What’s funny to me is people complained that TFA played it too safe, now this did the opposite of that and people are still complaining.

this is too real.

Since when is different automatically good?

Someone actually demonstrated as well how TLJ is still generally a repeat of a lot of parts TESB and some ROTJ, it’s just no where near as obvious and in your face as TFA was.

Oh, it was plenty obvious…

So there you have it… proof that butthurt Star Wars nerds have been around long before this current generation of whiners and nitpickers nursing their rings following The Last Jedi!

Post reported.

Congratulations, you found something on the internet which supports your opinion.

Personally, I find that having discussions about topics I have an interest in is always more rewarding when different thoughts and opinions are offered; I don’t always agree, but it helps me see things from someone else’s perspective and that is truly valuable.

Here’s “the guy” again, who’s actually a fantasy writer, with his spoiler review of TLJ:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOdobc7jtQo

He asks a good question, that I actually had not considered (and neither did RJ apparently): if admiral Holdo can lightspeed through Snoke’s ship to allow the rebels to escape, and we know they’re going pick them off one by one once the chase begins at the start of the film, why didn’t any of the rebels (or better yet a droid) sacrifice themselves at the beginning of the plot by having one of the cruisers lightspeed through Snokes ship, such that everyone can escape?

I asked the same question. Why wait? She saw the ships getting picked off one by one, so why not turn the ship around and take them out immediately?

Quick question which has been on my mind lately. I have been thinking about the film’s overall symbolism and several times Kylo said that the true path forward was to burn the past and at the end of the film, Luke dies. Is this Lucas Film telling us, the OT fanbase that they have once and for all put the OT out to pasture? We all know that a lot of fans have waited for a very long time for the unmolested OT on Blu ray or 4K and now the latest word is ‘burn the past’ and to kill off the OT’s hero. Am I crazy (don’t answer that) or is there something to this theory? If this topic has been discussed already, forgive me, but trying to wade back through the past several pages was difficult.

Man, that was some recycled bullshit, peppered with WTF moments…

Excuse me while I milk my sea cow’s teats; gone fishin’!! Leia unconsciously force wills herself through space and even though there is absolutely no airlock when Poe opens the door, no one gets sucked out. Creatures, creatures everywhere!! Yeah…what’s that you say, another pod race? Sure, but let’s use some of those cute Pandora-like animals. Another Cantina scene? Sweet, but this time let’s make it a casino that exists in the movie and plot for absolutely no reason, except for, I don’t know, pod races? Why the effing eff doesn’t Laura Dern turn that effing ship around the moment she saw that first effing transport ship get oblieterated?? How about we just wait until there is only three or four left, cause reasons. Hoth? Nah, that’s not snow, it’s salt, but trench warfare and walkers, we can reuse those and nobody will notice. And while we’re at it, let’s throw some ROTJ in this thing for good measure “Oh, you are here by my design, I have foreseen everything and now you must watch my fleet finally kill your rebel friends right before I convince you to turn to the dark side, but I am not going to notice this effing light saber right fricking next to me because I have mad concentration skills; oops, I’m dead thanks to my apprentice. Dammit.” Battering ram? Hell yeah, that’s some old Death Star tech we had laying around…What the actual f@#$?

I wanted to like this, I really did. There were some great moments and, at times, some truly stunning visuals, but I left the theatre with a sour taste in my mouth from being spoon fed regurgitated ideas and concepts from the previous films. I understood that some of this was needed in TFA, but personally I felt that this was to be the film to finally get the story going somewhere fresh or new, but I guess not. Disney is way too smart…recycle, repackage and make bank. “Just think of all of those awesome new toys we can sell.”

For those who loved the film, more power to you and I am truly glad that you enjoyed it and, truthfully, a bit sad that I could not. On the plus side, hopefully this will make a great edit some day.

The DC Extended Universe
Time

I saw it with the fam this past Monday. I felt that the last half of the film was really good, in spite of the weak villain. The first half could have been better with less exposition—yet another scene with Barry and his dad?!? For instance, without the individual films to set up everything, a la MCU, the first part of the movie felt pretty clunky to me. Like MoS and BvS before it, JL could have been so much more and I feel that once the inevitable extended edition comes out, there will be plenty of fodder for fan editors to create a better overall film.

I liked the color pallet of the film as well. I also like the team chemistry between the actors and felt that Whedon’s influence was fairly obvious in some spots, but not negatively so. I still don’t like Cyborg’s inclusion on the team; he has always been a Teen Titan, so for me as a long time DC fan, his role on the JL does not do it for me. I thought the actor did a great job, but I would have preferred John Stewart’s GL, by far.

My last point is about Warner’s consistent and incessant micro managing of its properties. The powers that be at WB, like most big studios, have ruined property after property and for some reason, still refuse to allow creators to create so instead of seeing a creator’s true vision, we are left with muddled, boring and/or poorly edited ‘could have been better’ movies that consistently fall short of the competition. Fox, Sony and others have been guilty of the same thing, but WB has taken this practice to a new art form. Which is tragic when you consider the depth of talent out there and the toy box of comic properties they could potentially be hitting home runs with…
