Red or green?! So I shrunk the bodies some more and added a little murkiness to the water to help cover. I also made each face slightly different.

Palpatine Clones - Red
Palpatine Clones - Green

EDIT: I extended the clips to show the entire scene for context, specifically for the red. The original scene had both red and green vats, so I kept that, and just changed the large main vats to red. Switching everything to red would mess with the coloring/reflection/lighting too much.

a cartoonishly large schlong.

🤔 Now that’s an idea!

Much better, only thing I see that could be nitpicked is his size, mainly the broad shoulders.
Definitely digging the red though.

Yeah, that’s a tough one. The shoulders are tricky, but will take another look when I can!

Can I just go on record as saying that my god, Poppasketti, you certainly do not get enough credit! You are honestly one of the most talented VFX people I know!

Thank you, that’s very kind! But I think there are many at OT.com and in this thread that demonstrate at least as much talent. It’s what’s so fun about being here!

Poppasketti, how did you put that together particularly the voice itself?

So I tried to follow an online tutorial, but it only got me so far, and I had to layer more on top of it. First, I recorded my voice with a Yeti Pro and applied the effects, which I’ll list below. Then, I had to supplement some sounds from Kylo’s actual dialogue (Y’s R’s and T’s) to fill it in. I also duplicated my voice clip and cranked the gain way up to try to create some clipping distortion as well, and then turned the levels on that clip way down to balance.

Here’s some specifics on the effects, though I’m not sure how well this would work as a template:

You can use Adobe Audition and even Premiere, which has Audition’s filters. My effects stack is as follows top-to bottom:
Note: first I would gain the audio up so it’s clipping or almost clipping.

  1. Pitch Shifter (set to -2 semitones for my voice)

  2. Distortion (cranked the positive way up; this is the filter you have to play around with the most as it’s very hard to dial in. What helped me the most was keeping the positive smoothing at 0, while the negative smoothing and time smoothing at 30)

  3. GuitarSuite (compressor: 60 / filter: rez / type: lowpass / freq: 2800 / resonance: 85 / Box: Non-Amp Clock Raduio / Mix Amount: 50. Make sure the bypasses are unchecked except for the Distortion Bypass)

  4. Amplify (set to -30, the distortion filter really cranks up the volume and needs to be offset, and if I touch the clip gain it changes the other effects)

  5. Parametric EQ (brighten the sound by bringing the 3000hz and 9000hz frequencies up 5gb)

  6. Studio Reverb (set preset to “Great Hall”, move Dry to 100 and Wet to 50. NOTE: I think it sounds better if this effect is in the audio track mixer and not the clip)

V3 UPDATE!

After finishing the V3 no-Palpatine version, I went back and looked at the Palpatine version and, as often happens when stepping away from a project for a few weeks, I noticed something I wanted to fix.

I still wasn’t happy with the sound mix for the Palpatine Contact scene, so I redid it. I have already uploaded all of the new files with the date “042020”, as well as the lossless audio, AC3, and DTS files for those who’d like to simply remix the audio themselves (the video is unchanged).

This is a relatively minor change, but I definitely recommend it as it’s an adjustment to a key V3 scene. I’m sorry for these post-release tweaks and fixes, as I know many have bandwidth limits and can’t just download new files all of the time.

Thank you everyone for the feedback and support! This project became more elaborate and rewarding than I ever imagined!

Link to my cut of Rey’s vision while training in the forest. In this edit she is Rey Nobody, and she killed her parents: https://youtu.be/cJGP1fDZtWE

This is really well done! It gives Rey some early motivation/intrigue in the film, and it’s also just really well cut together!

Edit: Haven’t seen Don’s version, I’ll have to go back as I must have missed it.

Loving the progress on the force ghosts, and that Anakin morphing work is wild.

  • Some sound clip or soundalike of masked Kylo Ren saying, “You were right” to replace “I never lied to you” before going on to say, “Your parents were no one.”

I tried my hand at recording my own voice and processing it to sound like a helmeted Kylo-Ren to try and tackle this one. Let me know what you think:

Mind|Of|A|Child, PM sent!

Chase Adams, I’m so happy you enjoyed it! Thanks for chiming in and letting me know. Yeah, you’re not the only person who liked Leia Poppins, but it just wasn’t for me.

You might want to also check out Hal 9000’s Legendary edit. These two edits have become hybrids of each other as we keep making updates, and Legendary has the Leia Poppins scene!

I know I haven’t been actively participating right now, but I’m really enjoying reading the ideas you and the others have been coming up with on the TROS threads! Not sure if I want to make my own edit, but anything’s possible. With everything going on in the world right now, I’m sort of caught in this weird spot of feeling like I simultaneously have too much time and too little. So we’ll see!
