Harmy's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition HD - V2.0 - MKV & AVCHD (Released)

I’m wondering, are the galleries that show how Harmy drew on different sources to make Despecialized still available? The pictures.google.com links don’t seem to work for Empire or Star Wars.

I believe this is what you’re looking for which I archived a while back, hope this is it:

NJVC Custom Blu-ray Set of Harmy’s Despecialized Editions now available on Mega

The 25 GB discs have a few less audio track options. Every thing I would be able to tell you is in NJVC’s initial post here.

Yeah, I went back and re-read the first post and you said that right up front *facepalm*

divides the material of the larger discs between two smaller ones and has a few less audio options

Thanks for helping host this set, looking forward to it. I’m getting tired of copying MKV’s to USB every time the kids want to watch the OT : )

It would be cool to have professional "documentary" voiceover, but paying anyone to do it shouldn't be considered.

Harmy said:

Yeah, I don't like that idea either.

Ok, understood. Is this because of $ considerations (i.e. who pays) or because of the principal of keeping it fan-based? (as I can work to take care of the former). Just curios on that point.

I honestly hadn't considered doing any of it myself, but I guess I could submit something as a test too. Potentially could even put out the call for if anyone has that kind of voice to submit a clip and you could take your pick :)

So, I guess female would be ideal but I think pitpawten's voice is also different enough from mine for the difference to be clear enough. What do you guys think?

Female is certainly cool too, only not quite the typical "documentary voice", but that's completely up to you :D

I think at this point I'm curious to hear what the consensus is on this.

Just wanted to make it clear, that is not my voice :) Though I have done some VO work before (including a radio and TV commercial) the clips above are actual pro guys who have the "typical documentary" sound. I was actually suggesting using one of them.

We can work it any one of several ways, just trying to help take the load off on one aspect of this since you've got a lot of things juggling right now :)

Lets see what the gang thinks.

The narration is not me, which you would know, if you bothered to read the last few pages. I think I'll need a woman to do the narration for me, so it's like super-clear, that it's not me talking.

Sorry, been busy this past week and haven't had a chance to followup on a potential re-dub of the narration.

If you are up for it I am happy to look into sourcing and even trying to fund a professional voice-over once the script/timing are all locked down.

Female could be good, as could an "American" English male voiceover

Examples:

http://voicejungle.com/demos/jones_tj_na_13-05.mp3.zip

http://voicejungle.com/demos/john_colonel_na_14-05.mp3.zip

Let me know if you are interested and I'm sure I (we) can take care of the footwork/heavy-lifting on this.

Rock on!

Seriously?

Evidently...maybe some have you on ignore in your own thread o_O

GUYS, lets keep this thread to discussing Harmy's work. Namely his most recent request for input and help from the community:

Guys, can you help me find a few shots, the sound of which would most clearly show sound effects being different in the BD mix over the original mixes (other than the Krayt dragon scream) and then also clips showing music being drowned by sound effects? Thanks!

And

I don't need a long list - I need some shot I could play while the narration says this:

The original Oscar-winning soundmix was redone as well.

[Play a before/after sound clip]

Nar: And in this new mix some of the original Oscar-winning sound effects were replaced.

[Play the krayt dragon yell from the original and the BD]

Nar: And even John Williams’ award winning score suffered, by being drowned by sound effects in some places.

Yeah, looking at the thumbnails on the archive.org site it looks like it was transcoded hastily with a free program as some of them have what looks like the "this is a free version" watermark in the middle of the image!!

This doesn't fit with a misguided fan if you ask me.

Someone legitimately trying to get themselves and others a good copy of this would not go and use a transcoder with a watermark every 5 mins......

 Are you calling shenanigans?

Maybe prematurely but just doesn't sit right

Brand new user only a handful of posts (1,2), all of which are somewhat pointed about the same audio provenance issue.

And then a hastily done recode with watermarks uploaded to youtube of all places?! Just not seeing how anyone could go through that trouble thinking it was all good....especially since they had to go to demonoid or spleen to get it in the first place.....

That's the least of our concerns.

No etiquette, no respect of the rules...

I know I'm not a mod and I should be minding my own beeswax, but this ain't looking right to me.

Hello everyone!

I saw the 11-minute 'making of' on Youtube and found the links for the SW DE on tehparadox.  Seems like I'm only 1 part away from seeing this magic in full form, but my unarchiving software (Mac) is saying that part 81 is corrupt.  The DL link says the file is 91.5MB but the DL file is 96MB.

I know a lot of people have successfully DL'd this movie, so I'm hoping someone has some thoughts on what's gone wrong with my attempt.  Any help would be appreciated!

I've only gotten it via torrent (see here) so not sure about the multi-part archives.

I registered for that before I found the links in tehparadox.  Frankly, I don't really understand how that invite process works.  I've made the request but I don't understand why I need to be invited to a torrent or how the information comes to me if they accept it.  Since you've gotten it that way, would you mind explaining?

PM inbound to keep the thread on topic

You'll be watching soon enough :)

Ignore me if I dont fully understand the current BD menu limitations being discussed.

But could we not have 1 page which lists up to the max number of audio tracks, and then a "more" button to take you to a secondary page which shows again up to the max number of audio tracks etc until all have been covered?

I thought it was a limitation on the graphical menu template with regards to the total number of tracks on a single page rather rather than a technical limitation of how many tracks can be referenced across all pages in the menu.

Again, ignore me if this is not applicable, but thought I'd throw this in after catching up on the thread again.

Lots of interest here, and to think I was trying to see if anyone was interested in these LD's a couple of months ago as I wanted them off of my shelf....not a peep ;)

Good stuff with the capture, thats why I originally got them years back when the first LD rips were going on (thought I'd do my own) but alas, they sat and now Harmy :D

Keep up the good work!
