Wow, that's pretty damn cool, Moth3r. I would be willing to watch it like that, if only just to satisfy my crippling OCD about the real differences in the "censored" versions and making a somewhat definitive documentation of the changes.

How sensitive is your method? Will it assuredly detect any noticeable difference? Does it give many false positives? I'm really intrigued by this.

So I'm looking at an Amazing Mr. Bickford Beta tape. Would anyone be able to assist in a high quality capture from said tape?

Are you going to make an HD version?

Cut one frame from a scene and see if you notice it. If someone else doesn't do it, I'm going to make the best possible preservation of this as is possible. Are the scenes essential to enjoying Roger Rabbit? No. Should they be preserved? I think so.

Ah. Well that sucks. Here's to hoping that they'll screw up and accidentally release the theatrical version someday.

I'll keep holding my breath for the full uncut version of this (not really, it's likely already destroyed or sitting in Don Bluth's personal vault) but here's a first run VHS if someone wants to cap it for the one scene that for sure turned up on home video. Subsequent pressings and the DVD don't have the scene.

In reference to the OOT being released, I have heard that Disney has already put the OT in "The Vault". Wouldn't surprise me. Build up demand for the discs again.

Good luck. I've never been able to recover a clicking hard drive. 

There are programs that claim to be able to recover, but again, nothing has worked for me, including the freezer trick. 

Anyone seen an HDTV copy of this anywhere?

I'll record something again and take a look at it. It's been a while since I used the DVD Recorder, I just remember seeing some nasty interlacing from programs I had recorded off of TV.

Avisynth has many more filters and options imo. If you have avspmod you can even preview what you are doing through a GUI  interface.  As far as filters go, I think I would deblock it, then use something like unsharpmask to sharpen it followed by a blur. Maybe anti-alias it as well.
