Will the real Jabba the Hutt please stand up? No two versions look the same. The closest match is probably '83 and '99. The ANH versions are particularly sad. The question will remain: is "Jabba the Hutt" actually a conspiracy comprising a number of different hutts all going by the name "Jabba," or has ILM just gotten painfully lazy?

Actually, "Jabba the Hutt" is a title, not a name. Jabba's baby from the Clone Wars movie is the "Jabba" in ANH, who eventually grows into the ROTJ version.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to throw myself under a bus.

where did u hear this now?

Actually, I felt Boba Fett's apperance in the Jabba scene in the hanger bay was another mark against that scene. They only put him there because he is such a popular character. But this guy is suppose to be one of the galaxies absolute best bounty hunters, and yet he is just hanging around like one of Jabba's kronies. If Han had a mark on his head, and the great expert Boba Fett was in the area, why would some stupid newbie bounty hunter like Greedo get to him first. Or at the very least, why wouldn't he be off somewhere else capturing and collecting on bigger bounties, rather than playing a lousy hired thug for Jabba. Makes Boba seem like a loser who spends most his life just hanging around some obese giant slug.

all of the characters in with jabba in the hangar were all bounty hunters. that is, according to the novelization. however, it never mentions fett in the novel either.

Is it me or have the forums become a tad bitchy of late? I have noticed especially in the last six to eight months that if someone says something wrong or out of agreement with other members, that certain forum members go to town with bitching and (dare I say it?) bullying the member in question into submission.

It is not funny! it is cruel.

So what if someone has put up a double post! so what if someone says something that you do not agree with. If you feel that it is wrong say it in an intelligent manner and don't rip someone to shreds!

This is an online forum for fans of Adywan and his amazing edits. Lets keep our bitchy comments to ourselves and stop this bullying and bitching nonsense.

It detracts from why we are really here.

i didn't take it as offensive. thx for standing up for me though. besides, i've been bullied here before and prolly won't be the last time. i can get over it. and the double post, i pressed edit because i hadn't finished and acidently hit the post button. i guess it posted both anyways.

Grievous was pretty much wasted, I thought.

There seems to be no logical explanation for Yoda and Chewie knowing eachother...

But they should have had Palpatine act a bit more mature.

After he struck Yoda down at the beginning of their battle, he stood there as if he was laughing like some bratty little kid. I now laugh at that scene because it looks so screwed up.

The portrayal of Palpatine from his showdown with Windu onwards was awful. Overdone painfully. The Emperor in ROTJ was over the top, but in a way that worked. ROTS's equivalent didn't work. Painful hamming, awful makeup, ruined character. He was so fucking annoying too. The Yoda-Palpatine fight scene was thoroughly lame all around. And it was shown simultaneously with the awful Mustafar showdown, so we got a double dose of awfulness. Complete with extra-pompous music. Terrible filmmaking. So much work was put into that Mustafar scene and it was built up so big and it was totally uninvolving bullcrap. The worst part was probably Anakin ranting, which came of like a pissed off two-year-old trying to do Bad.

The Emperor was poorly acted in ROTJ. Conversely, his lines in ROTS were god awful. I'd argue that he didn't "work" completely in either movie.

he was better in ROTS. though i didn't like the smeagle voice he did and the stupid, 'the force is strong in u..." i guess i liked him more in Episodes I and II. better acting.

Well, in that case, Scruffy has a point.  You could just as easily say that ROTJ made no effort to keep the emperor looking or sounding like he did in ESB, and we should therefore hate that, and the change in '04 is therefore justified.  I will argue that the '97 Jabba looks like crap, but there are many more important reasons than special effects continuity that cause me to hate it.

only thing that i liked about that scene is that you see boba fett earlier. its kinda a surprise when u realize that ur not supposed to see him til ESB. on the emperor. those scenes could be easily refilmed and put into replace the current emperor scenes in ROTJ.

on the cameo topic, maybe ady should dub over fetts lines...just add a bizarre take on that closed debate

arm in ANH, voice in ESB, he can make an actual physical appearance in ROTJ.

Ady was in ANH as a Rebel Guard in the final scene.

really?? which one?

 From doubleofive's Picasa gallery:

"Me" is Ady.

The state of Star Wars: Soundly fucked.

But who knows, maybe there's hope. I keep hoping one day the OOT will be out on blu ray and later formats. It's awful that we now have lots of people accepting the pukewell trilogy as a rightful part of the saga and accepting stuff like the animated series as real Star Wars. Star Wars keeps getting abused and abused and abused.

as i had said, refering to your comment on the pukewell trilogy, the newer generation is going to accept it more then

the older generation. i still hear complaints about lucas creating the special editions of the movies. to me, being one

of the more recent generations, i still think the OT is better then the PT. i still accept them though as part of the

saga. and the special editions of the OT were one of the smartest ideas lucas had.

The newer generation isn't going to give a damn about the PT in a decade or two, while the older generation (and some younger people) will still give a damn about the OT.

As for calling the SE a smart idea, yeah right, like shitting on great art is a smart idea.

i'll try that sometime and maybe i'll make some money out of it. i'll send you a copy then and you can have a

shitty piece of art in your house. btw, thx c3px. i've always liked watching the PT and then the OT to try and

make the comparissons. its fun to do. the only thing i didn't like about the special editions george did was the

redone jabba on the 2004 dvd versions. the original VHS looked more like Jabba the Hutt. still, it blows me

away to watch the OOT and then the SEOT and see the differences. kinda cool to see what those back in

1977 saw.

The only time trailers have music from elsewhere in them is the early ones before the film has a proper score to pull music from.  The music is as much a part of SW as any other element.  It wouldn't feel right to change it.

