How did you originally find this site?
Time

In 2008, a friend of mine, who is mostly a lurker here, invited me over to see a movie. It was Star Wars Revisited. I’d never heard of it, knew little about what people were up to with fan edits, and was totally blown away. My friend pointed me here to read about it and to follow ESB:R and preservation projects.
I found people I liked, many interesting projects and many things to laugh about, so I stuck around.

I’m gonna pitch a project to you.
It was written by Michael Crichton. Are you interested? Yes, damn right you’re interested.
The screen play was written by John Patrick Shanley, who won an academy award for Moonstruck. Are you interested? Hell yes you’re interested! But wait!-
We also got Anne Coates who was the editor on Lawrence of Arabia, it’s being produced by Speilberg’s producers and it’s being photographed by Allen Daviau who shot Close Encounters and E.T., are ya interested?
YOU JUST MADE CONGO!!

I remember I was on somebody’s ignore list after only making like two posts. Then I learned that this user had practically the entire forum on ignore. Anybody remember this person? I can’t recall the name…

JediTemple34, IIRC.

Han - Solo Movie ** Spoilers **
Time

Something that hit me today is this whole movie is essentially a giant “Han shot last”. Everyone freaked out at changing Han in ANH from shooting first because it changed his character from a ruthless scoundrel selfish smuggler who has no problem killing who made friends and turned out to be a hero in the end to somebody who was “always good” and would never shoot first, or at least without provocation. This movie will unavoidably portray Han in a heroic light (because that’s what Star Wars is) which completely undermines his OT arc worse than shooting last did in the SE.

I had similar reservations at first, but I really don’t buy that Han was a horrible person pre-OT anyway.
Law breaker? Yeah.
Drug smuggler? Yeah.
Arrogant? Yeah.
Kill rather than be killed? Yeah.
“No problem with killing”? No, he’s not a murderer and I don’t believe he’s the kinda guy who kills without reason.
I have friends who fit this description. And while they aren’t involved in shootouts on the reg, I assure you they (and me) would rather shoot than be shot and wouldn’t wait for the gun pointed at them to go off before pulling the trigger. (again, it’s not a situation we find ourselves in, but I don’t have to wonder what would happen.)

Even with all that said, I just doubt anybody could play the character and make me believe it’s Han. He’s my favorite character to ever appear in anything. If not for Han, I’d never have gotten into StarWars. I’m willing to give it a chance though.

Return of the Jedi- …sidestepping… Han Solo and Lando’s redemption arc

Why would Lando, the guy who saved an entire city and his friends (woulda’ saved Han on the spot if not for a certain wookie and lady) need a “redemption arc”?
It’s a personal peeve that this is so misread by audiences.

I guess I am misreading it then; I suppose even as a kid, it always played to me like he sold them out to Vader. I do see your point though.

Vader keeps changing the deal, remember. Lando sold Luke out. No doubt. But it was to save a city, his friend and his friends friends. He did the right thing.
Then, even after Vader changes all the details, Lando saves everybody’s ass. A true hero!

Things that you would like to see in Star Wars that have not happened

Yoda is every bit as strict about the Dark Side in the OT as the Jedi were in the PT.

No. (Dom’s covering that so I’ll let it be)

Anyway, I’d like to see archaeology in a Star Wars movie.

I’d like to see actual space pirates doing space pirate things.

I’d like to see a Star Wars ghost story.

Yes!

I mean seriously, who in their right minds thinks the “dark side” are the good guys?

That’s the corruption. It clouds you to the point you no longer believe your doing or saying the wrong things. That’s why the idea of darkside good guys doesn’t work. Like I said earlier, you don’t play the darkside, it plays you.

The idea that attachment leads to the dark side makes sense

Not at all.
