Where The Socks Have No Shame by You_Too
Where The Socks Have No Shame by You_Too
I grew up hating Star Trek. All I knew of it was The Motion Picture, which is one of the most boring films I've ever seen, and The Next Generation, which is full of pseudo-drama, techno-babble and very dull and dry characters. But, for whatever reason, I've been watching the original series on Netflix... And I love it!
However, I'm guessing someone has pulled a George Lucas on it as many shots of the Enterprise look very CGI. Am I wrong? Some shots really stand out as being 'new'. I like this stuff enough to invest in some DVDs or BDs, but I wanna see it the way it was originally broadcast. Is that available?

Crisis was totally uneccesary in my opinion. I would have preferred an outright reboot.
Well, DC has done that too, so... I think Crisis was interesting. Especially in it's time. I'm more a Marvel guy so DC's weird spins on continuity and such don't bother me.

I've been out comic collecting circles for a long time, but I never heard Crisis regarded as crap.
Because it's not. Kids these days, eh?
^Yeah, it really needs to be watched in context I guess. I watched when it was new and I thought it was really funny. Especially the bit with Carrie.

Barbie wears unremovable underwear these days.
I sense an uncomfortable amount of frustration in this post... ; )

Really?
Not really. AntcuFaalb already covered my fears. So I wanted to say something different. This isn't a fear so much as a dreaded inevitability. Of course, I'm operating in optimist mode because I do believe this will be good. I suppose on the other hand if it's bad the fans that love it anyway would annoy me just as much.
Yeah, it's gonna happen no matter what. Hatters gonna hate, lovers gonna love.
I don't really have any "fears" toward the ST. Doesn't matter to me if it's good or bad anymore than I care if the next EU novel is good or bad. If it is good, then great! if it's not, it won't make me like the original any less.

And honestly, if I were to see you with it, I would be offended.
That's hilarious.

^It's only funny when the apologys roll out. But, man, it does get funny!

...Not that that's a "Star Wars" thought.... but it is random
It's neither Star Wars or random.
Obi-Wan supposedly screaming like a dragon makes NO sense.. Surely the Tuskens know what the beast is supposed to look like and surely they can tell the difference between a large dragon and an old man in a hooded robe waving his arms around. I mean, they all turn and SEE HIM COMING! They run because they know who he is and what he is capable of. That's why "they'll soon be back and in greater numbers."

don't worry, he just posted a link to the scene in Episode three about him.
That's what I'm afraid of...

Always wondered what the cancelled Return of the Jedi for the NES would have been like.
Did you play Empire? I always wondered how they would handle Jedi after they changed so much for Empire (you kill Boba Fett, save Han and defeat Darth Vader. He jumps from the platform instead of Luke!!)
Star Wars on the NES is a great game. It's hard to imagine how the ball was dropped so badly for Empire. Empire on the NES is a terrible game in all aspects.

As a kid I thought the Krayt Dragon call was a sand person sounding a horn or crying out because Obi-Wan had appeared.
Same. And I'll always see it that way.

WHY MUST THERE BE DISCUSSIONS LIKE THIS!? IF YOU LIKE SOMETHING, ACCEPT IT AS FACT!!! IF YOU DON'T, THEN FORGET ABOUT IT!! WHY IS THAT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND!!!!
Because it can be interesting to hear other peoples views. And stop screaming. We can all hear you, this place isn't that big.
^great post Mrebo! I agree all the way. Allowing someone else to define your fictional world seems crazy. Even if that person is the creator of said fictional world, it's been put out there for your entertainment and one should be able to use their own imagination to expand the world for themselves- picking and choosing what official product to accept or ignore.

The word "Sith" is far from a prequelism
Truth. The term isn't mentioned in the '77 film, but I believe it was in the script and it was used in the '77 propaganda.
^Wow! Much more resemblance than I first imagined!
And, to stay on topic, "human skulls for sale".

I can't speak for Abrams but after what Disney did to Power Rangers, shortly before Saban saved it, I wouldn't put it past Disney to embrace prequelisms.darklordoftech said:
In addition to that, "Sith" is largely a prequelism, so Disney and Abrams might want to avoid it.![]()
I can't wait for "padawans" and midi-chlorians.
A personal curiosity: what (if anything) will the Jedi robe be in the ST?
I'd guess they would look more like Luke in ROTJ... which is also what I figured they'd look like in TPM, so I'm probably dead wrong. I just hope they stop dressing like the farmers on Tatooine.
Star Wars 1977 is my cannon. All else if iffy.
