Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Thread
Time

yesterday's episode played out well - some really interesting developments with the characters (especially the pressure and expectation on John), as well as the link and importance and role of the doctor. Lots of shades of grey with more questions being asked too.

Hopefully the previous ep and this one is a sign this season is really kicking in - can't wait for next week's ep.

Plus, the netire season has been given the ok by Fox (seems TSSC's popularity on Tivo, online, dvd-ding and whatever else has contributed to it too?):-

An extra 2 episodes have been orderd by Fox to follow on to this season's initial 13. Hopefully the rest of the back 9 episodes will come soon.

Fox has also stated it is aware of the online popularity of the show (it temporarily crashed the Fox server earlier this week).

Disappointing there is no show for 2 weeks - though hopefully it'll pick up right where it left off :)

another absorobing ep of TSCC last night :)

Brian Austin Green has turned out to be a very promising actor (last thing I saw him in was the dreaded 90201 show) - his scenes lifted the episode even further, and a good revelation at the end too. More flashback stuff is always welcome - especially when it's executed well and adds to the script.

Nice takedown of the T888 too!

Still think Agent Ellison needs more screen time - but like that they are building his part in the story up - most intriguing...

I am now in fear of what the Manson-nator can do to people as well ;)

The Force Unleashed is true to the F.U. part

Pretty much enjoyed the game (on the Wii) - though it's pretty lame that you can't skip the cut-scenes or go back to a previous level to search for holocrons, hilts, health and sabre crystals etc without playing the whole game again.

Some of the voice acting was a bit bleh, as was the script - yet nothing too bad compared to some other games with a lot of cutscenes and dialogue.

I enjoyed it - it does indeed feel that SkyNet has sent many Terminators back to the past - and I do hope we get some sort of explanation from Reese or Cameron as to why and how...

Thought Sumer Glua did a top piece of acting when she was about to 'die' - really felt her desire to want to live - which also opens up questions to just how advanced or different she is from other Terminators...

The introduction of the new Terminator will make me think twice when at the urinal in the future ;)

Very interesting to see events unfold between Cromartie and FBI Agent Ellison.

Looking forward to next week to see what happens next...

^ be brave and do not click it - I was weak and could not resist, and now bemoan the fact I have no time machine to travel forward into the future to watch what seems like a seriously great ep... Doh!

aye - enjoyed the first 3 episodes of this season - but the last one was poor filler (well acted etc - but just filler) - I hope there IS some payoff for it - and will continue to watch all the remaining episodes for when it does pick up - but strewth, I found it very difficult to stay focused on the the last episode.

Doh!

(c'mon Ron - give us some of the good stuff :))

I've recently become a huge fan of Ocean Colour Scene. I've recently acquired all of their albums, and I've listened to them all multiple times. Probably one of the most underrated bands of the last decade.

they are great - with the crappy weather here in the UK you always know when it's summer as everyone I know puts on Ocean Colour Scene, sits back with a beer and relaxes in the hot sun. Happy Days :)

I came across this post on the BSG forum at trekbbs.com - certainly another possibility...

"OK, I was not one to really try and figure out the final cylon model but I ran across a few things that may help in determining the fifth cylon.

At the end of season 3 the four hidden cylons come together because of the constant hearing of Along the Watchtower in their heads. OK, so I did a read through of the lyrics - nothing really struck me and if there was something there, it was deeper then I had the energy to dig.

I then did a google search of meanings to the lyrics and such, I came across this theory that the song was based on an old Twilight Zone episode called "Five Characters in Search of an Exit". That struck me as odd and coincidental. 5 hidden cylons, 1 remaining.

The opening narration of he episode is this:

Clown. Hobo. Ballet Dancer. Bagpiper. And an Army Major. A collection of question marks. Five improbable entities stuck together into a pit of darkness. No logic, no reason, no explanation. Just a prolonged nightmare in which fear, loneliness, and the unexplainable walk hand in hand through the shadows. In a moment, we'll start collecting clues as to the whys, the whats, and the wheres. We will not end the nightmare, we'll only explain it, because this is the Twilight Zone.

And, interestingly the closing is this:

Just a barrel, a dark depository where are kept the counterfeit, make-believe pieces of plaster and cloth, wrought in the distorted image of human life. But this added, hopeful note: perhaps they are unloved only for the moment. In the arms of children there can be nothing but love. A clown, a tramp, a bagpipe player, a ballet dancer and a major. Tonight's cast of players on the odd stage known as the Twilight Zone.

OK, so two things - in the arms of children there can be nothing but love - representing that the five are worshipped by the other cylons who can be considered the children of man.

Secondly, if you try and place the now unhidden 4 in the roles of the 5 character types in the episode, possibly we can figure out the fifth hidden cylon.

The 5 dolls in the episode are a major, a tramp (hobo, not slut), bagpiper, ballerina and clown.

Now are Galactica foursome are: Tyrol, Tigh, Anders and Tory.

1) Bagpiper: Chief Tyrol. Why? there is a bagpipers tune called the green hills of tyrol. No other reason for me anyway
2) Ballerina: Tory...why? the role she performs for Roslin is that of aide and media spin artist, deftly dancing among the issues to protect Roslin.
3) Clown: Tigh, one definition of a clown is a rude, ill bred person. Tigh certainly is wanting in manners at time.

That leaves major and tramp. Let's for the moment that the rank of the army soldier is irrelevant, that it is simply a military man. And tramp can be any one without a home or means of support.

4) Major: For the sake of argument lets put Anders here because he is a newly minted pilot and military man.

That leaves, tramp/hobo. So who among the characters that we know is not at home among humans, cylons, relying on the good graces of others to survive?

I don't know, I realize this is an odd thread and line of thought, but what the hell, it might lead somewhere. There just seemed to be a couple of coincidences and I got intrigued.

Your thoughts?"

it certainly seems something Ron Moore could be going with...

The 4th season will start on April 4th - though the US fans will be able to watch the show a little earlier on the scifi website (streams).

Also, Caprica has given the ok for a pilot show.

Hopefully the last couple of episodes turned out like that mainly due to the writer's strike - having a 22 episode season condensed into 13 (studio decision?) and then into 9 episodes in a very short space of time must have gave the writers (along with the other production staff) a major headache in how to pan out the first season - let alone coming up with an ending to the season.

I think there's enough quality on show in the first season to warrant and second season (and more) - and hopefully a longer one at that.

I'll definitely be tuning in for more.

RIP: Bobby Fischer
Time
Top player -almost genius-like at chess before a time when computers and over-analysis rule all.

The man may have been paranoid, complicated, awkward and have some outlandish views - yet if it was true that his mother was a spy, and that the various US security agencies did indeed keep close tabs on Fischer himself it was no wonder that he railed against the US.

Sad that he's dead in that he brought a lot to the game - love playing his fischerandom chess - a welcome fun game when 'proper' matches get a bit heavy
