Phobias That wreck your enjoyment of Films, Television and Video Games.
Time

I have a crazy fear of snakes, but it's never hurt my enjoyment of a film. Mainly because I love horror and scary things and the only truly scary thing is a snake! Though I can't think of one 'snake movie' that's actually scary, I love watching things about snakes on Animal Planet and the like. Freaks me right out! my biggest fear is a snake in the toilet when I have to go in the middle of the night. Actually, anytime I sit on a toilet I have that thought in my head. Anytime, every time! So while my phobia doesn't ruin my enjoyment of films, it wrecks my bathroom time.

At least you watched one good one! Shaun Of The Dead is one of my favorite films. I didn't bother with WWZ, but I did see Zombieland and it was beyond stupid.

Say wha.....source please?

Toho is distributing in Japan. They put an official website for the film up in December along with an alternate trailer with footage not seen in the U.S. version. You can easily scan the net for more info.

That's pretty funny. I'm not too worried about 'Zilla '98 having any influence on Godzilla 2014 though. There's been 6 Godzilla films made since that one and 5 of 'em are really good. Besides, Gareth Edwards has proven to be an actual Godzilla fan, not just someone who sees a money-making opportunity and TOHO is accepting this one as cannon, which gives me much faith.

I'm thinking about doing a fan-edit (is it still considered a fan edit if the editor isn't a fan of the film?) of 'Zilla '98 which would mainly consist of changing the title card to read "The BEAST From 20,000 Fathoms!" and removing any mention of the monsters name. It wouldn't make it a better film, but it would make it less insulting.

Spider-man Movies
Time

I love Spider-Man 2! It's the best superhero movie if ya ask me. 3 was like a punch to the gut. Though I thought Sandman was very well done, the rest was garbage. Very sad indeed. I know Rami didn't want to do Venom. He wanted to focus on Stan lee and Steve Ditko characters. Another film ruined by studio intrusion.

Spidey is my favorite superhero. Has been since I was small.

Do you think Disney will release the unaltered versions for DVD and blue ray?

Like marijuana, everybody loves the Original Trilogy and wants it

LOL. Speak for yourself.

Are you saying you don't believe marijuana loves the OT and wants it? Because I can tell you, deepanddark20 is right. Marijuana wants a quality release of the OOT on BD just as much as the biggest purist on this board.

The black plague and the holocaust, just to name two, would like a word with you.

But Duracell didn't have to live through that, so how could all those horrible deaths and atrocities be worse than living in a world where you can simply choose not to watch Michael Bay type films or listen Lil' Wayne type music but instead choose to turn your attention to all of the wonderful artists at work today? IT'S HORRIBLE!!!

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread
Time

Growing up, I always thought We'd find out in the PT that Obi-Wan Kenobi's real name was Ben Lars and that he and Owen are brothers. That Obi-Wan was Ben's Jedi name or some such thing. When the character Qui-Gon Jinn was announced, I was sure my hunch was correct. Qui-Gon sounds like Obi-Wan, so I figured that, again, it was just a 'Jedi name', not his real name.

I was wrong, it didn't turn out that way.

But it should have.

I can understand people not wanting to give homosexual acts a spin but to object to other people doing it or to compare it to something medically proven to be harmful like smoking?

Really?

I'm guessing you're referring to my comment trying to understand the "hate the sin love the sinner" thing. I didn't compare smoking to homosexuality. I compared something I don't support with something they don't support. And the analogy didn't work. Which was my point originally, but got sidetracked.

Boba Fett Spin-Off May Put a New Character in the Armor

for the life of me I cannot, nor have I ever been able to, figure out the attraction to this character. Cool looking when he isn't speaking, mysterious, and plays a somewhat minor role in the second film. Yet people by the millions lose their mind over the character. Not sure what I've been missing for thirty years, but I don't get the worship, even remotely.

Like Silverwook said, I think it's that, for the most part, he's a blank slate the viewer can draw on with their own imagination. I think he works great in ESB, but I don't wanna know* any more about him.

I'm sure Temuera Morrison is a good actor...

I watched him act in AOTC back in 2002 and I'm convinced. ; )

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**

luke, han, leia seem to be center stage for episode VII in the new script by abrams, and i am thrilled. f**k the haters on this one.

I almost think they have to approach the ST this way to get back all of the OT fans who were burned by the PT.

I can only speak for my friends (I hate generalizing), but I was suprised at how many of them just didn't give a shit about the ST when I mentioned they were going to make it. They hated the PT so much, they are EXPECTING the ST to suck, and that is why they haven't got really hyped.

Now where things will change is when they see that first Episode 7 trailer with Luke, Leia and Han, and I think they will be curious enough to see the movie now.

I'm in the same group your friends are in, CO. The only promising thing about Ep.7 that we know at this point is the inclusion of the 'big 3'. That has me curious enough to go see it, but I have zero expectations of it being anything I'll enjoy.

And I agree with what you said about the folks behind the film needing to focus on the original characters in order to cleanse the awful taste of the PT. I don't know anybody who would even go see it if they weren't involved. And, even with that, most of the people I know won't be seeing it anyway.

Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie (1996) - 7/10

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!!??!?!?!?!?!?

It's shorter than a normal episode, with less jokes so the audience could laugh and not miss a joke. I can see rating it like that.

Since when is 7 out of 10 a low score? I know some here feel that certain films warrant a perfect score, but a 7 is a pretty high score for me. I wouldn't rate most films I've seen above a 6.

Also, MST3K sucks. There are a handful of movies streaming on Netflix that I'd love to revisit, but I don't need three silhouettes telling me how goofy these obviously cheesy films are. I wish there was an option to turn them off and just enjoy Gamera for what it is.