Your first statement is simply not true.  Countless final trailers feature music from different sources and not the movie directly.  There are even composers/companies out there who create scores just for trailers (ParodiFair, for example, though I'm unsure if they're still in the business).  The music of Star Wars is epic and is instantly recognizable as Star Wars in any context.  It just isn't an absolute necessity in EVERY modern Star Wars trailer.  Look at the trailers made for the defunct Star Wars: Reborn trilogy.  Not Star Wars, but very effective.

I'm thinking more along the lines of some obscure instrumental metal tracks, not a piece taken from another movie's score.  Hell, even a track culled from classical music would be nice.  Just not something easily recognizable, or beaten to death ("Carmina Burana" anyone? - I could live a long, healthy life without hearing that in a trailer ever again.)  Most of the epic Star Wars cues have already been use ad nauseam in the trailers already out there.

Obscurity is the key.  You cannot plunk down a Star Trek track or any other instantly recognizable track in the background of a Star Wars trailer.  That wouldn't sound right.  Something less known is needed to make the whole two minutes gel.

Ah, the hell with it.  I need to learn some video editing and I could show you what I mean.  Now to learn how to edit, that's the real trick, isn't it? :)

All right. As long as it's not "Requiem on a Dream" ugh....

like the music, bad for the trailer. i'd like to hear a duel of the fates or battle of heros for the jedi trailer. that'd be

cool. i remember how cool it was to see the SE trailer for the OT. that's when i first saw it and fell in love with the

saga. then i bought the OT without realizing the special effects were missing. still, seeing that and the special

editions was a great way to see improvement.

I would love to see Adywan post a clip of this scene, from the fly thru the city to until they leave the falcon and approach Lando. Even if it is an unfinished version.

i probably won't be posting any more clips for a while. If i post too many then there will be no surprises left for the finished version.

Just don't give away the ending!!

Can you guys imagine being one of the majority of Star Wars fans out there that have no clue about these Revisited edits? That would be so sad, especially after seeing all of this amazing new stuff! Those Empire menus are pretty sweet. Ady, you rock man!

I'm surprised that the news of this hasn't got out. This is the biggest breakthrough in fan-editing since "The Phantom Edit". That was widely covered, I don't see why Revisited hasn't been picked up by major news outlets.

i wouldn't be surprised if george lucas already knew of this. i'm sure as the creator of star wars he keeps tabs on this stuff. he prolly doesn't care as long as the same story is being told. but if word got out, adywan may get in trouble and those who've downloaded any revisited versions of the films.

Well folks, where is SW right about now?

We've had the Clone Wars animated movie, which I won't be seeing. There's an impossible to keep track of number of books available, most of which seem to be dreadfully uninteresting. There's the TV show - I don't know if it's on the air, and if it is, I don't know which channel has it. There has been some talk of a 3D presentation and I don't know what the latest news is on that front. I've heard nothing about a Blu-Ray set and I'm not enthused about the idea unless, of course, it's a state of the art Blu-Ray release of the OUT. What's more, I haven't watched the GOUT - or any SW - in so long I can't even remember.

I guess by definition I'm more or less done with SW. That's a little sad to me. But it's hard for me to generate enthusiasm for the brand these days. If not for discussions here about OT plot points and the shortcomings of post-1998 SW releases (which are, understandably, fewer and further between), I don't think I'd be talking about SW at all, anywhere.

What is your state of SW?

My state of SW is the same as yours.

I have not watched OOT in two years.

The drive is just gone and I also feel that I'm more or less done with SW.

The fun in SW is gone and I have try not to let the SE, Prequels, EU, the over releases, GOUT and the new CW cartoon effect me, but they have.

For me Lucas actions from 1997 to today has drained the fun out of SW.

If Lucas came out with a remastered OOT DVDs, some of the drive may come back, but not all of it.

My like for Lucas is dead and will never come back.

The Relationship Lucas has with the SW fans is an Abusive Relationship filled with Lucas withholding, lies, Emotional abuse, power plays and control games. The thing is that a person can only be Abusive to another for so long before the another will walk away forever.  Lucas has abused OOT fans and some SW Fans for too long and I think people are starting to walk away.

ouch! that hurts! u know, the people who walk away will be the older generations, while the new generation

will keep on going, because wat they see now is wat they're used to and prolly think the PT and all its

ailments is better then the OOT.

Ady: I take it you are considering using the EMPIRE menu scene (or scenes) with your Revisited version (such as the MF approaching Cloud City, etc)?

I know this has been posted before, but here you go (again, maybe?)!:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etaA9xWsjbU

If there is a way to incorporate all of these clips, be it Cloud City, Dagobah or Hoth (minus the parts with the actual menus, naturally) that would be pretty spectacular!   I also hear that there is an asteroid chase menu screen as well?  I'm wondering if someone could post all of those different menu screens?

I also take it that the "big huge building" on the right rear of the MF is getting removed?  In fact, you could probably remove the BHB as well as the light beige one also behind the MFs center/right (the one that is kind of poking above the MFs engines).  Could just add in a shorter building and more sky to keep theth focus on the Falcon, not to mention the MF model kind of blends in with that background building.

the asteroid chase menue is a scene selection. i'm sure ady can slow the dagobah menue down and shuffle things around. look wat he's done already. not a problem for him.

I'm going to make another bold suggestion:

COMPLETELY REMOVE ANY mention of Leia and Luke being related.  It was ONLY added in to try and "top" the Luke/Vader reveal in ESB, and just screwed up the way things had been going up to that point.  It just smacks of being thrown in at the last minute.

I know no one will agree with me, but that's my opinion.

that's hard to get rid of now that for over 24 yrs we've been use to leia being luke's sister. it would make a lot of missing pieces if that happened.
