Um. Star, I think that was a bad analogy.

Jimmy Carter is not a bad man--he was a bad president. Besides driving up inflation, he also was very naive when it came to foreign affairs--and he also lost our ally in Iran, The Shah.

And winning a Nobel prize doesn't really say much.
Did not Mikhail Gorbachev also win one?

Well, I wouldn't know, as I only know Carter for his work after he left the white house, I am not familiar with his administration. Gorbachev did deserve the Nobel prize, yes.

A Nobel prize dosen't really say much?! And what does, a Grammy? So I guess Eminem gave the world a better contribution than, let's say, professor John Nash. I mean, he had all those newspapers laying around his home, and he did all those... uh, math things, and... gave the oportunity for Russel Crowe to get an Oscar, and... uh... Well I suppose you're right.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time the same party controlled everything the way it does now, we had Carter--a democrat--in the white house.
And we all know how that turned out.

What? He won a nobel prize, is that what you mean?

FLORIDA – 12:45 p.m.

As reported by Election Protection:

This is a summation from some of the calls to the Election Protection Hotline, 1-866-OUR VOTE, and some of the reports from the field.

In Pinellas County, Fla. callers report that individuals purporting to be from the Kerry campaign are going door-to-door handing out absentee ballots, and asking voters to fill them out, and then taking the ballots from them, saying "Vote here for Kerry. Don't bother going to the polls."

A field attorney in Miami-Dade, Florida, reports that the wait at one precinct is over 3 hours. That attorney also reports that twelve cars with disabled voters have been waiting for over two hours to be able to vote, and that only two poll workers have been assisting the disabled voters, which has led to this delay.

OHIO – 11:30 a.m.

Deanna Zandt, who is in the Election Protection offices in Columbus, Ohio reports that some precincts are reporting a 80% turnout rate in Columbus. Some of the precincts, she reports, have a 3+ hour-long wait.

Deanna says that there have been reports from election protection officials that there is some voter intimidation going on. She has heard that groups of Republican-backed intimidators have been walking up and down voter lines, misleading voters about their eligibiity to vote and telling them that they need to vote in another precinct.

FLORIDA – 8 p.m.

In Broward County in Florida, two voters complained that when they tried to select for Kerry, the electronic machine kept selecting for Bush. After several tries they were able to select their chosen candidate.

So I guess there will be four more years of this nonsensical political discution, eh?

Warbler, I can't seem to find the URL for my signature since it was linked through the michael moore website (hold it! don't scream yet!), and since it appears he have killed himself in a harakiri cerimony and his website has changed to a plain, black one, I can't get the link. BUT I have seen alegations of this in our TV news, people were interviewed and they claimed stuff like that - not only democrats but republicans also. THAT'S why I support the obligatory vote, in a pre-determined place, at a pre-determined date, all voting THE SAME WAY, with no electotal vote or anything like it. You people can ellect freaking Mussolini as far as I'm concearned, as long as it's fair and square.

It was. I sent it to myself over my e-mail, tomorrow @ work I'll send the URL. I've seen reports about similar cases over the internet and TV. People who were called and told that they could "vote by phone". People that replied to "phone surveys" about who would they vote for, and after said Kerry, they would reply "ok so don't forget to vote on november 3rd".
