^ That’s very cool, Possessed!
On a Zelda related note, I recently said that the music in BOTW is good, but it’s not one of my favorite Zelda soundtracks. This has changed. It’s not the best one, but it’s certainly among them! The music in Rito Village… Perfection! And all the little themes throughout are so great and memorable.
The music is handled in a new way for the series, not just in style and instrumentation, but also the way the music is implemented. The little bits of melody that play while you’re exploring are great. I love the way musical callbacks are intertwined with new melodies.

Warb is back!
& That’s Good!

I’m glad to see you back so quickly, Warb and I hope you’ll stay.
This place wouldn’t be the same without you. As Jason said, you’re a valuable member of our community here.
I realize that your feelings have been hurt, but I really believe that everybody involved is truly sorry for the way things ended up.

I’m sure we can all move on from this.

And now…

I will not tolerate people complaining about Muppets in Jabba’s Palace. Muppets are awesome.

End of line.

Agreed Muppets beat cgi hands down

Why does CGI keep coming up?
Most of the background creatures in Jabba’s look terrible. It’s just a fact.
-THIS DOES NOT MEAN I WANT THEM REPLACED BY CGI CARTOONS-
They aren’t terrible because they’re muppets, they’re terrible because they’re terrible muppets.
I’ve got total faith that Ady will work his magic.

The Ultimate Hunter is the waxy one. I didn’t even know there was a 3D release, so the ‘good one’ is the standard.
There was fuss over the standard version not looking ‘hi-def enough’ and that’s what created the super DNRed Ultimate Hunter edition. The standard isn’t much better than the DVD.
So, really, they’re all ugly mothers.

JEDIT- just googled ‘Predator 3D bluray’ for a little info, and this is the first thing I saw, before even clicking the blu-ray.com link:

Predator 3D Blu-ray features poor video and great audio

So I’d stick with the standard.

Haha! Awesome! Now I need to get me hands on those njvc BD’s and I’ll be set!

The Blu-ray ISO’s made by NJVC are fantastic. For now they’re the only way I watch the original trilogy.

I love the extras, but, oof, those menus…

What’s wrong with the menus? You might need to see a doctor.

I think the chapter and audio option menus are great.
The main menus for SW and ESB use odd choices for images and just don’t look very good. ROTJ uses a blurry, stretched pic of the Jedi logo. It looks ugly and doesn’t match the others.
Just personal preference. No big deal.

Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist
Time

I’m really starting to doubt that any sense can be made out of the rescue… There’s no foundation to any solid plan in the movie and to fix this we would need additional dialog and probably additional footage. I don’t think rearranging scenes would be nearly enough.

JEDIT- Some keep referring to “THE PLAN”, but the problem is that there is no plan.
It’s just a series of scenes where our heroes enter the palace and then are captured. Then, Luke gets his green baseball bat and smacks everybody off the boat while acting like that was his big idea all along. And maybe it was!

Great post, nhoj.
You’ve got several good points here, but this is something that isn’t brought up often and should not be overlooked:

nhoj3 said:

While Threepio is certainly a worrywart, that personality trait has become a caricature in ROTJ. In ANH, Threepio successfully bluffed past Stormtroopers on the Death Star and was decisive in choosing when to leave hiding and try to board the Falcon. In ROTJ the caricature version of Threepio has been left out of the plan and (because of his ignorance) could easily work against it at any moment.

This shift from characters to caricatures infects many characters and aspects of ROTJ and is something every ROTJ fanedit should fight against.

Fun fact: I watched the pilot for Enterprise for the first time right before watching Discovery.

Both pilots left me with much the same feeling.

I love Enterprise. All of the senior staff are great. Archer, T’Pol, Trip, Reed, Hoshi, and Travis. They all are interesting characters in their own right. And Scott Bakula is a fantastic actor.

The main problem Enterprise has is actually addressed by Archer himself—they keep getting drawn in to the temporal cold war so much that Archer has to straight up tell Daniels to knock it off.

I haven’t seen more than the pilot for Enterprise, but save from the song choices it wasn’t bad. The actors are decent, but I’ve no desire to see the rest of the show. Same with Discovery. I enjoy Michelle Yeoh but the crew interaction doesn’t endear me to them at all.

You could just skip to season 3 and 4. 😉

What is wrong with the first two seasons?

4 is where they really hit their stride and become the TOS prequel it should have been.

Wait, TNG is a prequel to TOS?
I didn’t know that.

JEDIT- why is it called ‘The Next Generation’ then? That’s confusing.

I’ve mentioned this before, but the only letdown in BOTW so far is Zelda herself.
In BOTW she’s just dull and boring.

I couldn’t disagree more.

Care to elaborate? Her voice puts me to sleep. She speaks so slowly and the vocal delivery is so flat. Her dialog is stiff.
In Skyward Sword she was so full of life and character. Sad to see that kind of characterization go this time around.
But, it’s a small gripe and hardly a knock against BOTW. I’m truly loving this game.

Warb was a good forum member.

It’s a temp ban. He isn’t barred from the club.
And I think some time to cool down could do him some good. He seemed so upset that he could no longer understand what people were even trying to say and started jumping to ridiculous conclusions that nobody was bringing up.

Come back when ya can, Warb. Till then, you’ll be missed.

4K restoration on Star Wars

Most movies since then have been lousy conversions. It’s a pity the good stuff from the 50’s isn’t revived around Halloween so modern audiences can see what a good 3D film is actually like. Not like they have to make prints anymore.

Totally agree! I’ve brought this up before and most people seem to think that those films only exploited corny tricks like something sticking out towards the lens every once in awhile. It also seems that most people don’t think movies got good until the late 70’s…
I did think the 3D in Prometheus was done very well. Again, shame about the movie itself.

Anybody play Empire on the NES? Luke Kills Boba Fett by destroying Slave1 during a dogfight with his X-Wing. Somehow Han doesn’t die in the explosion, but is saved. Vader pulls a gun on you. You kill Vader and save the world.
After the first game followed the movie so well, I’ve always been confused by these changes.
Oh yeah, and it’s Harder. Than. Hell. Many “bosses” have a spot where you can hide and shoot without taking damage, but it can take up to 10 minuets of standing there shooting to defeat em…

Are The Prequels That Bad?
Time

suspiciouscoffee said:

The prequels commit perhaps the worst sin a movie can commit: being boring. I can forgive a lot in a movie if it’s even just a little bit interesting or engaging, but the prequels* are just dull.

*It’s been years since I’ve tried to watch RotS, but I doubt it’s much better.

Yes.
And ROTS is probably the worst of the bunch. It has to adhere to all the shit from the previous two movies and then try to cram in all the story we all thought we were getting over the course of a trilogy into one final movie. The designs are even less impressive than the previous two and the cheese is cranked to 11.
I haven’t watched any of the PT in over a decade and I ain’t goin’ back in to see if it’s aged like wine.
