Totally underselling Ant-man, that was great. There’s something to be said for Thor and First Avenger. AND you’ve completely neglected AOS, Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

Ant-Man was mediocre at best. And I have seen AOS and Daredevil, while Daredevil was great from the get go, I never bothered watching AOS after the first couple of episodes. I’ve heard it got better from there, but if a show doesn’t hook me in, generaly I don’t bother with the rest. Also, First Avenger was bleh, and Thor was bad.

Really? I mean of course none of the movies is “high art”, but “mediocre”, “bleh” or “bad”? I can’t agree, all of the movies were IMHO quite enjoyable, even when each of the movies had problems.

Agants of SHIELD indeed got better. The first episodes were pretty boring, but after they found out they’re working for HYDRA it got much better. I can recommend giving it another try if you will have some free time in the future

I am willing to overlook the Mon Mothma break in continuity.

Why do you see Mon Mothma’s presence on Yavin 4 as a continuity issue? Maybe she gets evacuated to another location for safety when it becomes clear the Death Star is on its way.

Yes. This is sci-fi / fantasy. They will definitely find a nice explanation which won’t be a real problem.

No clue who Darth Zannah, Lumiya or Darh Cogness are, but that’s not my point. I think it’s not a wise “dramatic” decision to have a young female hero in the main movies and AT THE SAME TIME to have a young female hero as the lead character in the spin-off movie. It’s like if every Star Trek show had a young overacting Canadian playing the captain. I just hope her sidekicks won’t be a young black guy and a “cute” non-humanoid droid.

Well my point was that gender doesn’t seem to matter when the character is competent so it doesn’t matter.

I absolutely agree. But that’s not what I was trying to say. Back to the Star Trek example - the TOS captain is an energetic Canadian playing an energetic American, the TNG captain is a middle aged balding Englishman playing a father figure-type Frenchman, DS9 has a black captain who is an ACTUAL father, VOY has a female captain who is a mix between a mother figure and a calm logical scientist (except the episodes when she’s Ripley), and Enterprise has a Kirk rip-off. If you go to Star Wars, the original trilogy’s lead is a young guy and he’s supported buy an “older brother”-type character, a wise old mentor, a princess, an alien and robots. The prequels have even more diversity. But now we get TFA which has a young woman as the main hero followed by Rogue One which has AGAIN a young woman as the main character. They’re just repeating the formula too soon - that’s the only thing which I was trying to say.

Well but that’s the whole problem - the ONLY reason they’re doing it as a E4 prequel is that they want to use pre-existing things well known to the general public. It’s a business decision, not an artistic decision. That’s the whole reason why these spin-off movies do exist.

If it ends up being a good film why would it matter they’re trying to hit our nostalgia g-spot?

I’m not saying it will not be a good film - I hope it WILL be a GREAT film. But I still am not happy they’re “trying to hit our nostalgia g-spot”. That doesn’t say I won’t enjoy it if it will be well written and well acted, that just mean I would prefer something new. Saying that I prefer apples to oranges doesn’t mean I don’t like oranges 😃

So… another female hero? Why? We have a young chick as the lead character in the new trilogy.

She seems to know how to handle herself. I don’t know if you were privy to this information but strong and competent woman are known to be in Star Wars. Leia, Rey, Darth Zannah, Darth Cogness, Asajj Ventress, Lumiya etc.

No clue who Darth Zannah, Lumiya or Darh Cogness are, but that’s not my point. Just in case you didn’t know.

I hate that they simply use the nostalgic factor instead of doing something new. Hey look - the Death Star. AGAIN. Oh look - Star destroyers. I remember those from my childhood. Oh look - the boring woman from Episode 6 - I sort of remember her. I remember all those things, so I guess I have a reason to go see the movie it and buy some toys, sorry, I meant “action figures”, right?

Well…if this is set right before STAR WARS why wouldn’t they have the classic imagery?

But still - they’re successful. They got me exactly as they got everybody else.

It’s a teaser trailer, this is exactly what it’s meant to do.

I know and it was successful - I am 99% sure I will see it in December. I’m just sad that instead of doing something new they’re re-using stuff which they know will bring an audience. It’s pretty lazy.

And BTW I am a minority here but I honestly hope there will be no Vader in this movie or any of the main OT characters

Here’s me being stupid (and still looking for this version of TMP): what is The Spleen? 😕

The spleen (from Greek σπλήν—splḗn[1]) is an organ found in virtually all vertebrates. Similar in structure to a large lymph node, it acts primarily as a blood filter.

The spleen plays important roles in regard to red blood cells (also referred to as erythrocytes) and the immune system.[2] It removes old red blood cells and holds a reserve of blood, which can be valuable in case of hemorrhagic shock, and also recycles iron. As a part of the mononuclear phagocyte system, it metabolizes hemoglobin removed from senescent erythrocytes. The globin portion of hemoglobin is degraded to its constitutive amino acids, and the heme portion is metabolized to bilirubin, which is removed in the liver.[3]

To anybody who has this “release” - Is there a way how to extract the bin files? I have tried both downloading them from myspleen and from a different site, and in both cases I ended up with identical files which can’t be extracted by any software I have

SHOWS
TOS
TNG

Slowly working through those two on Netflix. TNG may surpass TOS if the rest of the seasons are better than S1 like everyone says.

Haven’t watched the rest.

Oh my God! Season One of TNG is a trainwreck! There are 2 or 3 episodes I can watch from time to time but it’s rough. Season 2 is a little better, but it really picks up steam starting with Season 3.

Really? I thought most of the first season episodes were great. Of course, the pilot wasn’t that good, and there are some shitty episodes like Haven, Angel One or Code of Honor, but most of them were pretty good. Season 2 is for me much worse 😃

About damned time! Wonder if there will be any new extras?

If only they could find the voice tracks for the never released Secret of Vulcan Fury game, and make a new animated episode out of it.

The guy who did the new extras for TNG (sorry I’m not good at remembering names) wrote years ago (2013 - 14?) that he has been asked to shoot some new extras for TAS
