I had no idea the older Batman dvds had the better audio. I did sort of wonder this when I was buying Batman on dvd as I remembered that some of my older dvds had better audio than the later releases. I think what stopped me buying the older dvd of Batman was seeing that the new edition had a DTS track. Unfortunately the DTS wasn't nearly as impressive as I was hoping.
By the way, Batman Forever is a weird one. All the releases sound different to me. I remember staying up late one night going through the same scene with different audio on different releases. I could be wrong, but then it was a while ago..
