Ranking the Star Wars films
Time

I got way more laughs and enjoyment outta the HS than I did the PT.
Serious.
I’d rather watch something that’s supposed to be goofy and dumb rather than something that’s trying to be epic and is accidentally goofy and dumb.*
I can take the HS for the junk it is and boggle at what was going on behind the scenes. Everything surrounding the PT is so cynical that it’s just no fun no matter how you look at it.

*that’s really not true. Plan 9 From Outer Space is one of my favorite films.

Good or bad, it does count as an installment in the franchise. So does Legendaryzilla, for that matter.

I believe it is referenced in a later movie.

Yeah. In Godzilla 2000 the monster from Tri-Stars 'Zilla is written off as another monster, mistaken for Godzilla. And in Final Wars the real Godzilla toasts the Tri-Star 'Zilla.

The thing is, if it was done right, you could still have Anikin fall and Vader appear in the PT without ruining ESB’s reveal. And if you were watching the films for the first time, ESB’s reveal would make you realize what really happened in the PT, making both moments even stronger.
The PT should seem to line up with what Ben tells Luke in Star Wars. That Vader murdered Anikin.

I scoff at the notion that Jabba the Hutt would be immune to Jedi mind tricks

Obi-Wan said that mind tricks only worked on the weak minded.

Did Jabba the Hutt seem particularly strong-minded to you? He was a stupid ogre.

I got no idea where you’re getting that from. But it’s wrong.
