***The "Darth Editous" Episode IV DVD Info and Feedback Thread*** - a partially "de-specialed" DVD

Nope. The next version (if there is a next version) might have some colour correction, perhaps going part-way to a colour match with the GOUT - if I can reduce the noise that will be introduced because of the too-deep blacks.

That's exactly the reason why I gave up. The histograms work nice, but the "black noise" is terrible, and if I tried to darken it, it looked better, but obviously I've lost a lot of detail in the dark areas

Hopefully these should help a few people get at those pesky newsgroup thingies.....

We had a convert just the other day looking for the Read Alongs using these very tutorials.

Yes, it would be nice if my provider would have usenet access

5.1 to 2.0 and AC3 in Premiere
Time
I don't understand, why you want to do a downmix, but here's one possible way of doing it :

1) Use BeSweet to split the 5.1 AC3 to 6 mono WAVs.
2) Open any audio editor. Merge the Front right and Surround right into one right chanel, and the front left and surround left into one left chanel.
3)Now add the 0.1 track to both left and right tracks
4) I'm not sure what to do with the centre (or center for amerricans) chanel, but probably you can copy it to both left and right chanels.
5) Use the right and left chanels to do a stereo Wav file
6) Encode the stereo WAV to stereo AC3

That's a THEORY, I'm not sure how would it sound. Also you can in step one use besweet to convert the 5.1 AC3 to a stereo WAV (or AC3) but the results are really poor.

About Premiere - I don't know

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
I always ignore fan edits. ALWAYS. I think about these things the same as Neil S. Bulk, but after reading ALL 50+ pages of this thread I became interested in it and I decided to take a closer look. So I have downloaded yesterday the official trailer and the Vader-OB1 duell (all other links are dead) and I must say - WONDERFULL JOB !

But now the critics - there are two wrong things. The one is the planet before the Death Star in the trailer, it looks completely wrong, I don't know why, but simply it doesn't "feel right" there.

The second - the music during the Vader - Kenobi duel. It's terrible. Not the music, it's great like everything John Williams wrote, BUT ... it doesn't belong to the scene. It completely takes you away from the drama and completely RUINS the emotional balance of the scene. The music has absolutely nothing to do with the scene, it's the same as if you watch a movie, you're concetrating on it and your neighbour suddenly turns on the radio. The same ruining of the scene. When you're watching it, you concentrate on the music, and not on the action which is happening on the screen, and then you suddenly realise that Obi is dead.

The rest of your project looks VERY interesting .... Especially the starfield and the spaceships, MUCH better than the original or the special edition !

Info Wanted: Is anybody capturing Star Trek Remastered ?
Time
JT : Yes, exactly, I agree with everything. I want to have BOTH versions, but I prefer the ORIGINAL version (the same as Star Wars) - I simply like that I can choose which version will I watch.
And tweaker, why do you think I'm pissed ? I'm just seeking information

Secondly, the original model effects look like crap--not just the effects themselves, but the film quality.

Well it sounds like we both were looking at completely different shows, because I think the same about the new version. The CG models look completely fake, too CG. In my oppinion Star Trek didn't need this kind of "improvement' - the original models were great. There are many other things which needed to correct and I'm happy they DID correct it (usually hand-drawn phaser blasts). Also the image quality is terrible, but it is probably because I am watching them as DivX movies, of course the HD version will look better
