Star Wars Sound Effects Archive - A collection of SW sounds for use in Fan Edits (* unfinished project *)

Someone should just create a Gmail account utilizing the Google Drive on the account, sharing the login information with content contributors. Cloud-based, sync'd with a folder on your desktop so no risk of hard-drive failure. A text file about folder heirarchy/naming schemes could be shared with contributors who'd then handle organization, eventually being compiled into one large archive. When the archive was mature a public means of distribution could be discussed and agreed upon, something that could be searched for on torrent sites for example.

I did a similiar thing with SW TPM game sounds at the start of last year. I used a free drop box account to store my files and then sent out the links to anybody who wanted them. I have been toying with the isea of putting them together in a torrent for spleen. maybe this should be on another thread, so sorry if this is hijacking Brash.

With the DTS audio available for these theatrical releases it could prove to be quite a nice set of creations for the fans.

Yes, these will be released with 6.1 DTS-MA tracks like the blurays. I may age the audio a bit. I'll probably add some warping, old tube compression, slight clipping from time to time, and some EQ to make the audio match the theatrical sound of ANH. I'll also try to make the audio sound more on-set, as too many times voices sound dubbed.

Hi there, how would you go about this out of interest?

Special Edition 1997 Laserdisc Preservation (* unfinished project *)
Time

I am defiantly interested personally, but standing back for a second I also think its important to preserve this version as well as the original. Ultimately it would be nice to have it in 720 and I know there have been some efforts to re-construct these in better quality than VHS.

I have also always been interested in the idea of making a documentary that chronicles the creation of the '97 versions along with how it went on to be altered further?

A fan made box set with the original, '97, 2004 (purely for archival purposes not enjoyment) 2011 would be nice like the Blade runner set. Also there has been a fan re-construction of the work print which would be an interesting bonus along with maybe the deleted magic, and a documentary chronicling the changes.

Star Wars Trilogy 1997 Special Edition DVDs?

I too prefer the 1997 to theatrical. I think 1997 versions were an honest attempt to improve the original versions. Plus I can't stand Yub-Nub.

The 2004 and 2011 on the other hand, were just an opportunity for Lucas to infest the OT with his PT parasites (Hayden, NOOO etc.).

Although I love the 97 version for its place in history and my memory I must remind with you about the 97 versions being 'honest'. Although the 2004 n 2011 have additional changes and color and sound fuck ups, there was still bad Dino's and a certain green alien who is now quicker on the draw than Clint. lets not even get into the Jabba scene.

Interesting your comment about nub nub, although that's what I grew up with on VHS I have grown to prefer the new ending score (although I fully accept it does not match the images).

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

The thing with Ady's versions is that they're a nice mix between special ed, and preservation.......I think this is why they've struck such a chord with the fans......they do introduce new changes, but even when doing so they stay true to the originals, or the original spirit of the films.

Could not of said it better myself.

Info & Project: Episode 1 TPM game sounds files
Time

So i have finally uploaded the sound files to drop box, except 4 files which kept on saying error. I will re-rip these at some point.

Unfortunately I still have had no joy getting the dialog which some of us vaguely remember being peppered throughout the game.....Maybe these are in the video files but haven't found a program to access them yet.

If anyone here would like the files I have uploaded them please pm me and I will send you the link.

Ill post on here when they are on drop box then anybody who wants the link PM me.

I am going to open a new drop box account and upload the sound files later tonight. Anybody who would like a copy PM me an email address you would like me to send the link too. Also if someone could get back to me about any additional TPM sounds they may have (especially interested in pod racer ones of good quality) then maybe we can use the drop box to store TPM sounds for anyone to access?

I think I am extremely close to doing my own TPM edit!

OK quick update I have finished getting all of the game sound files off TPM game.

It was a bit of a struggle as I was originally using the PS1 disc but with little joy. I remembered I had a copy of the game for the PC and was able to access this a lot better.

I have copy's of 162 sound files BUT.....................these are ONLY the background atmospherics and music cues. I was hoping to extract the dialog samples I remember being in the game(although I must confess to last playing the game 13 years ago).

This is a little disappointing as I was hoping for the dialog to give some possible editorial options.

I think the best thing for me to do is to play the game through to see if its my memory is wrong. If it is then I do apologize but we still have 162 files to help if people want to change the soundtrack at any point and still have the atmospheric sounds.

Anybody with a good memory or recently played the game could you shed some light on these ('missing') sounds?

Additional: The sounds that I do have are for all major environments in the film so replacing the score is possible to give a more OT sound. These files are general background apart from the score ques: I.e. people bustling outside the arena, or water fountains and birds from Naboo and so on...

Does anybody have a collection of good quality pod racer sounds at all?

Okay, if you're just talking prequel games, I have ... Episode I Racer, Starfighter, and Battle For Naboo alongside my TPM game and the Behind The Magic for Episode I.

I haven't tried to pull any audio from any of these discs. I would consider trying it if they have stuff folks might need or want for projects.

Cheers

I think they would defiantly be of help to someone especially any current prequel trilogy edits. Especially any dialog that is not in the films could give us some editorial options.

Interesting ideas here.

I've got only PC games like Rebel Assault, Rebel Assault II, and the sorts.

I'll add to my list when I pull them out ... I'm sure others may be interested in stuff like these.

If we can create a database of sound files from games mainly for TPM and AOTC then maybe these 2 films can be fixed. I also like the idea some have suggested that bits of dookoes dialog from the CW cartoon could be also used.
