Woooooooooow. Never saw this happening. Thanks for the update. I’m guessing there’s not much chance they will include the extra scenes, but I’ll be happy to finally have this in HD. Thanks for the info, SilverWook.

What I’m puzzling over it that’s it’s 3/4 inch U Matic tapes. I would think a major cable network would broadcast using one inch VTR’s or whatever the standard was in the early 80’s. Was this something HBO sent around as a promo or for some other purpose?

U Matic was more a mainstay of small tv stations and local cable companies. The college tv station I once slaved at carried the programming of a network called NCTV, but we didn’t get their satellite feed, (for reasons I’ve long forgotten) so they sent us a box of U Matic tapes for each month’s programming. They had to be sent back the next month of course.

What is the best way to burn this and other MKV files to blu-ray disc properly and, preferably, without any reencoding?

I see Leawo has what is supposedly decent software. is that the way to go or is there something better?

I was also referred to TS Muxer, but I can’t seem to get that to open on my Mac without crashing.

I have no intention of buying a PC, nor do I want to put these on USB drives or stream.

Seconding this - I have used tsMuxer in the past but I have run into a lot of problems with it. I have a copy of Toast but it does not seem to play nice with .mkv files. Does anyone have a better solution?

What specific problem did you have with tsmuxer? I’ve made BD’s with many fan release mkv’s with very few problems.

For anyone who is interested, I am slowly but surely building an isolated music track for this. I began yesterday and got up to the point where the 2005 narrative begins. It is proving to be a bit of a challenge. The Transformers theme by Lion took some time as it seems they did not have the synth section in the film mix that otherwise can be heard on the album version of the song. I finally found a good spot to make it sound as it should without being jarring. I'll keep everyone updated on my progress.

Which prototypes? I have some old books of Japanese Transformers with great toys. I also found a promotional picture I bought from a newspaper that was selling old material.

Have not seen the blu ray so i cannot speak for it but every version either seems to be blown out in terms of color or too much dvnr.

The SONY DVD is overly bright. on both Widescreen and 4:3.

The UK ultimate edition had better balance i think but was probably the same master just color corrected.

This project looks amazing and I'm throwing my hat in the ring to offer any assistance I can provide. I've messed around with doing some cleanup on the Bluray print and even toyed with correcting some animation errors (Unicron lapping over the foreground scenery at 1:16 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhRCGiJrOik ).

You wouldn't happen to be the fellow at TFW2005 looking for the Japanese Laserdisc audio, would you?

Even better. Like DJ I would much rather rip my BD and rebuild it with the fixed frames than to have to acquire a movie only BD rip.
