I feel like an idiot for asking this but ...
... who is Bill Hunt ? Google and Wikipedia are not very helpful since it appears to be quite a common name
BTW does anybody have the audio commentary to the Director's edition of TMP? I know it was freely available on startrek.com and I'm pretty sure I downloaded it, but I can't find it and it's not online anymore

Also I should mention, and this is no fault of the movie, is that, on this release at least, the Klingon and Vulcan subtitles are player generated and look like crap. Is that across the board on this transfer? I absolutely loathe that. And to make it even worse, I popped in the disc for TWOK, and the Vulcan subtitles there were the original, real subtitles. Why, why, why?!
I will say, as terrible as they look, they're one step above the Star Wars subtitles in that they're at least in the frame of the film rather than in the matte.
Now your last comments are very interesting to the nerdy part of me. I have the theatrical cut on two medias - one grainy old 4:3 VHS tape and the Bluray version. None of these 2 releases have the instrumental intro or the original Klingon & Vulcansubtitles.
Was there ANY release of the theatrical cut which had both the intro and the subtitles ?
I just LOVE the first Trek movie. Yes, it is too slow for a modern audience, but still it's visually impressive. And great to watch when you're stoned :-)
The Director's Cut is however a MUCH better cut, it has much better pacing.
Well that's what I was afraid of :-( But thanks for the links !
Back to Trek - does anybody know the chronological order for all Star Trek TV shows, novels, comic books and movies ?
I found this site : http://thestartrekchronologyproject.blogspot.com . While it's pretty good ( I found only a very few errors ), it covers only the TV shows and movies. I haven't read any book (Star Trek book of course, I did read "other" books of course :-) ) and the only comic books I read were those based on JJ's reboot.
I'd like to read the books and comics but first I'd need to know where on the timeline do they belong.
Yes, I know I'm a nerd :-)
My eyes like what they see :-) Any chance "somebody" will use the settings and create a full DVD ?
What ? The mp4 file downloaded via DownloadHelper is 80.9MB
Firefox addon VideoHelper works without any problems.
The footage is absolutely fascinating, I love the alternate angles !
Before 2006 the only OFFICIAL way how to see the crawl was to buy the 2004 DVD set. A part of the crawl was shown in the documentary Empire of Dreams.
I know I have it on some DVD, so I thought it's the official set, but it can be anywhere, maybe OCP's Deleted Magic ?
Anyway, I DO think it's really from the scene, there is a noticable cut just when the dialogue should appear, and the photo was shot on the very same set
Hey, -1, is anything wrong ?

Regarding the actual 12 minute reel, I hope it contains the deleted portion from Luke and Biggs in Tosche Station where Biggs says, "Third mate Biggs Darklighter at your service," and says he's going to serve on the Rand Ecliptic. I have evidence that this was filmed and not just part of the novelization, and it looks like the officially released version has a pretty obvious cut where that would go.
Yes, the scene was definitely shot. A picture of this scene (where Luke is saluting to Biggs) was released somewhere - the 2004 DVD maybe ?
Great news, Ady !

I have the floorspace, just not going to eat for 6 months. I figure there has to be a way to get it here, I've brought big iron in from japan before.
Who needs eating when you can have Star Wars ? :-)
Alright,
first of all I apologize if this is an incorrect section or if it was discussed before, but I found this clip only today 😃
If you check this youtube sample
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dk4jGC7Vrao
you see at the beginning various clips of the lost Biggs & Luke scenes which we all have already, but then it continues with something I’ve never seen before - some BTS shots. I remember seeing only the clip with Luke & Biggs (actually Mark & Garrick is his name ?) sitting and George nervously walking in front of them, in many documentaries. Have you guys seen the rest ? Is the whole film (at least it looks like 8mm to me) in “our” hands and/or preserved ?
The one I've seen in 1997 had correct colours. My eyes are usually sensitive to this kind of problems and I don't remember nothing wrong with the movie until the heroes arrived to Mos Eisley and I've seen the dinosaurs and fake looking CGI crap.
However the VHS I bought shortly after it had already a notable pink shift
B5 is a great show, the only problem are the incredibly fake looking CGI effects. They looked fake even in the 90's

"No Forget I!", it melts into a nearby stone
You forgot Tribbles :-)
And all the crazy super computers. And the brains from Triskellion. Or the weird creatures from Catspaw. Or all the other puppets

It all boils down to budget. DS9 more than made up for the lack of exotic aliens though. And CGI allowed Voyager to do the truly scary Species 8472.
In retrospect, I'm kind of glad we never saw the Andorians outside the holodeck and a background extra on Risa.
Looks more like the Great Gazoo!
Scary ? Really ? I always thought what the f is this computer game character doing here ?
The regraded prequels sound interesting. Would somebody upload it to a certain spleen ?
Nice work man
Congratulations. I loved the show, it was much better than the prequels
