They got a in a huff because someone asked about where the original versions of the film were? I wonder if all the GL top hierarchy feel the same way regarding the original versions...

^ do not underestimate the power of the anamorphic set

I only have a 32" widescreen tv with low-mid range dvd player - I can't really tell the difference between the sound on both versions THAT much, and the anamorphic set obviously 'sits' better on a widescreen tv...

Nice link. Verbatim have a high reputation here in the UK - that seems to be a very good price too. Compatibilty rating is decent too (according to dvdrhelp.com).

Hopefully, as if by magic, the compatibilty issues will become more detailed in the very near future...

In reply to your question I believe that they (1993 and 1995 laserdiscs) used the same transfer, thought there may be other reasons too?

Could well do with a Bootleg DVD FAQ... that 'bootleg dvd' thread in the General Stars Wars is getting far too large to search for any required info.

tlbauerle - kudos to you for creating the original covers - must be a pain in the ass to see your covers with credit given to others.

Hopefully ppl who mod covers in the future will put a mention on who did them originally.

Though I suppose it confirms the time-frames between certain films - and the gap between Ep3 and Ep4. (never knew exactly how much time had passed between them...just a rough guess) Did notice no timeframe for between ESB and ROTJ - isn't that a hotly debated subject on certain SW boards?

I think you can get the boxes - though you will have to be able to run faster than the store security guards

Are the boxes unique to Trek, or do any other Paramount releases in the 'bargain bucket' section use the same boxes - a bit extreme, but do-able?

RowMan - I tak it that you may have the anamorphic or letterbox version of the OT too...

If so, quality wise - do your dual layer 97SE set compare with the OT versions? or are they better?
