Don't remember if this has been addressed already and bla bla bla.

Opening crawl reads:

"Evading the dreaded Imperial Starfleet, a group of freedom fighters led by Luke Skywalker has established a new secret base on the remote ice world of Hoth."

But we never see him lead now do we? Sure, he's commanding Rogue Group during the Battle of Hoth - but that's on a mere tactical level.

Furthermore, while the Rebels regroup, he leaves for Dagobah on a strict personal errand for who knows how long. This is surely not the actions of someone who is part of strategic command.

Now, the one who's actually operating within the Rebel command center making strategic decisions (along with General Rieekan) is in fact Leia Organa. She's also the one giving the pre-battle briefing as well as the last post-battle orders. And contrary to Luke, her being separated from the Rebels regroup is not by personal choice.

Thus, the crawl should read:

"Evading the dreaded Imperial Starfleet, a group of freedom fighters led by Leia Organa has established a new secret base on the remote ice world of Hoth."

BUT, since the following passage reads: "The evil lord Darth Vader, obsessed with finding young Skywalker", we have to establish Luke's name somewhere in the crawl:

"Although the Death Star has been destroyed by Luke Skywalker, Imperial troops have driven" etc etc, and Bob's your uncle.

Just a thought and bla bla bla ;-)

I'm totally with this. The "Led by Luke Skywalker" line has always bothered me. Putting Leia Organa  in would work much better. As for "Darth Vader, obsessed with finding young Skywalker..." the word "young" could be replaced with "Luke".

Also, I heard there was a doobie gettin' passed around and I'm waitin' my turn. That's what's keepin' me here.

Now I have a new reason to stick around. ;-)

Nobody told me there were doobies!  Have I been missing out on the OT.Com smoke circle this entire time?!

Sounds like a good idea for  thread!

A friend who rarely posts here turned me on to this place after conversations about Revisited and the lack of a quality OUT. So I came to lurk around and wait for a good OUT preservation and to follow ESB:R. It didn't take long before I found myself registering- something I've never done at any other SW site. I've lurked around TFN and SW.com and the folks there seemed to like a very different Star Wars than I do. That's no big deal and can actually be very interesting. SW is there for all to take what they want from. But that's where things get ugly... I could tell that unless you subscribe to all 6 flicks and any other "cannon" material you are not welcome. So, no room for me there. Why register to a site where people don't wanna hear your thoughts on it all and have none of their own? Here I found a place that all aspects of the films can be discussed without worrying that a mod is gonna put the kabash on you for not loving AotC. Also, I heard there was a doobie gettin' passed around and I'm waitin' my turn. That's what's keepin' me here.

Also, i think the PT just needs to be left alone. I'm not saying Ady couldn't do an amazing job. But i've watched all six of them in a row and i see no point in touching them.

Well then by all means be happy watching your retail DVDs.

*shaking head*

Maybe he means they are unsalvageable? That's pretty much my stance on 'em.

I think Frink was talking about a thread where little bits of random trivia can be discussed.

Lots of separate threads such as "Do Dugs Have Christmas Stockings Or Mittens?" wouldn't last long but in the context of a Random Star Wars thread they could pop up, be answered and then another random thought could keep pass the baton on.

It not discouraging at all as far as I can make out.

This.

Yeah, Ok. Another shot of cold medicine and it all seems fine...

Except for the fact that I feel like a pig shat in my skull!

MrP you sure are making a lot of threads...perhaps we need a "Random Star Wars Thoughts" thread?

This part of the forum is called "General Star Wars Discussion", right? So what's wrong with starting new threads discussing things that don't already have a thread going?

Maybe it's the sickness and cold medicine, but it seems to me that discouraging people from starting new threads on new topics defeats the point of a general discussion forum.

And let's be honest.  Lucas isn't going to please all of the fans because there are billions and billions of fans, and Lucas it too busy running his own business to get to know what each one of them wants.

Lucas is too busy to know what the fans want? That's total crap! It's not like he's constantly getting harassed by a billion fans who each want something totally different. If he would just make HD prints of the original films as available as the SE's, there would be no problem.

I mean, it's practically standard that the original be released with the new versions on DVD/BR (blade runner, alien, aliens, ect ect). Lucas is the only film maker I can think if who is suppressing the original versions.

I'm pretty sure the new line was recorded specifically for the SE. Just like Boba Fett's new voice and the new Emporer Hologram scene. If you compare Vader's voice to how he sounds in RotS, it's a match.

But "Alert My...." was done for the '97 edition, not the '04. It would have been easy to get the Jango Fett guy to record some lines for the '04 while he was around, but to fly in Jones for one line? Nah.

As for "Bring My Shuttle", im sure someone can accommodate you. It's more of a growl, and probably one of my favorite Vader lines. Welcome to the boards!

It's the best delivery in the entire trilogy! So angry, dark and too the point.

And welcome to the boards, EvixVortana!
